I like it when you come across a wall & ceiling which isn't flat chin up for the beginners that they don't show you as you will need to plaster the dips in the wall ceilings area to get flush fitting.

hi Tommy, i have tricky wall where i wont to put cowing. The person who is doing the coving job said that there isn't on sale coving with required angle and left some place without coving and looking terrible. i wonder if you could find solution for?

Really helpful Tommy and I'm sure I'll be doing this tomorrow! BUT, I need to know how to do the external corner as well please? Or, is it the same procedure? Also, having purchased the 90mm mitre tool, (I'd accidentally purchased plaster coving but took back to exchange for 90mm Polystyrene, however Wicks do not sell 90mm Polystyrene coving, so ended up having to get 100mm. Can I still use the tool?

i need to do one in a room 3.8 long - i can get 4.2m in one piece coving and cut down but would you do using 3m lengths anyway? it needs two people to do over 3m in one piece to lift it into place

Would you always put coving up before painting walls?

tommy where can i buy the mitre tool you use

DJMystery2001, best to decorate after, as normally you paint your ceiling down, finishing off with the skirts.
otherwise you paint first, put the coving up, and then you need to touch up etc

is the cove made like sheet rock? I have never seen it before. I'm on the east cost over the US. all are crown is wood. it's very interesting.

In commonweath countries sheetrock coving is common. Wood is also available. But sheetrock coving is very forgiving.

I find the opposite. As a carpenter I find wood coving and cornice easy to put with lovely tight mitres, gypsum based I always find more difficult to work with for some reason!

You don't have to wipe adhesive in the gap, you can caulk it 👍🏻
