      It can find coins at around 6-8 inches deep. I played around with it a little more after the video right before it started to rain. It is a decent, basic, non-pro detector more geared towards beginners just starting out. In it's price range it beats out all the other low priced ones I've tried and reviewed and blows away the SunPow and others like it. In my opinion it is very much like their MT-XR, but just a different design. It is light as a feather and really easy to use and good for basic metal detecting. Anyone just starting out and not very tech savvy can use it easily.

      You need to use the pinpoint function or get a handheld pin pointer or you will never find the object unless you are lucky.

      Yet Iue not. I have used the pinpoint and still have spent hours digging for ghost coins.

    • @FuturesPast1
      @FuturesPast1  Рік тому +1

      @@Ocea8i53 Make sure you are not near any power or electrical lines. Your detector could be getting ghost signals. Also keep your cell phone away from it. The detector picks up electrical signals from it.
      If you are near a power grid or have electrical power lines or cable lines from the cable company above you or nearby, you will need to lower the sensitivity on the machine.
      You also might not be digging deep enough and are missing the object. The machine tells you how deep to dig, but can be off by an inch or two so then you got to dig a deeper plug to find it.
      Also if you don't have one already, get yourself a hand held pinpointer. I would never be able to find even one coin or small object in the ground if I did not have my hand held pinpointer to aid me when I dig up a plug.
      The machine's built in pinpointer will not help you hone in on an object within one inch of it like a handheld pinpointer.
      When you dig up a plug you need to check the plug with a handheld pinpointer and also stick the pinpointer in the hole you just dug up to accurately find the object. You can get a cheap one on Amazon for under $20..

    • @Ocea8i53
      @Ocea8i53 Рік тому +2

      @FuturesPast1 even the pinfindet detects things, not their. Even if there's dirt on it, and it's still going off like a firecracker. I have tried it in the woods, and it did detect pieces of a set of aluminum bird feeders. But outside of that, even though I have dug many deep holes --leaving dead grass-- anyhow I dont dig near any power lines, and cell phone isnt near by. I have purchased a 32 dollar detector and even that detects things and I dig more and more and nothing, yet I keep on going out, hoping to find things and no matter even if I fine nothing, I will continue on, but maybe with a bigger better metal detector

    • @FuturesPast1
      @FuturesPast1  Рік тому +2

      @@Ocea8i53 Maybe you got a defective unit then. Also, you could be swinging it way too fast. Swinging it too fast makes it give phantom signals. Try to slow down when you are swinging your arm and see if that makes it better.
      If slowing down when you are swinging it is not making it better, maybe you can contact the seller through Amazon and ask them to send you a different one and return this one. I personally think the MT-XR (older model) is better than this one. Maybe they will let you switch this model for the MT-XR. I have several pro machines that cost $600-$800 and I still enjoy using the older Dr. Otek MT-XR version the most.
      It could also be a faulty control panel. Maybe they can send you another one you can swap out. As you can see there are many probabilities why your machine could be behaving this way. Nearby powerlines and heavy metal mineral deposits in the soil are also a big culprit.
      Good luck and if I were you, I would contact DR. Otek. You can also find them on FaceBook too and instant message them about your issue. Just make sure you have your Amazon order number to give them. They have very good customer service. When the first machine I bought from them, The (MT-XR) model gave me control panel issues, I contacted them through Amazon with my order number and they let me return the faulty one and sent me a new one that works great.
      I made them a video of it glitching out and uploaded it to UA-cam and sent them the link. Then they were very happy to send me a new machine. Maybe you can make a video of it giving all those false signals and show them it. You might even be swinging it incorrectly and a video showing you using it can help them to help you. Are your sensitivity levels set too high maybe? The soil by you could have a lot of iron in it, making it go off like crazy too.

The Vanquish 340 is inexpensive, easy easy to use, and has amazing Minelab multi frequency. Get the slightly higher priced 440 if you can though for more settings options. You may not need them though. Get a pinpointer to help locate coins in the hole.

