I know I'm quite off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new movies online?
It seems so simple when you know how. I thought this would cost a fortune and require specialist tradesmen!
Thanks for showing us how!
Great tutorial, and a great finish to a tricky cornice, explained clear and easy to follow, with no noisy background music. Thank you so much. I'm going to give it a try.
Thanks for the great comments. Glad you found my video useful and let me know how you get on with your coving.

Good job. I've done a few of these and if you take your time it turns out well. I was quoted £250 for someone to cut out the old bit of coving and to make a replacement, when all it needed was a repair like this.
Twotanks to get tradesmen in can be very expensive that's why I make these videos and share my knowledge so others can save money the way I did. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Good job pal. I find a old bank card works well to fill sometimes good flex to it. What a job tho.
steve onpoint that's a great tip, I have used my current bank card before now because I couldn't find anything else 🙈 thanks for watching 👍🏼
Looked great in the end up especially with the addition of the new trim.

Really helpful video! Thanks
great job. wish i'd gone for plaster over polystyrene coving. paiting over the caulk I used to fill the gaps has left it cracked and messy looking.
"all these teeools I use for plastering, I've got the speed skim, the marshaltown, the rafina black". Lol thumbs up if you know what I'm on about

That was really good to watch. I never knew you could get it so precise with that trowls (the rounded tips is so obvious but I've never thought to use them for filling!) Very interesting to watch you watering down as you moulded the shape so precisely. How much sanding was required once it had dried? Beautiful finish.
I try to fill as close as I can to minimise sanding. Hate all the dust.

Loved your video and smart job. How about filling a totally missing segment where the chunk was cut out for built in wardrobe, for example. Thanks a million!

Great video! What do you recommend to fill gaps from window and architrave surrounding it?
YGJ Artworx thank you. If the gaps are only small you could use decorators caulk. Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼

Hi, great and very impressed. I may have missed this bit, but what adhesive do you use - recommend? Many thanks, cheers
Hi, quick question. I was wondering if the contour gauges can be used to sculpt larger areas of missing ornate coving. If so a demo would be brilliant.
You can make a pull from thin metal cut to the contour and build it up. Some screws in the wall will give it some support 👍🏼
Hi mate great job I know it’s been a while since this was posted but do you remember the place you got the wooden moulding from? Cheers
Thanks for your comment. I actually made these mouldings myself. I'm sure there will be a website that sells similar.

Great job mate, can i use this technique if the coving has been chased for electrical purposes ?
vanderpant2116 thanks for your comment. If you can get capping over the cables first that would be better but yes you can do this for electrical chases. Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
I need to repair some coving does it crack after a while
roy ratcliff there's no cracks in any of the repairs I have done. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
My 2 budgie birds been eating our plaster coving , but its more then this damage, any idea to fix please !!!
As an old Plasterer tradie, I get very frustrated ( no, I also don't always agree with their methods) at the number of demonstrators who can't be bothered to clean their tools. Tradesmen I learned from would have kicked my bum if my tools looked like that.
Can you use bonding plaster or cement?
What paint did you use for the coving pal...
White
could you not have let it set and sanded after ?
Yes I could have but that creates a lot of dust.

The final coving does not look like the one you repaired! It has more layers
Well spotted. The coving was too plain for my liking so I added timber mouldings to the top and bottom of the coving to make it look more ornate.
I assure you that it is the same coving.

If that's plaster cornice you don't need to use dab/plasterboard adhesive you need plaster of paris. This is a bodge
@JJ Willywinkle you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe you you that rough work in America, we have coving/cornice older than your whole country In Europe I think I will stick with the way we have been doing it for 300+ years. Considering they are made out of plaster of Paris I think that is the right material to repair it
@JJ Willywinkle go onto plaster ceiling roses ytube channel and see there plaster coving install video for the correct way to do it mate 👍🏻 used to make, fit and repair genuine plaster coving for years and can tell you that that's how the pros fo it professionals do it.
