This is the most helpful video I've seen so far about this process. I feel strongly that I will be establishing my hair in the next year (I've watched a whole boatload of sisterloc videos), although I have not signed with a sister loctician; research is paramount for me. Gratefully, I live in Boston, so I trust I'll be able to find someone- but I've seen that in my history with practitioners (even though I am one myself as a massage therapist) that I am VERY non-confrontational regarding my own care. It's something I'm working on to ensure I get my needs met- so I am grateful to have these questions, and know that I can walk in confident, ready with questions that I wouldn't have thought of watching other pro/con videos. Thank you for your straightforward quality and grace.

Thank you so...much! This was very informational. I'm 6 months into my journey and having issues with things going on with my locs. When I examine them I'm seeing little holes within the locs. When was was asking questions in the beginning about my locs my consultant didn't give me informative information in response. My seriously concerned. I like her and think she is a nice person however...I'm left feeling ensure about my experience.
You are so correct in questioning how the person feels about the sisterloc brand. My consultant didn't show high regards for the owner and brand and I'm now experiencing her using a different tool. This video helped me to not feel bad about finding another consultant and getting a second opinion on the questions I have.
    Love your spirit!

You have some great advice. I am nine months in and I am scheduled to have a retightening with a different consultant because I cannot solely depend on my current consultant. Also, I was disappointed with some of her actions regarding my time and missing a few appointment times. Plus, it’s nice to have a back up. I guess I will find out how she feels during my next retightening with her.

    • @TunisiaAli
      @TunisiaAli  6 років тому +3

Wow!! Ahwwww....Yes, I can understand the backup thing. Its critical. I realized this once when my consultant was unable to accommodate me. Sigh! I was naively shocked and caught off guard. She had also for some time spoke about relocating to a neighboring state. Although she is mobile now, and comes to my home, I have a other sister I use occasionally. Everything can happen, so it's good you are preparing for that!! Best of luck sister!

I am so glad I found your videos!!! I am considering getting Sisterlocks and I appreciated you pointing out all the questions I should ask prior to getting them installed. I have been natural for well over a decade, and despite doing all the things one is supposed to do to get have a headful of healthy hair, I cannot retain any length whatsoever. That being said, I am not going to rush to get Sisterlocks installed because you mentioned the part about energy, and I know I am do not have the right energy to receive them now. I would like to know more about what to do before getting Sisterlocks, but from the point of the hair itself, meaning, should I have it trimmed, deep-conditioned, etc., right before I get it done?

Great video! I have watched several videos over the last few months and I have my consult on Saturday. I have one main consultant that I like and then, I have a backup that is a licensed cosmetologist. I have spoken with her about finding someone else when needed to do certain things that I need. She is trained under a Brand Ambassador and I spoke with her, as well. I'm very excited for this journey and this video was very helpful! I'm going to ask her about how many locks she expects for me to have. I already have prices and flyers for her etc. I'm trying to Be as diligent as possible! I had hair loss during high school and I told her about it and she said we would talk about it more during my consult.

I know that you look on the website and find one in your area but if this is not one close by then what’s the best way to find a person? I have been waiting to see whether or not if you can say who your person is or if you can’t say for a particular reason. Thank you for sharing your wonderful advice.

I do have a question about dye. Although, my hair is natural (no chemicals, or perms) over 20 years. I do use a rinse ( black Bigen) to cover gray.
My question to you. Do you know if I can continue to put a rinse or dye to cover gray hair when I get install or do they advise against it.
Not worried bout strands of gray here n there. But I sure would hate to have a white scrap/roots with rest of hair being black.
Thank you for returning to channel.

I am unsure, but it should be ok. Perhaps not right away however. A rinse is far gentler than dye. You might also want to do a loc test to see how your hair reacts. Sometimes chemicals can cause the loc to unravel, especially at the ends.

Hi! No, but you can certainly pause and take notes. That might help. Enjoy your journey.

Hey! Yes always separate any stray hairs and be sure that your grid is not tangled. You might wanna wash first and then go. Also use jojoba oil lightly on scalp. It helps to detangle. Be sure tour loctician is slow and gentle and deosnt have to snap tangled hair. I know how u feel.

Hi Tunisia, regarding the NUMBER of locs on a head, do u feel that it will be an issue installing SL on a child? I mean, their head is gonna grow as they do, so what happens to the total number of locs? Will it look....off? Will they need to somehow create more, or split locs? I'm guessing my daughter will have around 400-450, based on her head size and hair density. But that would be a small number for an adult. Know what I mean?

I'm not sure, but I would say likely not. If they are done small, any new hair can be locked. As my hair expands bear the hairline, I just add new locks.

Great information however, she rub and wiped her nose throughout the entire video then kept touching her hair. Her locks look great and I am sure she does a good job but she would not be doing my hair. She was aware of it an even apologized but kept doing it. By the end of the video I was sick to my stomach. I understand allergies we all have them but when you are one to do videos that not a good habit to have. Take medicine and nose spray 30 minutes before doing video to contain that. It definitely isn't a good look through out the video. It makes me wonder does she do that the entire time she's doing hair? Work on that sister....

Tracey Jones, Tunisia is a real person and she is genuine she is not putting on a show, she is sharing herself and her gifts with us. No need to criticize a human natural behavior.

Lol...ya'll put your videos out here then get upset with comments not in your favor. It's my opinion. Wiping your nose and putting your hands in your hair is disgusting. For me, It took away from the info you were giving. Learn to take constructive criticism and correct it. That's all I'm saying. We so quick to be offended. Responding the typical way that's expected of us. Lmao...and my a$$ is not a subscriber. I'm not on your channel. It popped up while looking for someone else...
