I'm expecting to something from Oda Eiichiro, as Toriyama was his mentor, and insperation. Not to mention that they are good friends in real life and even had a crossover manga together.
Oda did so did Kishimoto along with other amazing mangakas like Inoue (author of slam dunk and Vagabond) and Urasawa (author of Monster, Pluto, and 20th century boys. Even Jackie Chan wrote a message. It’s incredible honestly

Growing up in Mexico, DBZ was my escape from my poor environment. It taught me perseverence and to believe in myself, even as someone that came from nothing. I kept those beliefs close to heart and despite all odds became a surgeon in the US.
The creators for Final Fantasy and Golden Sun have said Dragonquest directly influenced them in making their games. His influence is incredibly far and wide reaching through generations and all around the world. There's no one like him
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Dragon Quest was a *HUGE* influence for a LOT of RPGs, both western and eastern. His work did so much more for others than we can even realize.
I really wanna see a video that talks about his influence in the video game space. Most of the tributes focus on Dragon Ball (rightfully so), but I think people are overlooking his influence on games in doing so. Dragon Quest alone is hugely impactful and he's a major reason why.

I know he’s inspired my son, kid has been drawing Dragon Quest characters for the past month after he watched the show, it made me so happy that even my kid has been inspired by Toriyama, that man will be remembered and praised for decades.
As time passes we will be losing more and more entertainment legends. We’ll all miss him. This one hit deep, the Akira Toriyama art style is timeless. I hope his family and friends are doing ok right now.
I guess my only connection was Chrono Trigger and Blue Dragon. I never liked Dragonball, it was one of those shows where the fights were seemingly endless, and full of opponents "verbally taunting" or "verbally worshipping" each other's moves, each in turn "shocked" by whatever the other revealed next, up to a point where the meme "Don't make me assume my final form" wasn't even funny anymore. It all just bored me to tears. BUT!!! I love the style. I will miss this. And now, follow-up games in this style are probably never going to feel like the real thing anymore. I was constantly missing my bus to school because I was trying to catch the end of DBZ, recess was always dedicated to talking about that mornings episode. Such a tragic loss the man was part of so many of our upbringings.
As a Hispanic kid during that time, my family first experienced DB/Z through the Spanish (Mexican) dub. By the time Toonami aired SS Goku in English, we were already on the Android/Cell saga in Spanish. I still remember the first half of the Buu saga in Spanish back in summer of '01 (we were in the Dominican Republic all summer, right before 9/11) and coming back to school to tell my peers what would happen next. The Blue Ocean & Funimation dubs back in those days are really bizarre, especially with their release cadence in the US. It's crazy to think the creator of this IP died at 68, whereas the oldest voice actress is well in her 80s and still kicking. And this is after Chris Aires died around a year ago, too.

Living in Europe at the time Dragon ball was on i had no idea the US release was the mess it was, ours was released some years before the US release and it was adapted from a french script we watched it all from start to finish, back to back. Looking back those were golden times. Hell i miss watching DragonBall on TV in the 90s, going to school everybody was talking about it. I am so thankful to Akira Toriyama for the childhood i had.

Just bought every season of Dragon Ball/ DBZ / and GT on DVD. Gonna watch every single episode on my crt. I'm very, very, very sad. A massive influence on my life.
Dragonball changed my life. I still regularly watch it and still get chills at the really high highs of the show we all know. Once we got into the Goku Black arc of super that show really hit its stride as well. When super hero came out in theaters a couple years back I weeped when seeing Gohan transform and use the special beam cannon. It’s all still incredibly special to me. Gone but never ever forgotten. Rest in peace Toriyama-San.

