    The thing that really gets me about his playing is that not only is he a master of almost every style but he everything he plays is very melodic and pleasing to the ear.
    Really a nice guy, too.

    Dear Mr Jorgensen.
    You make it look so easy. And you dont act like a guitar hero , No ego . 3 chords and the truth . I´ve just started learning Tele ,country style.
    yourself,Danny Gatton,Johnny Hiland are the greatest guys to learn from.
    Thanks so much.

    John Jorgensen's dynamite solo on "Hello Trouble" - done when he was a member of the Desert Rose Band - will live on as long as there are people who appreciate hot Telecaster playing. And that's just one of the dozens and dozens of amazing performances he has waxed over the years.

    I couldn't agree more with what Rowlandph said about John Jorgenson. I was treated to seeing him perform at a small venue near the LA/Ventura county line a few days ago. His playing (And that of the Carl Verheyen band.) was other-worldly, yet he is surely a very down-to-earth guy who loves his Fenders. That said, he did play his old white 3HB Gibson SG/LP as well. He tickled and squeezed every grain of tone out of it, evoking nonstop smiles from the cheering, appreciative audience. One of the best out there, for sure.

    Great lesson - love that old Tele twang! I'm not a country music fan, per se, but I do enjoy the finger picking stuff, and am starting to work a bit more of it into my own playing - which is what brought me here. It was a bit surreal watching this video, given that my first name is actually John. I will need to search out more vids from my namesake.

    yeah I remember passing up several of those paisleys in the 70s when they were at about $400 or $500....I remember a 68 mahogany George Harrison at $800 or $900 that was dear ?..its not $150 ...but still ....looking back....I should have grabbed it...they say hindsight is 20/20 ..... Jorgenson plays a resissue and sounds great...so musical....and importantly.... having fun ...and loving it...thanks for sharing

    What guitar is this John is playing? It appears to be the Fender LTD ED 52 Copper Tele?

    • @braddietzmusic2429
      @braddietzmusic2429 8 років тому +1

      +Lester Gilbert Looks very much to be the 52 Reissue Telecaster in Copper, but of course with the original bass circuit replaced with the (more) modern circuit as we know it today. I believe both circuits were provided with this guitar, new, but the bass circuit was the installed electronics it was shipped with. If... I remember correctly.

    I was at the festival in Italy he mentions. It was Soave 2003 and the owner of the guitar- Manfred if I remember correctly- is a HUGE fan of Johns so it was a singature model tele.....he also brought his strat and the acoustics so John didn't need to travel with a guitar. the tele got pranged off the roof of the tent and was indeed undamaged.

    That is THE SOUND!!!

  • @karamchandgautama
    @karamchandgautama 11 років тому

    it's a different mix from when he's playing guitar compared to when he's speaking. so when he stops playing he immediately starts talking; speech mix activated and the reverb of that mix (and probably the rest of the room) kicks in. compare the sound of when he's just playing to when he's talking while playing (when he's talking about ringing scales (which is a seriously cool thing, Bill Frisell does it too)) and you should hear the difference. so, basically a glitch, but yeah, pretty cool.

    Damn man I wish I would of got that color when I got my 52 reissue in 1999. if i knew that everyone and their brother would have a butterscotch blonde these days i would of got copper. still the greatest guitar ever made. this girl dropped it on the cement at an outdoor show and it was 100% in tune still and only a slight edge mark.

    If you get a chance, listen to a song that he played on when he was in the Desert Rose Band. It is a remake of Buck Owens "Hello Trouble". When I first heard that, I was on fire to play a telecaster from that point on. I never knew before that, that people could play a tele in country like that. Amazing.

    I've always love the Telecaster for it's apprearance over the Stratocasters. However, I love the versitility of the Strats 3 pickup config whether its "sss" or "hss" and the fact it has a tremelo. I've always prefered the Tele's sleek headstock over the Strats more bulky one. If someone from Fender is reading, can you please make An American deluxe Tele with the Am Deluxe Strats 3 noiseless pickups and a tremelo w/ the LSR roller nut? Also make sure you do NOT use a Strats neck.Thats been done.

    First guitar was a Gibson SG Les Paul?

    • @NealB123
      @NealB123 6 років тому

      The Les Paul was a total dude when it was first introduced in the 1950's and Gibson ceased production after about 5 years. They replaced it with the SG which was originally called the SG Les Paul guitar. The original Les Paul design got a second chance at life in the early 60's when a bunch of teen boys in the UK (Clapton, Page, Beck, Townsend, Richards, etc) discovered that an old 50's model Les Paul plugged into a tube amp cranked up loud enough to go into distortion had possibilities.
