  • Tag along as we journey through Suez Canal into Mediterranean Sea.
The ship is on a 77 days voyage from Asia to East Coast United States in which we've taken the Suez Canal route. By using Suez Canal instead of around cape of Africa, this will save more than 5000 miles of fuel and time.

My Great Grandfather is laying dead at the bottom of that somewhere. He was working on a British Merchant ship way back in the 50s and another ship crashed into them. His cabin was apparently at the point of impact and he'd just got off duty and gone for a rest.
Only 2 British died, the rest thankfully made it to safety.

Nice video. I would have loved to have heard the radio traffic involved in getting 16 ships organized and underway as well as some of the bridge audio of the pilot giving maneuvering instructions in some of the trickier sections. Thanks again.

I hope one day I will travel in the suez canal like you jeff, thanks for an amazing video like always. When you said "south bound ship on the opposite lane", was the ship in the other lane a MAERSK Triple-E class?

Yeah the suez canal is a marvel, fun fact, did you know the engineers of the suez canal didnt ever take the curve of the earth into account when cutting it? Have you seen it from the sky? It's a flat body of water for 120 miles.

Great video. There is no better time to learn about the Suez Canal than now. I have a few questions if you can answer.
    1. At 1:46, you picked up the Suez pilot. Is that mean the ship would be piloted by a local pilot for this part of the journey?
    2. When you were at the 23-Jul portion of the canal, it had 1 lane and southbound ship. Is that mean it was 1 lane traffic thru this part of the canal?
