This month I turn 20 yo. But do to a genetic mutation my life expectancy is about 32. I was told since I was a little boy that I was to live every day of my life in pain, I was told to expext nothing but a downward spiral until I pass... I still remember seeing my mother drown in the feeling of helplessness. I've been in 19 surgeries, four of witch were life threatening. Throughout it all the only thing thats ever bin able to keep my soul intact is music like this. Music is more powerful then any amount of morphine I could get. My worst enemy was... and is life. but I never once wished or prayed for my life to be different or to get cured nor will I ever. because I know that all of the ashes lifes tried to barry me in has some meaning and i understand that the fire ive bin put through has turned me into gold! my only wish b4 i pass is to do my part to make the world a little better no matter how insignificant. thumbs up so artist like ruth b see just how much of an impact they have in the world!
My little brother has a genetic mutation called cystic fibrosis, and so his life span is pretty short at 30, and many living with his disease don't even make it that long. It hurts, because he looks so healthy, but he has so many lung troubles and pancreatic issues. But he looks so, so perfectly healthy, and it's a painful reminder to know that he isn't healthy at all. And this is a song that makes me think about him, and now, about you.

Ruth, this song is one of the only songs in this world that has made me cry multiple times. I was bullied for several years, not only by my peers but by grown adults. I was constantly told I wasn't good enough, that I would never be able to do certain things, that I was weak and worthless. Listening to this song and hearing the words "all the things you said I couldn't do, guess what, yes I can" really hit home. This song means so much to me, you have such a gift with your voice and your words. I'm so glad that I've finally gotten out of the fire and I can happily say that I proved everyone wrong and that I am most definitely golden! I sat at my computer listening to this song multiple times before writing this comment because I wanted to make sure it expressed everything that I wanted to say.
Obviously I don't know you, but the amount of passion and love you seem to have for singing, honestly just consumes me. Listening to you sing, especially this song (which I just discovered today), makes me feel like I can DO anything, BE anyone and if I fail it's going to be OK. In a kinda weird way, you give me HOPE... and I truly do not know how to describe what I am feeling, but I want to cry and laugh simultaneously when I listen to your songs. I only hope to aspire to be as passionate about something as you are about singing.
I wish you nothing but the absolute best of luck with your future endeavours, you will do great things that is for sure. But I feel like even if you didn't "hit the big time" you would be fine, because for you, making genuinely good music and bringing more joy to people is enough.

Today my tears are flowing like my blood was a year ago. I was bullied and everyone crowned me suicidal and goth. Everyone laughed at me. Even my own sister. I'd get beat by my relatives and I'd get bruised from my hard work as a dancer, photographer, and just artist overall. I'd punch my wall until my knuckles bled waterfalls. Then my tears would come like Niagra. I went from dust to gold. I taught myself to play the piano and sing, and everyone says "We knew it all along!" And they claim to have been my friends throughout the years. Nope. None of that was true, and it never will be. I was broken. And I repaired myself. Now I'm gold and everyone's trying to claim me. I guess it shows how hard a song can hit home.
