Ethiopian is not a race, if anything it is a nationality. For example, Caucasian and South/East Asian (I.e. Mongoloid) are both races. Technically, she's not even really Ethiopian, since she wasn't born in Ethiopia.
She mentioned being Ethiopian so... Look, thing is, if she's raised by Ethiopian parents, then she's influence by Ethiopian culture at home, so a part of her will feel Ethiopian. With that said, she's obviously Canadian too. I'm myself born in Ethiopia but raised almost my entire life in Sweden. I feel both. The "immigrant" experience is hard to explain.... all in all, I just feel blessed being able to identify with 2 different cultures while most people can only related to one.
Ruth you are so kind! After watching this vid I felt bad for others I donated all of my money and old toys to peps on the street soup places food banks and animal shlters. Ruth B has quickly become my favorite artist. Its so hard to find someone with such a genuine voice, with genuine lyrics and feeling/emotion behind SUCH a beautiful voice. Hearing this song reminds me so much of my childhood from back in the good old days where I saw other kids actually going outside and playing games like hide-and-seek. Not like the present now where mostly all kids around the universe are stuck inside and on their cell phones 24/7. I miss being younger and even though I am 18 years old, I just miss being a young and adventurous little girl who used to go outside all the time and soak in all the sun that shined upon my very skin. But we all have to accept the fact that we are no longer children anymore and let change come into our lives by growing up to become mature, wise adults.
