I feel like this video is about a little girl who's alone in the world, and the gruffalo is her imaginary friend kind of. She's always with him because he doesn't judge her and they're best friends, she's the only friend he has and he's the only friend she has, so they feel like they understand each other. So she never leaves his side no matter how old she gets because he's always there for her when no one else is, she will stay with him until death (hence the song). That's how I interpreted it, there's many interpretations, I just wanted to express how I saw it :) Made me cry tho.

We were both 13 at that time. Now we are 18 we grew up together because we had known each other since of age 4 and we met at a play park.
