Played at my grandmother's funeral as we carried her casket to where she would be cremated. There were dark clouds and it was raining throughout the eulogy. But when we started to walk outside and Vera Lynn started singing, the weather turned around almost instantly.
In that miraculous moment, the blue skies literally drove the dark clouds far away at the moment Vera Lynn sang about it.
You would not believe how monumental that experience (and therefore this song) has been in processing the grief of loss for the one that raised me as one of her own.
We played this at my grandmas funeral,it’s giving me a different feeling then it would for others

In 1939 Vera lynn sang this song and it inspired soldiers to meet their fate fighting for their country. It inspired them to go into battle, knowing that they might not make it back, but that if they did not, they would have sacrificed themselves for their country. RIP to all those soldiers and RIP to Vera lynn. I suppose now they really have met again on some sunny day in the eternal paradise.