Despite only seeing one interview and photos of him, it felt like the loss of a family member. I remember begging my parents to fly me to Comic-Con back in 2002 just because he was there. Oh yes, I will never forget the day Son-Goku first turned into a Super Sayjan. For someone like me who had never read the mangas before it was so unexpected. Before that It felt like the bad guys would win in this universe. The day after in school everyone in my primary school was so quite as if something changed forever. DBZ was always the talk of my friend group in elementary school. We'd always talk about the show, draw the characters and make little comics about them, go over to each other's houses after school to play the games like Tenkaichi 3 and Budokai 1-3, we really loved the series. Good memories

He showed up in my local newspaper at Sunny (Japanese grocery store) as the front page article. It's been a big deal all over the world. 😢 On a personal note, my brothers and I grew up watching DB and bonded over it to this day. We used to do the Fusion dance, immitate Kamehameha, Galic Gun, and Burning Attack. We collected the trading cards. We received a hankerchief with Adult Gohan from my uncle in Japan and had no idea who he was at the time because the Buu saga hadn't aired in the U.S. yet. We thought the Androids were the coolest, and Cell inspired us with horror film making, etc. I loved the adventures of young Goku and the tournament sagas. Seriously, it is an understatement how impactful his series has been on so many people's lives. Saiyans get literally way stronger if they rest, heal, and recooperate from whatever doesn’t kill them. It's inspiring, pushing beyond our limits, discovering hidden strength or courage, and making long lasting friendships even from former enemies.
I'm in my mid-40s. When I saw the other day about Toriyama's passing I started doing some thinking and I realized that I in my life I have probably spent more of my entertainment time consuming things that he created or contributed to than probably any other single artist. DragonBall manga and anime, DBZ manga and anime and video games, Dragon Quest/Warrior, Chrono Trigger, Dr. Slump (this got me through Covid). I know that I am forgetting something. I still remember living in Kentucky when I was 13 and not being able to sleep one Sunday night in late 1995. I wandered downstairs at 4:30 in the morning to see if there was something on TV. I was flipping around and stopped on the first cartoon that I saw. It was the third or fourth episode of DragonBall. I had no idea what I was watching and was very intrigued. Next week I set my alarm to get up and watch it. It only lasted a couple of months and then it stopped airing. It was still very early internet so, my world was still when things went away they just went away. After it ended I didn't really think about it again until like two years later. I got home after school and my brother was watching Toonami. I was getting myself a sandwich and I caught Goku out of the corner of my eye and it was like a lightning bolt taking me back to those Sunday mornings. I was hooked. The first time that Goku went Super Saiyan, I skipped work at Taco Bell that day. My boss was PISSED. But, I was not missing that. I am not an emotional person. When people die, it's normally "That's sad" and I just keep it moving. I have had tears in my eyes for three days now. I'm crying again while typing this. Because of DragonBall and Toriyama I made friends I probably never would have made, I spent time with my younger brother that I would not have. This person that I never met probably had more influence on my life than anybody outside of my immediate family. I'm just grateful that it's no longer 1995 and I don't have to worry about his work disappearing from my life.
It's such a shame he died so young. I wasn't really a fan of Dragon Ball, but I know that without it all the Anime/manga we enjoy in the west wouldn't here, and for that I am forever grateful. Hope his family is doing as well as they can be.
I still remember my first experience with DragonBall Z, tuned in flipping channels and Goku beat the snot out of the Recoome, followed by Jeice and Burter. Then Vegeta finishing them both off. My anime gateways would always be Street Fighter 2V and Yu Yu Hakusho, but the DragonBall series as a whole transformed and motivated the world as a whole, just like it did with it's own characters. For now, another great gets to rest, and legends continue on.
I'm 36yo. I'm from Brazil and moved to U.S in 2018. I grew up watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I remember watching Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network with my younger brother after school. It permeated the Brazilian culture just like it did with the rest of the world! Dragon Ball Z is incredibly powerful, in the sense that highly influenced so many cultures around the world!
The ending of Dragonquest 5 (Hothb) had me crying in the backseat of my families car when I was a teen. DQ ROR taught me not to take anyone for granted and I don't think my relationship with my sister would be the same today if not for that. I didn’t watch dragonball as much as I would have liked but when I see it I still get nostalgic for that time. That really says something about its creator. As a writer and fan I so respect this man. Like others, as a kid i was introduced to Dragon Ball dubbed in Spanish on a trip to Mexico and fell in love. We where poor with no cable so didn't get to watch as much as i could but i was obsessed with it. It wasnt till my late teens when i was really able to watch it on Toonami. I never knew him but losing him really made me sad. I remember being in middle school and learning about DBZ in the lunchroom. I went to my Uncle house was talking about DBZ with my brother and my Uncle over heard us and jumped right into our convo. Turns out my Uncle had about 3 VHS tape of DBZ he taped off the TV. I remember my brother and I sitting with him for hours watching his homemade DBZ tapes. Since my brother and my uncle passed those were some of the best memories share of them.

