My heat has been acting up for days! The pilot would not stay lit. I cleaned the heater and tried everything. On one of the coldest nights here where temps are 18 degrees, it kept going out! I came to UA-cam and found you guys! I followed your instructions about the thermocouple. I didn’t have an air pressure torch or anything, I used a straw and blew really hard in the line. 😂afterwards I saw the flame connected like the one on your demonstration and I said thank God! I’m hoping it stays for me. Thank you for this video! I was looking really hard to find my heater type on here . God bless and thanks again!
Awesome glad you got it.
Thank you so much from a 61 year old disabled female.... I fixed it.
Thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching.
@@2TrailHikers , My pilot lite stays lit until I turn the flame up and then both go out. What could cause that issue? ThanQ for your help.
I'm sorry but it could be a number of things. I would recommend having it checked by a gas repair service.
@@2TrailHikers , ok thanQ
@@2TrailHikers, Evidently my son got it working. 👍
Thank you for the best advice on wall heater pilot light issues on UA-cam. Respect!
Thanks
2 years on this upload and still helping people out like myself , thank you ! Good cleaning on the pilot line and it finally stayed on
Thank you.
Best video on UA-cam about this problem. He didn’t make a 10 minute video on a 5 minute fix. He sounds like a Alabama or Georgia boy. Good people down south. Could be Mississippi too.
Thank you, South Carolina. 😄
It worked i didn't have an air compressor but I did have two bendy straws and slapped them together, blew down the pilot and Blue flame no yellow. Thank you
Southern Propane, Orangeburg, SC charging $200 to do this. Thanks sir for your help.
So glad I found this video. I’m a recent widow and my heater is exactly like this and after watching I think I can clean it without hiring someone!
Thanks man, we were worried the compressed air might blow up our boiler 😅
We love your accent, from the U.K.
❤
Thanks, you guys have a great accent too.
Our air source heat pump died leaving us with 2 gas fireplaces as back up. One of them was having issues with the pilot flame being too small and the adjuster screw did nothing. After blowing it out the pilot light w/30 psi air, the fire starts up in 5 seconds vs 2 minutes, the screw works, and our fireplace doesn't explode as much. Really appreciated.
Awesome
Thank you very much. Your video help me a lot.
Lovely accent! Amazing how often it's just a tiny glitch that stops everything working, that's so easy to fix - when you know how! Thank you :)
You just saved me the cost of a thermocouple and about a years worth of frustration. Mine had some lint or a cobweb in it, I’ve been fighting this thing way too long! Now my pilot is a beautiful pressurized blue and the heater works perfectly 👌🏼 thanks so much!!
Awesome glad it helped thank you for watching please subscribe if you haven't already.
Love how to the point this video was and how you had clear visuals. Nice work!
Omg u r a blessing ty ty u save a single mom from being so stress ty ty
Glad we could help thank you for watching.
@@2TrailHikers i just finished it up an hour ago so far awesome ty ty 😊 be safe n God bless you and your family ty
Thank you , Sir! Saved myself a service call in 10 minutes, including taking it apart and getting out the canned air and vacuum to suck out the bufs and dust behind the cover.
Awesome thank you for watching.
You saved my life man.ALMOST THROW AWAY MY HEATER.THANK YOU.
Awesome
That's great advice!! Thank you!!
Thanks for the kind words.
Thank you! I took a basketball pump and blew the orphas out and immediately got a bigger flame.
Works great now! Thank you.
Awesome thank you for watching
Thanks so much for this video. My pilot light wouldn’t stay lit. I almost gave up and was about to call a repair man. Then I saw your video. I shot some compressed air through where the pilot light come out and it fixed the issue. Thanks a million for the video
You just saved me $70! Instead of having the gas company come light it, I did it on my own! Thank you
Awesome! I'm glad it helped thank you for watching and please subscribe.
You Sir, saved me a bundle! My Pro Com Heater Stove had the same problem... the pilot wouldn't stay lit. After watching your video, I checked and sure enough, it had a weak pilot flame ( Vertical, yellow flame... no contact with Thermocouple).
I cleaned out the pilot tube and now it's working as intended. Many thanks!
Awesome glad it helped.
Thank you! I used a straw and gently blew into the pilot light (everything was turned off) and debris blew out and it turned on first try and stayed on! Thank you!!!!!!!
Awesome thanks for watching
I used a camera lens puffer and blew out 2 large dust bunnies. The flame hits the thermocouple now. Thanks for you awesome video.
Awesome great idea. Thanks for watching.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Our main gas furnace went out (needs $$$ in replacement parts) but the gas fireplace wasn’t working and this fixed it!! Thanks again!
Awesome thank you for watching
It worked cleaned my heater 3 times before I watched your video. 🤪. I cleaned the gas. Tube there was dust clumps in there works great now. Thank you a bunch it's getting cold here now . My wife was turning blue 🤣🤣. Lol she was holding her breath hoping she didn't have to call the gas company.
