I really appreciate the video. I just applied what I learned to my bike with one exception... I couldn't locate the 5/16"-18*1-3/4" bolts locally. So I went with 5/16"-18*2" bolts and found that I was able to go the extra length without protruding through to the fender. So like you, and for the cost of 4-spacers, 4-bolts and the washers that I already had in my little bins, I was able to install the 4-point docking station and aim the mini rocket launchers more appropriately towards the car behind me.
You need (4) spacers that are 5/8" OD x 5/16" ID X 3/4" long and (4) 5/16" X 18 x 2" bolts. The kit Harley sells comes with a bracket, but it's the same bracket that's already on the bike, nothing different. Just buy spacers and bolts and save yourself $75.00
Now for people like me who are mechanically dumb and are unsure of exactly what you did. Any chance of a step by step. I can follow directions but not a figure it out kinda guy.
Undo the 4 torx bolts that hold the shock resivors. Pull out the mounts Put in place the docking hardware Install the 3/4" spacers where the torxs bolts came out. Put the shock resivor mount on top of those spacers outside the fender strut. Install 1 washer and 1 1/2" Allen head bolt each side yes the rear will have a counter sunk area Install small washer on both locations and tighten.. All done
The Harley kit uses spacers just like the OP says and the brackets they send are the exact same as what's already on the bike. Waste of $$$ to buy the kit.
