I put my money on the ZX-25R over the 400; the ZX25R has got all the features and styling to put the Ninja 400 to bed. The sound of the ZX-25R is amazing; the exhaust notes of a Formula one car at top end. This is what I have been dreaming about for a Ninja 250 for decades, and one reason why I never bought a Ninja 250. My first small bike was an 2002 Aprilia RS50, and this was in anticipation in buying an RS250; which never occurred due to Cal restrictions for street use. However, the only option available was the 1989 Yamaha FZR400; a bike, that in my opinion of for size, has the performance and sound that is similar to the ZX-25R; a small engine displacement with all the thrill of a small sport bike. Additionally, if this bike reaches California, the ZX-25R will no doubt become a classic and valuable bike; a sure investment bike worth buying now and keeping... it will retain its value, and it will no doubt be a collectable. However, the Ninja 400 will lose much of its value and appeal over time; thereby, making it a less valuable bike and not so much of a collectable one either; the ZX-25R will no doubt be the winner over long-term appeal despite the smaller engine displacement. Now, let's see if it will be allowed into California as a legal street bike... knowing California, already, it is likely to be restricted and or banned.

IT IS a lovely little bike that likes rev high~ Thankfully, I have a ZX25R here in Indonesia and riding it is so much fun. And the seat ergonomic is not too painful for the back, it's still a great bike to ride in the city. I rode it for about 2.5 hours and yes it caused a mild back pain but my sitting position was still quite comfortable in the bike. Low end power is to be expected, but mid range (starting from 6-7000 rpm) till redline is so much fun. It has great maneuverability at low speeds and quite flickable on turns. My dream bike was its bigger brother, the ZX 636, but living in Indonesia and after experiencing this bike, this is already such a dream to ride in. It is a privilege. I still have so much to learn with this beautiful bike (I only started riding 14 months ago) and I hope I can handle it much better when I finally go to my first track day. I live in the USA. I hope this bike comes here. This bike promises to peg the fun meter. I want one! Boy do I want one! I have other bikes but for me this bike would be the prize!
It was made specifically for markets that tax above 250, no reason for it here imo. For the price you can get a proper 4 cylinder sportbike. I'd love a three cylinder 400. The twin just sounds terrible
@@bryankc9644 I would absolutely love to have one. I have a total of 4 bikes. Back in the day I had a Honda 350 4 cylinder, a bike I wish I still had. So I have kept my fetish for small displacement in line fours, especially a modern one.
I have a Yamaha R3 and Ninja 650, but this bike is a different kind of fun. I would love to add to my collection. Unfortunately, Kawasaki will not do that since it will compete directly with Ninja 400.
Oh yeah, I love the sound of a 4 cylinder inline engine. I started my cycling on a Honda CB 750 super sport and would enjoy returning after a good 30 years away from motorcycles; a small four cylinder engine would lure me back in. Bring it to the states please!
I had a CBR250R inline 4 in Japan when I was stationed there and it rocked! Sounded so good; just like a 600. Mine redlined at 18,000. The inline 4 250R’s are an amazing little bike that packs a big punch!
The baby Blade was a beaut. My friend had one and I had a Bandit 250 (v similar performance) when we were 17. I've had much bigger bikes since but would love for the ZX25R to come to the UK. Having such a lightweight little bike that eager to rev is just a different kind of fun you don't get elsewhere
Honda made the CBR 250R & then the 250RR from 1988 to the early 2000s that redlined at 20 000 RPM. they sound like f1 cars at redline, i know because there is one in the shed.
for the ones asking about it, in the philippines it costs 410,000 or in us dollars is 8,200 dollars. A gas mileage vid i saw proves that it goes 21kmpl which is good for a 4 cyclinder. Naj Abdul(ph motovlogger) really says it has no torque at all unless you rev it high from the start. if you got a question feel free to ask i can translate most zx25r vids
I like them both, I guess it depends on the buyer's purpose. If he's going to do track focused riding he would be leaning more to the zx25r but if you want a balanced bike for both streets and tracks the 400 is better. Though I'm willing to bet a modded ninja 400 can beat a zx25r in the track any day. It's lighter and it can be modified to reach 55-60hp.
There would absolutely not be any difficulty selling these in the US. Lots of new riders would love that I4 sound of a super sport without the displacement. I honestly think this would destroy ninja 400 sales
It would definitely cannibalize, the low cost, high margin ninja 400 for sure...even at a higher, more premium price. I'd buy one...formula 1 soundtrack, awesome brakes, premium suspension, high quality sport bike with no visible 'cost cutting' unlike the ninja 400...a ton of fun while staying, reasonably, within sight of posted speed limits.