Lol awesome glad you got it going. Thank you for watching. If you haven't please subscribe.
Yes and Amen you have answered all my questions thank you
Thanks for watching
Your instructions made all the difference!
Awesome. Thanks
very good tips for pilot that needs cleaning!
Thanks
It worked! Just blow out the pilot light assembly! And of course, wipe away/clean any dirt and corrosion. Thank YOU
Thanks! Didn't have a can of compressed air, but I used a small wire brush to clean it, then a straw to blow it out a few times. Back to a beautiful blue pilot flame!
Glad you said straw because I didn't want to damage something sensitive inside the pilot, I'm using myself straw right now because you did it and it worked, mines could use a cleaning too.
Awesome
Glad you got it going.
Great video, right to the point , today I learned something.
Good job . Helped me!
Yes that is a big one....However it can be the opposite of too much air flow... I actually had to heavy tape one of my vent holes to balance the flame....
Works great.👍👍
Thanks buddy this helped and worked 100% top man thank you from the UK
Thank you for the kind words and watching.
Thanks so much i just blew it with my breath and boom lighting good.
Awesome
Thank you for showing a close up of everything!
Others have the camera set on a table or similar, way back. Frustrated, I almost gave up
I have a 5 panel plaque comfort glow that wouldn't stay lit the end of last season right before spring. I cleaned the thermo coupler etc. Worked great.
I turned it back on this month and it still worked fine but, problem started again.
I noticed that the pilot flame was weak after I opened the casing and got a whole lot of debris, cob webs....out. the intense heat causes the inside powder coating to flake off over time. It gathers down into the guts of the heater
I didn't know what the heck happened until I watched your video.
I have a blue flame comfort glow that I put in so I could have some heat until I figured out the problem. It doesn't heat as well as the radiant plaque model does; it uses more gas. It's not as efficient as the radiant model.
Long post, my apologies.
I noticed the air inlet when I had everything opened.
I'll bet I got something on the pilot opening because that flame was extremely smaller than usual.
It all makes sense.
I'll follow your tips now that it's disconnected.
Very grateful. This heater is 16 years old and has heated my old house pretty well.
I do have a question.
I noticed that the double sided tape that holds a thermostat end, got old and came off.
Does it attach to the case?
I figured that flopping around in there might send a signal to the pilot light assembly at the top of the heater.
The long copper wire from this thermostat, goes into the pilot light assembly, too.
No kinks or anything. I don't know where I should glue the piece that it snaps into.
It's just like the inside of my window unit a/c, that snaps into the inside cooling fins behind the filter.
If you need more information, I can try to describe better or take a photo of it and send to you in a DM
Thank you for watching. Just keep in mind I'm no expert and our videos are for entertainment only use them at your own risk.
Understood. I'm just grateful someone showed what I was seeing so I understood how to clean the pilot light assembly
If you know where I should reattach the thermostat end, that would be great
@@REXXKUNKEL65 I would guess it goes in the gas valve.
I suspect that's at least part of what's ailing my gas heater. Thanks loads!
Thank you for watching.
Great video spot on..thanks for make the videos
Thank you.
Thanks alot.. for the advice..will go fix my gas heaters nw ...
Good luck thank you for watching.
I'm going to try this, I have no other hope🤷🏼♀️ I have a NEW, from Lowe's Procom ventless dual fuel fire place that I hooked up on a NEW, propane system. My heater won't even attempt to light. I bled the lines manually & I am getting propane at the back of the heater but apparently that's it. I have no sound or smell of propane when I turn the knob to pilot & depress the knob. Idk what else to try & it's going to be in the teens the next few days where I live😩
Legend 🙏
Fix it ☺️
😁
Thank you so much i just did this and it worked.
Awesome
Thanks nice demo!
Thanks a bunch.
You're welcome!
Sincere question here, why wouldn’t you remove the orifice before blowing the debris out? Didn’t you just unblock the orifice but leave the debris in the line? I would think it’s going to get clogged again.
Thank you
👍
Great work! Thank you!
Thank you for this video
You're welcome, thank you for watching.
It did help. Thanks!
Excellent!
U SAVED MY LIFE OMG TYTYTYTYTY
👍
Thank you so much very helpful 🙏🏻
What do you do when you have don't that but gas is coming out of the propane and natural gas pilot lights and kicks heater off after a few min.
Thanks. This is exactly what I needed to know.
Awesome. Glad we could help. Thank you for watching.
Great job, thank you. This really works!
Awesome thank you.
Thank great vid 👍
Thank you
Dude! Needed this video SO BADLY! Thanks for this info.
