  • My new Yardmax 35 ton log splitter. I assemble and split some logs.
I bought it in the crate for easier transport, just put in on the flatbed trailer.
Went to together in about a hour and ready to roll.

Dad built a 3-point splitter which we used on the back of one of our tractors. Some of the elm we used to split took a lot oof the power the tractor's hydraulics could put out. We only operated it horizontal, so he was able to put a nice tall wedge on the end, which helped it split some of the biggest logs better than the shorter wedge we had on the first one he built. I wish I could still manhandle a log up on one of those like I used to be able to do.

Gota love that it has a vertical position as well :-),,,, Real back saver! Sure beats my hand shop conversion using a Milwaukee concrete coring unit into a splitter (@@)! hehe! Super buy too! I was blessed to fine a cord this season that was already split to perfect size for my fire place. Best to you, family & friends for Thanksgiving,,,GO Dallas Cowboys,,,That's where my butt will be parked watching on TV after dinner! Bear. Looks like heavy snow hitting your are on Turkey Day?

Having a very similar machine I've found that extending the ram makes tilting much easier. Build a platform around the foot so that when vertical the top of the platform is level with the foot, no lifting wood in place to position it, just slide it. Find a block of the right height for you to sit on while operating in vertical mode.

Nice video. I just assembled my 32-ton unit yesterday (should have thought of using my tractor like you did). I never had a log splitter before and have a question: I noticed the unit does vibrate a lot and was wondering if that is normal? I saw a couple of cap nuts on the engine throttle assembly which were spinning but seemed secure. Not sure if you noticed this or not.

Looks like a beauty Randy. Your wife will be able to split enough wood to heat the house and the shop and the greenhouse too. Thanks for the video.

Nice toy, nice video. US made instruction?
Once bought a 5 ton splitter for a lady friend. It could be stored in a cloakroom..... It did a good jobb splitting a number of large birches.

All in all a very nice splitter. Mine is tiny in comparison. Am I the only one who thinks log splitters are upside down? If the splitter was on the ground, then you could roll the rounds onto the splitter and not have to lift them or tip them upright to split. With proper valving you could use the hydraulics to make the wheels retract and extend for towing mobility.

If I may, good sir. Be careful with the balance point on those style of log splitters when you go to stand them up if they are not attached solidly at the hitch to anything. I once had one of these slam closed, by the hitch end lifting up, while I had it right at the tipping point and unfortunately for my thumb it was in the way of closing completely. It split my thumb open from tip to first knuckle, I am still glad I had my leather gloves on or I may have lost it completely. I had used that brace on the bottom that holds the top centered on the rail for my holding position. I am still gun shy of those things to this day, so I just tell anyone in fair warning.
Thanks for the videos, Randy. Hope you and yours are doing well.

I have a Wallenstein splitter I bought twenty years ago and it looks very similar to yours Randy. It works great. I drilled a hole at the back of a little garden trailer and have a ball so I tow it and put the split wood in. Getting cold here now. 🪓⚒🔧

I like this splitter it can split the hardest knots. Raining here today and cool out. Thanks Randy for stopping in.