@@jonathanrijos467 I'm 74 now and three and a half inches shorter than when I graduated. Retired after 40 yr. with USPS. I owned a Buell XB9R and loved it dearly, but my back didn't. I am seriously considering a 300X. My FXDWG is getting to be a little much and I just need something for riding two lane roads at a comfortable 55 to 60. The ZX25R would be a blast running around locally for short periods and the sound is sweet, sweet music.
You can find videos of this thing out in the wild now. It's actually slower off the line than something like an R3 but blows it away at the top end because the tiny little four cylinder makes all of it's power at the very top of the rev range. It would be a terrible city bike, and not too great of a highway bike because of the tank size/ fuel consumption of the thing; this bike was born and bred to live on a track, the headlights and stuff are just formalities at this point.
These bikes should definitely be compared to each other. Nicely done! The 400 will have more torque and real world street power at lower rpm. The 250 will need to be wrapped up into higher rpm to access it's power. It's all a matter of how you want your power delivery. At the end of the day, I want BOTH!!!!
Apples and oranges comparison. One is a very basic street bike, built to a very obvious 'price point' and is more of a 'commodity' product...albeit a very good one. The ZX is built as a 'premium product' with all current sport bike tech...electronics, shifter, brakes, suspension and a jewel of an inline 4 cylinder engine. It most assuredly costs more...but we're worth it !! LOL.
I rode a Ninja 300 from Sacraments to Dallas Texas. 200 bucks for gas and my ass hurt like hell . I’m in Hawaii now and dream of the 250 in-line 4. Thanks for the video.Joe Kolaski USAF
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed! I don’t think the zx will be sold over here any time soon and the 400 is a terrific bike anyway so I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I love mine. I have a new comparison video coming very soon, but what bikes would you like to see done in the future?
Absolutely, to me the zx sounds a lot better than the stock ninja 400. I made my 400 sound pretty good with a slip on so would be interesting to see how good the zx would be with one!
@@Kwackajack price update: the zx25r has been launched in the Philippines some weeks ago. They didn't announce the basic version tho. All they announced was the top spec version which was priced at 415,000 pesos. It would have been cheaper if they just shipped the partd unassembled and assembled them.in their factory here instead of importing the whole thing haha.
I feel like Kawasaki could bring the ZX-25r to the western market but in a limited run to make it more “exclusive,” and even at a premium price they’d sell quick
I like the ninja 400 better. They are both looking great 👍. The 400 is one that I would like to hold on to for a longer period of time before trading in. Glad to hear that your making such a good 250cc bike.
Ideal for track days, but with such prices ,the 250zxr costs nearly as much as a 600 sports bike of earlier years (not much earlier though),with low mileage use.
@@leonardlitanius7078 I would be interested, but Europe has a hard emission restriction order. So you might never get official papers to make it street legal.
zx25r hope it come to Australia i would buy the little black version in a heart beat the sound it makes !! would give you a hard on !! and i have a zx10RR but i still pick up this bike for the sound it makes
I believe that KHI does not want to cannibalize sales of their Ninja400 in the Western countries with the 25R. The 25R is the more premium product hence it higher retail price and cost price. The cost to certify via EPA, Euro5 Emission standards may be cost prohibitive for the 25R ,adding to KHI's reluctance in marketing this motorcycle to Western countries. They are both awesome motorcycles and I would love to try the 25R during a track day...looks like immense fun. Revs baby, lots and lots of revs!!
Two different class of bikes..I don't see how it would cut into the ninja400 sales. U said it yourself it's a premium product. Ninja 400 targets rider just getting into motorcycles. The zx-25 is more of a niche bike imho.. Kawi be stupid not to bring it to the us...
@@thomaswag80 Certification to meet Euro and North American emission standards is very expen$ive...and...with sportbike sales, generally, in decline, KHI would be taking a huge financial risk in marketing this model to western countries, especially so since most motorcycle sales in western countries are considered essentially 'toys' and not primary transportation. I, for one, am hoping that they take that risk!
But the displacement wont suffice on our Expressway Regulation of above 400CC... if we got tailed or caught by expressway police we will be busted for sure... Even if we knew the torque, rpm and performance is way ahead of the Ninja 400.. Still am planning to get one :)
we have the zx25r here in Mauritius... its insanely pricy but worth the buck.... I dont personally own one but I can here its screams almost everyday in my neighbourhood... one of a kind....