I never realized until now how much Akira Toriyama influence my life. From the friendships formed to hobbies and entertainment I enjoyed. The memories from my youth suddenly overwhelming me. The world lost one of its most uniques treasures. RIP His legacy lives on through the millions of those influenced by his lessons and art.
I remember around 2000, no one in my school knew much about anime, but everyone knew about Dragon Ball, everyone liked it and it didn't matter if you were rich, poor, black, white, or anything.
I also have to really thank the man. He and his works influenced me growing up, not to forget what kind of impact he had on entertainment media in general. The man is a legend, the next biggest Mangaka after Tezuka. It is so sad that he passed so soon. Read a lot of comments of japanese creators and people from all over the world on twitter and yt. It really made me shed tears. Usually I don’t get so involved when a celebrity or well known person dies but Toriyama was a very special person that did so much for the life of so many people.
When I was in Grade 1, I finished homework quickly so that my mom would grant me some TV time to watch his Dr. Slump and then I grew up watching Dragon Ball. When I became a junior high teacher, my students were still watching Dragon Ball. It opened up even the most quiet student in the class and we all had fun talking about Goku Son. We all sang the theme song together when we went to our school picnic. This year is the 40th anniversary of DB and it would have been nice if he could be here to celebrate together. Man I used to come home everyday and be so excited to watch the latest episode of dragonball z. Especially the namek saga..watching goku go super saiyan for the first time is what really made me fall in love with the series. And being such a big part of a game community for one of the mobile games and as many friends as I’ve made along the way because of his works makes me thankful for what he made, and sad knowing he won’t be blessing the world with anything else of his brilliant mind. Same John, same. It's impossible to know who I'd be today without dbz and everything else Toriyama san made. I remember rushing home in the fourth grade after school just to catch the latest episode of the Buu saga, airing at the time. Dbz made flexing and screaming cool, so weird previously, but more normal now. What a time to be alive. My favorite Dbz moment? Oof Gohans ascension against Cell is pretty incredible, but my number one favorite moment has to go to Majinn Vegeta's sacrifice. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it today. RIP Akira Toriyama.
One thing I hope comes from this sad news is that people will STOP SLEEPING ON DR. SLUMP. That show is GOATED. It may not have been the multicultural phenomenon that DB is but it's still so so good.
One of my favorite memories is when the series ended and I got to watch it with my sister and my dad, a precious memory. And also in my country, México, we love dragon ball and you can even watch it on the free tv broadcast today.
When I was maybe 7 or 8 they actually aired the Saiyan Saga on Fox super early in the morning. Like 5:30 or 6 am. I started to watch it when Goku was running down snake way. They cancelled it airing a few episodes later. I wondered for years what that show was and wanted to watch it. I continued to dabble in Anime. I saw Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell after that. Also Akira and Totoro. Then years later, my big brother starts describing a show that's playing on Toonami to me. Telling me about the Ginyu Force and the legend of the Super Saiyan. The next night I started watching. A couple of months ago I finished my playthrough of Kakarot on the Switch and watched all of Dragonball Super. Since a young child I have always been an Akira Toriyama fan and will be one until I die. Rest In Peace Toriyama-San. Forever grateful for the art you gave us.