    You're a mad woman... 🤣
    If they need another reviewer It would be cool if you dropped my name. 😉😁
    That was the weirdest sounding pinpointing mode I ever heard. I would suggest to them a V.C.O. pinpoint mode, or learn what Voltage Controlled Oscillator really means.
    I wonder what percentage of a First Texas Products is cloned in that circuit board? 😋
    Also they're going for the Simplex & Equinox look with the straight shaft.
    I bet it's a decent detector, and probably runs around 7Khz. But they would be wise running it around 12Khz for lower conductor sensitivity.
    Nice hand digger too.
    👍👍

    • @FuturesPast1
      @FuturesPast1  2 роки тому

      Many good points you made. This is a detector that is in a very low price range though ($100-$130), and at this price still comes with headphones, a finds bag and a high quality digger. If they added all the features you mentioned than it would have to sell for a few hundred bucks. This one is more geared towards a budget minded beginner who is first starting out who is not ready to go pro yet. For hunting coins and basic detecting this one does a decent job in it's low price range and it is more for people that never handled a metal detector before. The control panel is easy to understand and learn in under 5 minutes.
      The MT-XR model of theirs also has the same sound for pin pointing and I love it. It has the best built in pin pointer out of all the ones I have used and reviewed, even better than my more expensive ones. It hones in on the exact spot in the center circle of the coil to find the object. I enjoy their other version the MT-XR a lot and actually like to use it way more than my Fisher F22 and Bounty Hunter Time Ranger Pro. I found more things with it than my more expensive ones which is quite surprising and baffling. I am not a pro at this hobby and that could be why.
      I still don't know how to properly use those expensive ones I have and they are collecting dust in my closet until I can figure out how to set the control panels and ground balance them properly. This one is ready to use straight out of the box and even an idiot like me can figure out how to use it, lol.

      @@zincolnminer6671 Great points! I actually have the Tianxun 850. It is made of high quality materials and feels like a more expensive detector. I gave it a whirl a few times and gave up on it because it's built in pin pointer could not help me hone in accurately on the right spot where the object was.
      It was a drag to use because of that. I would always find myself going back to using my Dr Otek MT-XR for coin shooting and being much more able to find the object's exact spot with it much easier than the TX-850. The MT-XR was the closest to the Ace Garrett 300 in my opinion. The Garrett Ace 300 is my favorite out of my more expensive detectors.
      I enjoy using those two more than my Fisher F22 and Bounty Hunter Time Ranger Pro. I just have not mastered the control panels on them. No matter how many videos I watch, I still can't figure out how to properly set the F22 and Bounty Hunter and I find myself reaching for my easier to use MT-XR or Ace Garrett 300 when detecting or coin shooting. The MT-XE is almost identical to the MT-XR except for a different body design and different kinds of land modes.
      I wanted to like the TX-850 because it had such a high quality build, but I just couldn't enjoy using it. I may sound stupid saying this, but despite the TX-850 being a better all around detector, the little circle in the center of the coil on the Dr Otek helped me find the objects it detected much quicker without me having to cut multiple plugs to find it's exact location.
      Now if I had more experience and practice using the TX-850, my opinion might change. I feel like getting it back out again and practicing with it to figure out where the sweet spot is on the coil in the pinpoint mode.
      I just have no places to use it now since I have no transportation to get me anywhere to detect. My yard has been picked over now. I will hopefully get the use of the family car soon from my husband and try testing them out side by side for a comparison video.

      I'm sorry I am not sure what your question is asking? Are you asking how long the battery lasts? If yes, it varies. If you keep the screen light on, it will drain quickly. Probably will last 2-5 hours is my guess. I always bring extra 9 volt batteries with me because batteries in metal detectors don't last long and you don't want to get caught metal detecting and the batteries go dead on you without a back-up.