It's difficult to justify buying this bike over the 400 / 500 twins. Although the zx25r has comparable peak power at REDLINE, the 400/500 twins that most markets have make more power and torque across the entire rev range than the zx25r. The only way I see this making sense is for super light weight track class
I live in Indonesia and I have new ninja 250 (ninja 400 model) when i see zx25r in my city, looks amazing, not easy to have that one, even have money, because need to wait and limited
The zx25r is quite expensive but it has more features while the 400 is cheaper less features but can be a daily commuter. The zx25r will have less fuel range but I can say that it will be a very exciting bike.
Exactly right my friend. I believe when researching the specs I saw the zx had a 15l tank compared to the 14 on the 400. But doubt there would be much difference. Which one do you prefer?
I like both just curious is the zx25r a lams approved bike? Or would it be too powerful? Thanks for the insight these bikes both look and sound awesome!!
Ninja 400 is basically a budget parallel twin bore. Brought to UK to fit with the nonsense lower power licence we have. The 25r is a trick small supersports bike that is exciting like the imports of the 90s. We need this in the UK. Also imagine if the made this in to a proper 400 inline 4 supersports. That would be like the 90s again. And amazing.
I own a 400 and it’s a great bike. Value wise, tough to beat, and why I’d don’t think the baby ZX will ever come to the west. If they brought the ZX-25R to the US market, I’d get one in the KRT livery. I have my doubts that will ever happen, but if Kawasaki is listening, I will throw down on one of these. All the 4-cylinder fun, none of the liter bike insurance premium.
Thank you so much for a informative video. I was a bit confused which bike should i buy. So after watching your video i want bought both of them. In moto gp game
I think the BIG 4 should offer their version of the supercharged 250cc motorcycle in the U. S., not just Kawasaki. Another option idea would be to offer supercharger upgrade kits for existing small displacement engines.
I’d love to get a zx25r, there’s just something funny about lighting up the whole street while going 50mph 😂 it’s even more painful because it’s so slow to leave
well if Kawasaki decides to bring back the old but great ZXR-400 inline 4 cylinder and still offers the Ninja 400 (EX-400), no doubt I'll take the ZXR-400 all day! but that would be another story for another fine day....
I was hoping the Ninja ZX-25R would have the weight under 170 Kg fully tanked. But as it might never see the light in Europe, it should not really matter to me.
Nice content. Well done. I agree with you, we need to open up the " trickle down market" the 1000 superbikes are not practical. Have you seen the new Aprilia 660? How about your review? CHEERS MATE
The zx25r has 50hp on the crank but on the wheel it produces 41hp. There are some videos of the zx25r hitting 186km/h. The ninja 400 has 44hp on the wheel and can go a little bit more than 200km/h. So in this department the ninja 400 wins! and it is lighter.
Yep, like I said a bit of conflicting data but tried to get the most accurate I could find. Really comes down to preference in the end, which do you like better?
I'm a somewhat new rider, been riding for 2-3 years (50cc scooter for a year first), but now I ride a 1978 Honda Cx500 c. I've been looking into getting a 400 for myself as my 1st New bike, but after seeing this video; If they brought that lil ZX to the United States, I'd take a real look into it before buying a 400, just for the possible extra power/more customization.
well if you will buy that one you don't need to upgrade much..since almost all are there.. my r3 its already going to that price once I complete the upgrades including slipper clutch and quick shifter..though no TC available for r3..

Love the sound of that zx25 😍 Another great video Kwackajack, all your stuff is really entertaining and informative. Keep them coming!!!
Thanks for supporting the channel mate!
Kwackajack 😃😃👍🏻
For practicality, the 400. But for the inline4 sake, the zx25r is just incredible
I'd buy the ZX25R, even if it had lower horsepower than the 400. NOTHING beats that inline 4-cylinder scream!

Your bike was a legend, I'm 40 and I have fond memories of this inline 4. They don't do bikes like this anymore.

Cbr250 fireblade mc22
hey mate, love the videos....just bought my first Ninja 400 myself. LOVE IT !!!!
So glad they have bought out a four cylinder 250 again. Would love to see a four cylinder 400 again .Like the cbr 400r gsx400 and ZX400 from the 90s.
Completely agree, I'd be all over a 400cc 4 cyl
Your channel is underrated man you should have more supporters. handsdown for comprehensive details and narration...
Cheers mate! 🙏🏻
25R should be hell a lot of fun on track, really want to try one if I have the chance one day.
This new ZX-25R also looks very nice. Very well build. Tge headlight is just awesome.
I’m an experienced rider on a fireblade but that ninja 400 seems like a sweet daily
Zx for sure, love the sound of a in-line4
i bought the standard version (non ABS, no quick shifter) of ZX25R and i'm very happy with it
Very well put together, nice informative vid👍
Im riding the Ninja 300 now...i really wish the ZX25R to come to Singapore!