I remember waking up way earlier than I had to when I was school back in the 90s just so I could watch both Dragonball and Dragonball z. Now, I am 37 with two kids, and Saturday nights have become boys' nights. My wife goes to bed, and we stay up watching dragonball z because of that I have bought all the series from the OG to GT and all the movies. He is a big part of my favorite part of the week, as they get excited to watch with Daddy.
Akira toriyama really did change the world he inspired so many great authors and influenced anime and manga he’s basically the Stan Lee of Japan without him we wouldn’t have all these amazing series as Naruto or one piece akira started it all he was a legendary story teller my fav works from him are not only dragon ball but also he’s other works like the manga dr slump the dragon quest games and two chrono games dragon quest is a very popular series same as chrono trigger and chrono cross without akira toriyama I doubt those series would be as popular and would be very different he had a very unique style of drawing he’s characters and it was like he made them come to life made the audience feel really connected to he’s characters he will be missed but he’s creation he’s works will live on forever in the form of media games and collections rest in peace akira toriyama 😭

I first began watching Dragonball when Goku was a kid, I would spend days upstairs watching it on my grandmothers television, cross legged, only a few feet away from the screen. And what took from it was show mercy but do not let down your guard. Not let others take advantage of you, and preservere through on, no matter what life throws at you.

I remember going to Mexico and watching GT in 1996. All my cousing and I seeing the whole ark and not knowing that DB and DBZ was before it. I strongly advise people to start that way it made gokus story way more impactful. RIP Señor Toriyama.
I remember when I got into DBZ, my to avoid doing housework I turned the TV on and put cartoon network (UK this is the channel DBZ was on) and was like "I need to finish watching this" to my parents, at this point I had no idea what DBZ was but it happened to be the episode Goku first goes super Saiyan and I was hooked. Nobody I knew at school watched this as I was in my mid teens at this point and the TV channel was deemed more of a kids channel than teen channel to alot of people, but we had the internet at this point and found people online in forums who watched it so had somewhere to speak to people

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Dragon Quest was a *HUGE* influence for a LOT of RPGs, both western and eastern. His work did so much more for others than we can even realize.
I really wanna see a video that talks about his influence in the video game space. Most of the tributes focus on Dragon Ball (rightfully so), but I think people are overlooking his influence on games in doing so. Dragon Quest alone is hugely impactful and he's a major reason why.
From chrono trigger and dragon quest to blue dragon and sand land this man was a pillar for the jrpg community and a huge loss to gaming and entertainment industry will be sorely missed. Akira will be remembered fondly by so many of us rest in peace
I can't State how much this man had an impact on my life Akira Toriyama basically created my childhood. I would draw dragon Ball z stuff I would dress like the characters and play games watch the shows the movies I would live and breathe dragon Ball z growing up and I wanted to be just like Goku I saw him as someone to strive to be like, RIP LEGEND Akira Toriyama 😢

I know he’s inspired my son, kid has been drawing Dragon Quest characters for the past month after he watched the show, it made me so happy that even my kid has been inspired by Toriyama, that man will be remembered and praised for decades.

I guess my only connection was Chrono Trigger and Blue Dragon. I never liked Dragonball, it was one of those shows where the fights were seemingly endless, and full of opponents "verbally taunting" or "verbally worshipping" each other's moves, each in turn "shocked" by whatever the other revealed next, up to a point where the meme "Don't make me assume my final form" wasn't even funny anymore. It all just bored me to tears. BUT!!! I love the style. I will miss this. And now, follow-up games in this style are probably never going to feel like the real thing anymore. The heart won't be there anymore. Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama.

