A crash when I grew up WAS THE END OF THE WORLD! The planes took many months to build (gluing each balsa wood rib and fuselage piece one at a time) and they didn't just "glue back together" easy like foam. I remember my dad hit a pole at San Diego stadium at full throttle! I think he cried and was depressed for weeks. You guys and these easy to build planes make it seem sooooo much easier!

Its so tedious. My first 4 channel plane is going to be a guillow edge 540. I've done a guillow super cub and the ribs sucked.

Well sir, the planes that the crew have been coming up with, are pretty rigid and they also have a lesser build time.... My Viggen's taken 7 crashes till now, and nothing major has happened yet, apart from my prop slicing the Viggen's rudder in half...

I've been flying all summer. When a plane crashes, I either give it away or strip the parts to sell them. Also have been supporting some local hobby folks with paying for repairs ($20-$30 an hour). I've been watching your vids from sometime and last night put the time in for my first repair. Radian Pro motor and nose vibrated off during flight. I waited for the parts but my repair guy was busy with the holidays. It probably took me 10 times longer than necessary but I worked on it all night to rebuild the nose, reinforce it and test it. I took it up this morning and it FLEW! So rewarding to see my repair hold up. 20 min flight smiling the whole time.
Thanks for all that you do and share! The podcasts are awesome, too!

Great videos, I just flew my Apprentice for the first time today(first time ever flying) and I did good. The ground was too rough to taxi well, so I did the walk of shame. But I didn't crash and she's ready to go again. Thanks Flight Test, I couldn't have done it without you!

The CRASH part good side, is the rebuilding. I realy enjoy it, U oftenly improve Ur model this way. i ve modified & improved many models after crashing em.
Example : AXN floater Jet : has a very reinforced structure and the fuselage is covered with brown paper bag slices soaked in white glue, painted in black n white & varnished. Weights now 850g, will change wings for Bixler 2 wings & for winter will install skies with chucks. We destroy (crash) & we build (create) :) i LOVE IT

My first RC plane was a Hobbyzone Champ. I took it to the local baseball diamond, super excited! I took it off, and crashed it into the dugout about * seconds later. I felt horrible!! I snapped the wing in half! But, I made the mistake of learning by myself, and that is just beginners luck I suppose. Thanks for the beginner series and all your videos Flitetest!!!!!

I am a newbie getting ready to become an rc pilot. I absolutely love how you 2 gentleman take time to make videos like this. Josh and Josh, you guy are amazing and thank you. I do have 1 question. I spoke with someone who is an experienced pilot and he told me to purchase the Timber X. Would you agree with this plane as a beginner plane? Thanks guys. Have a blessed day.

Got my first rc plane from online. Too excited to fly even though it was sooo windy! Had a few secs in the air, then.... BBBAAAMMM!! it went right to the ground at full speed... Damaged motor, broken cockpit. Disaligned shaft. But I wont give until I master this hobby.
thanks for the inspiring video. from the Philippines.

I'm 14. Started flying rc. Crashed 2 times and I've been flying every couple of days for about a year. Had to repair both crashes and on both occasions I was bummed. I would say the hardest bit about a crash is having the guts to fly it again. But I know its just part of the hobby

Great vid as usual guys. You need to also think about the reason for your crash. Always a good idea to range test a model after a crash cause it will highlight radio problems.

4:19 A matter of milliseconds you mean. IDK the RPM's of airplane motors but one time I had my quad flip up and I punched the throttle while going for the kill switch at the same time (Edit: on accident obviously). And the very small delay before the disarm worked a motor smoked and 2 ESC's stopped working.

In Episode 10 of this series, on aerobatics, one topic they cover is flight simulators. I know how much you want to get into the air, but $150-$200 on a flight simulator and controller combo, like Real Flight 9.5, will let you build up almost unlimited flight hours without having to do one airplane repair.