Honda made the CBR 250R & then the 250RR from 1988 to the early 2000s that redlined at 20 000 RPM. they sound like f1 cars at redline, i know because there is one in the shed.
Yes, please bring this bike to the USA. Love the blue model!
Kawasaki need to bring it here so we can enjoy our smaller bikes to hear it screaming at 18000RPM is fun
for the ones asking about it, in the philippines it costs 410,000 or in us dollars is 8,200 dollars. A gas mileage vid i saw proves that it goes 21kmpl which is good for a 4 cyclinder. Naj Abdul(ph motovlogger) really says it has no torque at all unless you rev it high from the start. if you got a question feel free to ask i can translate most zx25r vids
That's a good price!
I think ZX25R is a good hobby bike, but not a good daily long-commute bike due to the less torque. But it sure is enough for inter-city commute.
Agree with you, but on end of the day i take ninja650 (68hp and great comfort). btw. im rookie 😉
I'd buy one...formula 1 soundtrack, awesome brakes, premium suspension, high quality sport bike with no visible 'cost cutting' unlike the ninja 400...a ton of fun while staying, reasonably, within sight of posted speed limits.
according the owner of 2020 zx250r, the top speed is around 192-194 km/h
how much is that in mph?
Around 119-120mp/h
@Leafcrash17 mine stock reaches 124 mph
I love the little 250, but I think I would be happier with the 400.
I agree. Torque is king on a street bike. The 250R on a track day would be awesome though.
I have a 2012 kawasaki ninja 250 ex and i am buying a 2020 kawasaki ninja 400 but i still want the 2021 Kawasaki ninja ZX 25 R
Thanks a lot, the two bikes was so nice 😊
LOL.
Damn! I wanted a Ninja 650 but that ZX 25R is making me rethink everything
I rode a Ninja 300 from Sacraments to Dallas Texas. 200 bucks for gas and my ass hurt like hell . I’m in Hawaii now and dream of the 250 in-line 4. Thanks for the video.Joe Kolaski USAF
Awesome video mate! Still thinking of going with the 400 over here in Perth. The new 2021 models look fresh as too!
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed! I don’t think the zx will be sold over here any time soon and the 400 is a terrific bike anyway so I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I love mine. I have a new comparison video coming very soon, but what bikes would you like to see done in the future?
ZX25R is the beast of his category. 4inline sounds is like music to my ear. And more expressive than ninja 400
Absolutely, to me the zx sounds a lot better than the stock ninja 400. I made my 400 sound pretty good with a slip on so would be interesting to see how good the zx would be with one!
Sounds amazing, wish I could ride
@@Kwackajack price update: the zx25r has been launched in the Philippines some weeks ago. They didn't announce the basic version tho. All they announced was the top spec version which was priced at 415,000 pesos. It would have been cheaper if they just shipped the partd unassembled and assembled them.in their factory here instead of importing the whole thing haha.
Kwackajack wanna see the zx25r by Naj Abdul moto vlog? Give it a try dude it’s awesome.
400 for newbies
25R awesome track day bike.
Plus around town buster.
I feel like Kawasaki could bring the ZX-25r to the western market but in a limited run to make it more “exclusive,” and even at a premium price they’d sell quick
On my stock Ninja 400 (just has an Akra slipon), I got more than 200kph on the freeway. It really depends on the rider's weight.
I like the ninja 400 better. They are both looking great 👍. The 400 is one that I would like to hold on to for a longer period of time before trading in. Glad to hear that your making such a good 250cc bike.
I’m never selling my 400 it’s such a damn good bike
Ideal for track days, but with such prices ,the 250zxr costs nearly as much as a 600 sports bike of earlier years (not much earlier though),with low mileage use.
Very nice content. You deserve a Sub🤘 im a new fan. Ride safe. Love from Philippines☺️
Welcome aboard!
Waiting for the baby zx to launch ❤️❤️
1:28 looks like a PUBG drop in the far distance.
😂😂😂
Keep it up review more bikes keep us updated always
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, will do!
I hope the zx 25r comes to the uk
You deserve more subsriber pal! ride safe
Much appreciated!
Bring it to EUROPE, and i will buy 2 x ZX-25R 💕
i might can help you if price is no problem
edit : my country got the 51 hp version
@@leonardlitanius7078 I would be interested, but Europe has a hard emission restriction order. So you might never get official papers to make it street legal.