I was constantly missing my bus to school because I was trying to catch the end of DBZ, recess was always dedicated to talking about that mornings episode. Such a tragic loss the man was part of so many of our upbringings.
As a Hispanic kid during that time, my family first experienced DB/Z through the Spanish (Mexican) dub. By the time Toonami aired SS Goku in English, we were already on the Android/Cell saga in Spanish. I still remember the first half of the Buu saga in Spanish back in summer of '01 (we were in the Dominican Republic all summer, right before 9/11) and coming back to school to tell my peers what would happen next. The Blue Ocean & Funimation dubs back in those days are really bizarre, especially with their release cadence in the US.
It's crazy to think the creator of this IP died at 68, whereas the oldest voice actress is well in her 80s and still kicking. And this is after Chris Aires died around a year ago, too.

Been watching Dragon Ball since 1988, it is still very present in my life. I come from France and this is a phenomenon over there, even our president posted on Tweeter about it.
Like him or not, he probably was the same type of kid we were, glued to his tv. How could he not say something about it. I don't like him, but I like and respect when I see the humans behind the functions peeking through.

Living in Europe at the time Dragon ball was on i had no idea the US release was the mess it was, ours was released some years before the US release and it was adapted from a french script we watched it all from start to finish, back to back. Looking back those were golden times. Hell i miss watching DragonBall on TV in the 90s, going to school everybody was talking about it. I am so thankful to Akira Toriyama for the childhood i had.

Dragonball changed my life. I still regularly watch it and still get chills at the really high highs of the show we all know. Once we got into the Goku Black arc of super that show really hit its stride as well. When super hero came out in theaters a couple years back I weeped when seeing Gohan transform and use the special beam cannon. It’s all still incredibly special to me. Gone but never ever forgotten. Rest in peace Toriyama-San.

Despite only seeing one interview and photos of him, it felt like the loss of a family member. I remember begging my parents to fly me to Comic-Con back in 2002 just because he was there. I would be a different person without his work, and I am immeasurably grateful to him that only because obvious upon his passing. RIP Akira Toriyama
Oh yes, I will never forget the day Son-Goku first turned into a Super Sayjan. For someone like me who had never read the mangas before it was so unexpected. Before that It felt like the bad guys would win in this universe. The day after in school everyone in my primary school was so quite as if something changed forever. Akira Toriyama really made animes mainstream after this. RIP

DBZ was always the talk of my friend group in elementary school. We'd always talk about the show, draw the characters and make little comics about them, go over to each other's houses after school to play the games like Tenkaichi 3 and Budokai 1-3, we really loved the series. Good memories
I dont like any other animie but love anything dragonball. Used to play on my trampoline pretending to be a super saiyan. Would strain so hard trying to Kamehameha I probably shit my pants on multiple occasions, lol. Was truly a legend and will be deeply missed. He showed up in my local newspaper at Sunny (Japanese grocery store) as the front page article. It's been a big deal all over the world. 😢 On a personal note, my brothers and I grew up watching DB and bonded over it to this day. We used to do the Fusion dance, immitate Kamehameha, Galic Gun, and Burning Attack. We collected the trading cards. We received a hankerchief with Adult Gohan from my uncle in Japan and had no idea who he was at the time because the Buu saga hadn't aired in the U.S. yet. We thought the Androids were the coolest, and Cell inspired us with horror film making, etc. I loved the adventures of young Goku and the tournament sagas. Seriously, it is an understatement how impactful his series has been on so many people's lives. Saiyans get literally way stronger if they rest, heal, and recooperate from whatever doesn’t kill them. It's inspiring, pushing beyond our limits, discovering hidden strength or courage, and making long lasting friendships even from former enemies.
I'm in my mid-40s. When I saw the other day about Toriyama's passing I started doing some thinking and I realized that I in my life I have probably spent more of my entertainment time consuming things that he created or contributed to than probably any other single artist. DragonBall manga and anime, DBZ manga and anime and video games, Dragon Quest/Warrior, Chrono Trigger, Dr. Slump (this got me through Covid). I know that I am forgetting something. I still remember living in Kentucky when I was 13 and not being able to sleep one Sunday night in late 1995. I wandered downstairs at 4:30 in the morning to see if there was something on TV. I was flipping around and stopped on the first cartoon that I saw. It was the third or fourth episode of DragonBall. I had no idea what I was watching and was very intrigued. Next week I set my alarm to get up and watch it. It only lasted a couple of months and then it stopped airing.
It was still very early internet so, my world was still when things went away they just went away. After it ended I didn't really think about it again until like two years later. I got home after school and my brother was watching Toonami. I was getting myself a sandwich and I caught Goku out of the corner of my eye and it was like a lightning bolt taking me back to those Sunday mornings. I was hooked. The first time that Goku went Super Saiyan, I skipped work at Taco Bell that day. My boss was PISSED. But, I was not missing that. I am not an emotional person. When people die, it's normally "That's sad" and I just keep it moving. I have had tears in my eyes for three days now. I'm crying again while typing this. Because of DragonBall and Toriyama I made friends I probably never would have made, I spent time with my younger brother that I would not have. This person that I never met probably had more influence on my life than anybody outside of my immediate family. I'm just grateful that it's no longer 1995 and I don't have to worry about his work disappearing from my life.
It's such a shame he died so young. I wasn't really a fan of Dragon Ball, but I know that without it all the Anime/manga we enjoy in the west wouldn't here, and for that I am forever grateful. Hope his family is doing as well as they can be.
Not only that, he was huge part of Dragon Quest, a JRPG that revolutionized JRPG’s and RPG’s in general.

