Haters on Edey don't understand or want to understand that he is running an offense that is based on this play style. That doesn't mean this is all he can do. Edey shoots well from the line and at the draft combine he hit multiple 3's in a row with great form. At Purdue he did what the coaches asked of him and clearly excelled. Why I think he has a chance to be good in the NBA is he wont have 3 guys draped on him at all times, he will ALLOWED to be more creative/shoot and the BIGGEST reason is he is unbelievably durable/in shape. I've never heard of a guy this big playing entire games before and he doesn't miss any games. Idc what you say that's mind blowing - he's 7'4 and 300 pounds.
Now this is a true Center. Crazy that everyone is saying no one is gonna draft him. It doesn't matter because there are still teams that value the classic center role.
@gxguy2906 bruh you are so delusional nor people did says that no teams would draft him he is more deserving than any draft class this in this year in fact look at his stats and his fiction of the game he should’ve the number 1 overall pick instead that those two from France!
in the pick and roll, Edey surprisingly does not look that slow moving to the basket. His game is essentially all of what Jakob Poeltl is, a 7'+ big who's slow, a good shot blocker, decent rebounder, a floater/push shot and hook(Edey will probably develop these). he also has the height to be able to shoot over guys in the mid range, like Porzingis. He might not be that strong, but being 7'4 he is heavy enough to punish other centers in the paint, catch lobs and maybe some spin moves if he learns. Edey basically has more offensive skill than Gobert(primarily he dunks/catches lobs), and almost as much as Poeltl. Both of these guys are successful defensive big men in the league. Tell me how Edey, who has even more height than both of these guys, and a longer wing span, can't be able to thrive in the NBA. like y'all don't think with an NBA shooting coach he can't develop at least a midrange??
Bro you make bam a shooter and use him in the mid ranger and eddy will clean up the boards plus on defense imagine having to go through bam jimmy and eddy down low plus highsmith
He adds size and physicality to a Canadian team that needs it. Imagine his screens opening up drives for Shai, or 3 pointers for Murray, or dominating in the paint for when opposing perimeter defenses put in the pressure.
No he’s not if he can’t defend well enough. I’m concerned more with that side of the ball then offense. He’s a very slow footed big and he will be going against much smarter, quicker, and athletic guards. A lot of his defensive plays don’t really highlight his abilities because a lot of these guards that are running into him aren’t nba level.
I don’t think so. Because nba teams won’t try to just maximize his strengths and expect a guy that’s 7’4 and weighing 300lbs to defend perimeter players and shoot 3 pointers instead of letting him play down low which is what he is good at. I wouldn’t mind if he slips to my timberwolves in the draft🤷♂️
@@lordkaiser1404 I get your point, and I understand any I say or you say is a matter of opinion until he plays, but if Nikola Jokić can run so can Zach.

I guess you don’t realize why traditional centers have died out of the league. Put a traditional big on the floor and good luck to your spacing and pace
@@kalenmarshall8692 due to faster pace bball. That however doesnt change the fact a lot of teams often miss this kind of center that dominates the paint.
@@johnnydenmark6477 no they don’t miss them, they simply don’t draft them because it’s 2024 and it’s been almost a decade of running small ball 5 or having bugs who space the floor by shooting threes. I’m not sure how much basketball you have missed but like I said before, there is a reason most teams are no longer high on big clunky centers in the draft.
I really hope my team okc draft him he can be a star 💯he’s 7’4 300 but if you watch close he moves go for his size and he’s competitive and his skills and potential can be shaq like in the paint if he gets to the right team that’s important for players

I can see him going to the Warriors when cp3 on the floor, the hornets for their pick n roll game, r just a defensive piece for the like the Pistons r sum
Gain muscle? Dude is already a well proportioned 7'4 and 300 lbs, so he's gonna be able to have his way physically with most NBA centers. If anything, trainers might try to get him down to 280-285, in order to improve his quickness.
I mean I like the pick for some reasons aka size most importantly but he’s gonna get beat to the rim one on one against more athletic players/hes gonna have to guard players on the perimeter a lot more too and he doesn’t shoot a lot either.. lakers need a stretch 5 so ad can create and score by driving or shooting the middy without the center being in the paint so much aka so the lane ain’t clogged up and kel ware is more of a d Lively type of player with a jump shot potentially could be a great 2 way player right away next to AD.. he can learn from AD 💯
Can't really blame him. He gets fouled all over the place, over and over. But so many of them the refs just don't call. He has to be getting tired of all the pushing and shoving and forearms on his back. When I played ball, you could not do that forearm thing on a guy's back, EVER. That was an automatic foul EVERY TIME. People should be fouling out fast trying to guard this guy.
People saying he's only big in the NCAA and will get bodied in the league. They often compare him to Zubac (or heck, 6'9 Tyler Hansborough, lol). C'mon now, Edey is going to be a giant in the NBA as well. He's 7'4 with a 7'11 wingspan. Zubac is 7' with a 7'4 wingspan. That's a massive difference... The only player with similar size with Boban (and if Wemby goes on steroids), but Edey is clearly more coordinated and athletic. People also complaining the league is soft now - well great, even easier for him to take over.
Yeah I just signed him on my gym mode on nba 2k cos I went against him he is a giant he dwarves Wemby cos of his broadness, sets a killer screen, even if that’s all he does he will make nba
Edy can ball for sure but there’s a few areas that can be further developed: Footwork, keeping the ball high when players are shorter, positioning in the paint, learn how to read his opponents body language when posting up, shooting with the left hand, ball handling,
I agree. His game does need work. He also allows smaller, weaker players to push him off the block. If he gets a lot of resistance, pushing and shoving, etc., he needs to take more advantage of his size and strength to overcome it and show who's boss out there. He also ought to dunk one-handed more often so that he can outmaneuver and evade the defender more easily. He needs to watch old films of how Wilt Chamberlain did it. Much to be learned there.