@@sportify4849 as race only bike? maybe yes, street using... maybe no
@@leonardlitanius7078 Hi
Can you still help me get one?
@@leonardlitanius7078 Have you figuerd out how to do it legally?
I simpered satisfyingly when hearing ZX-25R sound 🤤
Great video
I think ZX-25R would be hard to sell here in the PH due to highway legalities. That's about 400k PHP but is not highway legal.
Nice video!
Nice imformation....love from north east assam💚🌷
I recently got a 2006 NInja250, I would have been drooling over these if they were available in the US.
I tried out the zx25r and its a gem :)
Id like the fact that u mention Philippines.u got my filipino sub.
Love you guys 🙌🏻
Nice vid bro 💕
zx25r hope it come to Australia i would buy the little black version in a heart beat the sound it makes !! would give you a hard on !! and i have a zx10RR but i still pick up this bike for the sound it makes
That's something we agree on. I hope they bring over here two. KHI reviving a motor class that has thought to be dead for years.
Very nice bike, cool vid 😉😀
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed.
Love the comparison. I ride a ninja400 but definitely wanting the 25r. Watching form the Philippines. Btw PH price for the krt is 410,000
But the displacement wont suffice on our Expressway Regulation of above 400CC... if we got tailed or caught by expressway police we will be busted for sure...
Good job including the philippine's price. These 2 bikes are VERY popular in the philippine market.
Nice comparison review bro👍👍👍+1
I'm riding a 2020 ninja 400 with ABS and love it is so fun
It's difficult to justify buying this bike over the 400 / 500 twins. Although the zx25r has comparable peak power at REDLINE, the 400/500 twins that most markets have make more power and torque across the entire rev range than the zx25r.
The only way I see this making sense is for super light weight track class
Great video, very informative. Support all the way frm PH. 👌
Thanks mate, appreciate the support 🙌🏻 glad you enjoyed
I live in Indonesia and I have new ninja 250 (ninja 400 model) when i see zx25r in my city, looks amazing, not easy to have that one, even have money, because need to wait and limited
I really want the 25R..sound sooooo cool! Reminds me a lot the CBR250RR from the 90´s
Would like to see if Yamaha going to join the competition with their i4 crossplane
@@Kwackajack I prefer the 400 it's more versatile I believe. The question is which one is faster.... 🤔
I agree, the 400 is probably the more versatile and bike
Hands down, I'd definitely pick the ZX25R over the 400. It's got better exhaust note and more high tech features.
Less top speed and acceleration, weights more, not as nimble and as easy,400 looks better imo and aftermarket exhaust improves sound alot
Correction with the price of zx25r here in the philippines, it's Php415,000, just released recently
Official price in the Philippines is 410,000php. Only the top of the line zx25r is being sold.
11k AUD, ouch, if they ever sell it in Australia thats quite some money to make the final decision.
@@endoplasma yeah, it's kinda pricey.
PLEASE BRING THIS SCREAMING INLINE 4 250CC TO AMERICA
I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE
tell mr trump
Nice bike my friend i like them both. Be safe always in your ride god bless.
thx for the info mate!
A high rev low top speed bike that isn't built like an entry level bike is the only kind I'm interested in.
Thank you so much for a informative video. I was a bit confused which bike should i buy. So after watching your video i want bought both of them. In moto gp game
Glad I could help
I think the BIG 4 should offer their version of the supercharged 250cc motorcycle in the U. S., not just Kawasaki. Another option idea would be to offer supercharger upgrade kits for existing small displacement engines.
Great review dude. New subs from ph 🇵🇭 👌
Welcome aboard!
I'm surprised and disappointment that the 25 isn't lighter. If it was, then I'd say it's worth the extra $1000, for sure.
Nice information 👍
The original revd to 19,500 ish and sounded like a dang F1 car when it was uncorked! I want this bike!
CHEERS MATE
I have a new comparison up now between the RS 660 and the new Ducati SuperSport 950 :)
Here in the Philippines, hmmm, Ninja 400, nevermind the extra 3hp when you have more torque in much lower rpm range 😄
Someone in indonesia got 195 KPH with akrapovic exhaust.
zx25r goes over 190kph
Sorry to say yesterday in indonesia zx25r hit 202kmh
Afi Xdafi probably wasn’t stock, the zx25r cuts at 197km/h in 6th gear stock. I’ve seen the ninja 400 hitting 206km/h gps stock.
It is already released here in the Philippines, however the price is way to high 410,000 pesos.
well if you will buy that one you don't need to upgrade much..since almost all are there..
my r3 its already going to that price once I complete the upgrades including slipper clutch and quick shifter..though no TC available for r3..