I still remember my first experience with DragonBall Z, tuned in flipping channels and Goku beat the snot out of the Recoome, followed by Jeice and Burter. Then Vegeta finishing them both off. My anime gateways would always be Street Fighter 2V and Yu Yu Hakusho, but the DragonBall series as a whole transformed and motivated the world as a whole, just like it did with it's own characters. For now, another great gets to rest, and legends continue on.
I'm 36yo. I'm from Brazil and moved to U.S in 2018. I grew up watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I remember watching Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network with my younger brother after school. It permeated the Brazilian culture just like it did with the rest of the world! Dragon Ball Z is incredibly powerful, in the sense that highly influenced so many cultures around the world!
The biggest exposure I've had in Toriyama was from Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger. Truly amazing at character design. May he rest in piece.
The ending of Dragonquest 5 (Hothb) had me crying in the backseat of my families car when I was a teen. DQ ROR taught me not to take anyone for granted and I don't think my relationship with my sister would be the same today if not for that. I didn’t watch dragonball as much as I would have liked but when I see it I still get nostalgic for that time. That really says something about its creator. As a writer and fan I so respect this man. Like others, as a kid i was introduced to Dragon Ball dubbed in Spanish on a trip to Mexico and fell in love. We where poor with no cable so didn't get to watch as much as i could but i was obsessed with it. It wasnt till my late teens when i was really able to watch it on Toonami. I never knew him but losing him really made me sad. I remember being in middle school and learning about DBZ in the lunchroom. I went to my Uncle house was talking about DBZ with my brother and my Uncle over heard us and jumped right into our convo. Turns out my Uncle had about 3 VHS tape of DBZ he taped off the TV. I remember my brother and I sitting with him for hours watching his homemade DBZ tapes. Since my brother and my uncle passed those were some of the best memories share of them.

I was expecting you to mention that in a video since I remember your first videos commenting about Dragon Ball Z and I seeing myself as into the topic as you.
I never realized until now how much Akira Toriyama influence my life. From the friendships formed to hobbies and entertainment I enjoyed. The memories from my youth suddenly overwhelming me. The world lost one of its most uniques treasures. RIP His legacy lives on through the millions of those influenced by his lessons and art.
I remember around 2000, no one in my school knew much about anime, but everyone knew about Dragon Ball, everyone liked it and it didn't matter if you were rich, poor, black, white, or anything.
Such a legend. His impact can’t be understated. Will always remember that feeling of growing up while DBZ was airing.

