- If you're looking for a pair of short leather motorcycle gloves for summer riding, I've pulled together three of my favourites for you to have a look at. They vary in price, style and amount of armour, but are all excellent to ride in when the mercury starts rising. So whatever type of bike you ride, or whatever style you adopt, one of these three pairs might just be the new summer gloves you've been looking for.
As I mention in the video, here are some links to the gloves with the best deals I can find;
Goldtop Bobber Deerskin - tinyurl.com/GoldtopDeer
Holy Freedom Bullitt - tinyurl.com/HolyFreedomBullitt
Knox Orsa MkII - tinyurl.com/KnoxORSAmk2 (less than £100!)
Also in the video, I'm wearing the new Resurgence AAA-rated Cargo Pants - tinyurl.com/RGCargoPants - which I'll be posting a full review of soon...

Just watched this again. Last minute homework.
I have a medium sized hand but my fingers are just a little shorter than 'normal glove' size and gloves have always been a hit and miss nightmare for me until...... I found Gold Top gloves. They are a perfect fit, feel is soft and supple once broken in, they look great, smell like quality as well as look and feel. I have 3 pairs now, brown, black, and winter, all are the best I've ever owned. Great value.. And they're British! Great straight forward vid as per👍
My Uncle Terry had driving gloves that were like that in his Hillman Hunter
got the Holy Freedom really nice gloves. very happy with it!
Great review. Best motorcycle channel on UA-cam
Another excellent comparison review. Thanks, Tony.
Thanks Keith
The Knox Orsa II are my new summer glove, very pleased with them .
I really like them, I might try out the Urbane Pro Gloves too
Also have the Holy Freedom ones. They are incredibly comfy.
With respect to armour I'm in two minds, I had a bad accident 15 years ago and didn't come out of it too well, one thing that came out of it apart from lots of injuries was that nearly exclusively all of my broken bones occurred at the edges of armour not above or below but literally exactly where the armour finished. The only thing I conclude from this was it was the armour that caused the breaks in my case, however it I hadn't have had it would the breaks have been elsewhere. I use ghost armour now as the edges are softer which I think is the best of both worlds. Knuckle armour can only be of anyone if you roll and you arms flap out hitting the deck...
Interesting points you make TwinWheels. Do you know if D3O ghost armour is as effective as the standard D3O ? It’s certainly thinner and lighter and more comfortable. Also may I ask what way do you wear the ghost armour? I have seen a review by Chris at Motolegends on UA-cam and he says the pieces should be worn the black material side away from the body. That seems a little strange to me. I did email d3O this question but they never replied.
@@jjnewman65 Hi mate I imagine it's not as effective in a direct impact as the level 2 stuff and I don't really find it any more comfortable, just less restrictive than the normal D30 if I'm honest. My two main reasons for using it are 1. I think I've less chance of having the same sort of breaks if I come off and 2. It's a lot less obvious through your gear, not an issue on a pair of leathers but if you're walking round in bike jeans all day it does make a difference. I wear it as motolegends say, black smooth side out so the little diamond shapes don't imprint onto your jacket etc. I will say It does mould to your body better due to it's nature which is important for me as some of my bones stick out a bit now and normal armour can rub and be uncomfortable for me. One more thing is have a look at the Knox armour can't remember the name but its yellow, that's very soft and malleable as well.
Ghost armour is always going to be a bit of a compromise in terms of protection, but you have to weigh it off against comfort. Its of course better than nothing. Wearing the armour with the black side out is interesting. I can see how it could stop marking on leather jackets, but doesn't it restrict the flexibility a little? Putting a cover on the outside effectively reduces the amount the individal triangles can flex.
Knox Microlock armour is excellent, and i've found it stays more flexible in colder weather. I replaced the back armour in a Klim suit with it and although a fraction thicker, its much more comfortable.
@@mancavemoto Yeah fitting the ghost armour like that seems completely counterintuitive to me but I went by what motolegends said, I'm still not convinced it's the right way round! :) D3O have nothing on their site to clarify the matter either. On a jacket I don't think there'd be any read through at all but on jeans I can see it. I use the ghost stuff on pretty much all my gear because it's pretty much unnoticeable, and I'm skinny as a rake, any bulky armour on my casual looking gear stands out like a sore thumb.
I’ve had the KLIM induction gloves for over 2yrs and are a great all yr round glove
Great review, they all look good
Thanks
nice overview , for me the third pair would be nice to have, cheers V!
Good choice!
Tony good review as always ; any chance of an up date on gold top leather
Jackets 👍, Mark .🍺🇬🇧👍🏻
Hi Tony. I hope you are well. Great review with excellent detailing. I love all of these. The second pair are especially lairy. I have four pairs of gloves so not a buyer however I did buy the Halvarsson Advance on the back of your review which performed very well earlier this year as a winter glove 👍
Thanks Jamie, indeed a bit to lairy for me. I love my Advance gloves, but they are finally starting to give up on me.
Aye.... Goldtop gear has always been top quality materials and workmanship
You just can't fault them
The extra 30 notes for the knox gloves so worth it!...safety, styling, comfort... perfect!
Goldtop be nicer with colour reversed i think, that tan is lovely! But those Holy Freedom gloves are hideous ( sorry T ) they look like a pair of oven mitts in that colour 🙈🙈🙈...great review(s) as usual mate👍☘️
Not enough protection on the Goldtop glove, perhaps. Great price, though. Good airflow spoiled a bit by the liner in the rather loud Holy Freedom pair. Holy Freedom: Jesus! I'd take the Knox gloves. Properly protective. I particularly like the Boa system. Well worth 130 quid.
Very good review.
Yep the Goldtop are just pure abrasion resistance. The new Knox Urbane Pro gloves look very good too.
Do the holy freedom run true to size?
Yes pretty much, of the three they were the tighest fit out of the box
Holy Freedom - When golf styling meets motorbike gloves....
Ha, yeah!
The first pair you tried on look far to big ,for summer gloves they have got to be fitted
Why do they need to be tight fitting for summer gloves? They fit me exactly the same as the Knox gloves
You can put any trousers on but if they hang off your arse it don’t look right