One question: the pilot on my Mr. Heater comes on with no problem; when the knob is turned to actually light the burners, the pilot goes out. At first, the burners would "flash" ignite, meaning the burners would light but for like a split second, and then the pilot would go out. Eventually, like I said, the burners wouldn't light at all and the pilot would go out ONLY after the knob is turned to light the burners. As long as the knob is not turned, the pilot stay on. Any thoughts?
Sounds like there may be an issue with the gas valve or thermocouple. I'm no expert just guessing.
thank you , I have a gas heater and the light won't stay lit though I replaced the thermocouple and magnetic bobene but nothing chang , please help me, thanks.
Sounds like you covered the basics may need a propane tech to take a look at it.
Thank you; and Jesus loves you!
👍
That was easy. Thanks
Thank you for your energy! 👍🤞🏻🙌👏
👍
Why does there appear to be a 2nd pilot light to the left?
Dual gas units have one for natural gas and one for propane.
Awesome
Mine is the safety bit, it won't stay out, soon as u let go off the control knob the safety disconnects and off it goes...im looking for a quick fix..I'll just strap it up if can't find ought..I'll light it and strap something across the knob so it can't slip out and knock safety off
I believe you would need to have it checked.
@@2TrailHikers so Ur telling me u have not a single suggestion ?
@Sol-Cutta it's possibly a combination of the thermocouple and the gas valve, but no easy way to know.
i have a mr heater ventless propane wall mount , it is roughly 4 months old, it is used in our home gym. This morning it started to act up, the pilot will light but it will not stay lit, it is a nice blue big pilot flame but it will not stay going. Any suggestions?
The thermocouple has to heat up and open the gas valve. So you can release the pilot button. If it is not hot enough or the valve is not opening. Could be low on propane. I'm not really sure. I am no expert i do these videos for entertainment please use at your own risk.
@@2TrailHikers I tried 2 different brand new full tanks to make sure it was not a tank issue. I am going to try to clean it tonight and see what happens. If that does not work then probably a thermocouple issue. At that point i may just bypass it, its only used in our gym anyways while we workout.
Hello sir! I have a problem and it's cold here. I need questions answered lol.
I'm sorry don't know how much help I can be.
Thank you so much. Great video.
Thank you.
Thank you sir. It worked!
Thank you!!
My gas heater works sometimes but others iwillput it on polit lit turned it up but when I take my hand away poilet goes out and fire goes off please help
There's a number of reasons that could be happening. Probably need to have it diagnosed.
Thank you sir! Very well done video, I’m gonna get right on it.
Thank you for watching and the kind words.
My pilot light turns on stays on my problem once the room reach temperature the heater shuts off and the pilot also shuts off it should stay on what's the problem?
ours is clean and still when you go from pilot to on it goes out. not sure what to do next. unit is only 1 year old and this is the second one.
There is a couple of reasons why it could do that. I'm afraid you would need someone to test it.
What does it mean when the flame is coming out the hole you had circled in red
Sounds like low pressure
@@2TrailHikers the tank is new
@@cjent6945 possible regulator. I am no expert.
Hello sir , I have that same heater but the knob is stuck and won’t turn. Any suggestions please and thank you
I've never ran into that before.
You have to push it down on the mr heater I have
@@joshrepik Thanks for helping out.
Aren't you just blowing the debris back into the gas line where the gas pressure will eventually just blow it right back to clog everything again eventually? Why not unhook the gas line at the other end and blow the clog right out the orifice?
Thanks a bunch bud bud! 👍🏾
You're welcome, thank you for watching.
Need Help: I have Intermittent Heatilator Gas Fire log Model# ND42361. I have two wall switches. When I turn the 1st wall switch (power) nothing happens but after turning the 2nd wall switch the pilot comes on and stays on but the burner does not. I have: Replaced the IPI electronic ignition control module & A/C Wall Adaptor. Cleaned burner holes and heat sensor (flame is close to heat sensor - heat sensor turns red) . I will truly appreiciate if anyone can let me know what other troubleshooting I can do to get the burner working ? Blessings
I get to light a flame but it wont stay on..pls help
I am no expert. The flame has to heat up the thermocouple to hold the gas valve open for the pilot light to stay lit. Hold the pilot in for about 10 seconds after it lights if it will not stay lit at that point you will need a gas tech to check it.
OK!!!
My pilot light will light but when I turn it up after a minute goes out
Same kind of heater as in this video ( yes I did everything in this video I don't know what to do)
Unfortunately it could be a number of things. At this point might be best served to have a tech take a look at it.
👍👍
I would love to do this but i cant get to the dang pilot. Its a buck stove gas logs and i cant figure out how to get the cover off🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ super annoying. The manual says nothing, just to remove it. Not helpful. I JUST paid a fortune to fill my tanks so affording a technician isnt happening. BLAH
Tackled a bunch of bolts and metal plates and got it done! Pilot lit and on yay!
Awesome
Speak much
Thank you! Great Video.
Thank you for watching