It really made me shed tears. Usually I don’t get so involved when a celebrity or well known person dies but Toriyama was a very special person that did so much for the life of so many people.
When I was in Grade 1, I finished homework quickly so that my mom would grant me some TV time to watch his Dr. Slump and then I grew up watching Dragon Ball. When I became a junior high teacher, my students were still watching Dragon Ball. It opened up even the most quiet student in the class and we all had fun talking about Goku Son. We all sang the theme song together when we went to our school picnic.
This year is the 40th anniversary of DB and it would have been nice if he could be here to celebrate together.

Man I used to come home everyday and be so excited to watch the latest episode of dragonball z. Especially the namek saga..watching goku go super saiyan for the first time is what really made me fall in love with the series. And being such a big part of a game community for one of the mobile games and as many friends as I’ve made along the way because of his works makes me thankful for what he made, and sad knowing he won’t be blessing the world with anything else of his brilliant mind. Same John, same. It's impossible to know who I'd be today without dbz and everything else Toriyama san made. I remember rushing home in the fourth grade after school just to catch the latest episode of the Buu saga, airing at the time. Dbz made flexing and screaming cool, so weird previously, but more normal now. What a time to be alive. My favorite Dbz moment? Oof Gohans ascension against Cell is pretty incredible, but my number one favorite moment has to go to Majinn Vegeta's sacrifice. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it today. RIP Akira Toriyama.
One thing I hope comes from this sad news is that people will STOP SLEEPING ON DR. SLUMP. That show is GOATED. It may not have been the multicultural phenomenon that DB is but it's still so so good.
One of my favorite memories is when the series ended and I got to watch it with my sister and my dad, a precious memory.

When I was maybe 7 or 8 they actually aired the Saiyan Saga on Fox super early in the morning. Like 5:30 or 6 am. I started to watch it when Goku was running down snake way. They cancelled it airing a few episodes later. I wondered for years what that show was and wanted to watch it. I continued to dabble in Anime. I saw Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell after that. Also Akira and Totoro. Then years later, my big brother starts describing a show that's playing on Toonami to me. Telling me about the Ginyu Force and the legend of the Super Saiyan. The next night I started watching. A couple of months ago I finished my playthrough of Kakarot on the Switch and watched all of Dragonball Super. Since a young child I have always been an Akira Toriyama fan and will be one until I die. Rest In Peace Toriyama-San. Forever grateful for the art you gave us.

I remember waking up way earlier than I had to when I was school back in the 90s just so I could watch both Dragonball and Dragonball z. Now, I am 37 with two kids, and Saturday nights have become boys' nights. My wife goes to bed, and we stay up watching dragonball z because of that I have bought all the series from the OG to GT and all the movies. He is a big part of my favorite part of the week, as they get excited to watch with Daddy.

I first began watching Dragonball when Goku was a kid, I would spend days upstairs watching it on my grandmothers television, cross legged, only a few feet away from the screen.
And what took from it was show mercy but do not let down your guard. Not let others take advantage of you, and preservere through on, no matter what life throws at you.
I remember running from the bus stop with my friend to get home in time to watch re-runs of dbz, best work out routine ever growing up.
I'm happy to share his amazing work with my children.

DBZ was so popular in New Zealand, one of the popular bands at the time made a music video for a song based on it.
I remember when I got into DBZ, my to avoid doing housework I turned the TV on and put cartoon network (UK this is the channel DBZ was on) and was like "I need to finish watching this" to my parents, at this point I had no idea what DBZ was but it happened to be the episode Goku first goes super Saiyan and I was hooked.
Nobody I knew at school watched this as I was in my mid teens at this point and the TV channel was deemed more of a kids channel than teen channel to alot of people, but we had the internet at this point and found people online in forums who watched it so had somewhere to speak to people
R.I.P. Sir your work helped me through the toughest times of life in 90-2000's and I was not the only one that your stories inspired.
His influence was immeasurable whether it’s anime, video games or other entertainment platforms. A lot of ppl wouldn’t be who they are today if it wasn’t for him and his creations including myself R.I.P. Toriyama
