+Ramachandran Chidambaram I have seen M.Sudha Raghunatham as well as Ms Kodampally looking down to the left at some sort of device to check "something' Can you tell me what that is?
I like the Pattinam Subramani Iyer kriti- Mariveredikkevaraiyya Rama" [Ragam: Shanmugapriya/Chamaram so much n upon listening this rendition by the upcoming star singer of our Kerala - Kodampally Sreeranjini, I thought it right to share it in my FB Timeline.. "marivere dikkevarayya rama'...in Shanmukhapriya, called as Chamaram in Muthuswami Dikshitar school of Carnatic music, a class kriti that is sung by high-profile vocalists in the cutcheri circuit. Of course Shanmugapriya ragam was borrowed into Hindustani music from Carnatic music. It is the 2nd ragam in the 10th chakra Disi.. thus the mnemonic name is Disi-Sri. The mnemonic phrase is sa ri gi mi pa dha ni. it is a sampoorna rāgam with all seven notes in both ascending and descending scales and is the prati madhyamam equivalent of Natabhairavi, which is the 20th melakarta scale. Excellent exhaustive Ragaalapaa..wonderful exposition of the ragam..Shanmugapriya! The vocalist did display skills at high octave incorporating wonderful gamakas on maneuvering variations to ornament their presentation right from Anupallavi with modulation of brigas at work proliferated sweet eloquence of Shanmugapriya/Chaamaram!!! She presented an excellent niraval @ sannutaanga shree venkatesha neevu' and kalpanaswarom! Good recital!!! Class honeyed tone.!!!....and the brief but extempore swarakalpana with the phrases of the ragam.....well weaved swaroms ended with the thala cycle with the support from the class pakkavadhyam team, She is a very promising vocalist..pride of Kerala!!!.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Shanmukhapriya is a raga which invokes a great amount of devotion...Most of the songs on lord Shanmugha/ Muruga are composed in this unique raga... I feel it would be more appealing and soothing had it been sung with less “exercise” on niraval ... this types of hypes in fluctuating the raga part is OK for a violinist, but as a vocalist , he/she need to give more importance to bhakti ...so taking plane ups and down, I mean by adopting a smooth rendering raga style , touching all the corners of Bhakti, keeping lord Muruga at heart will definitely vibrate the beacon of reality within the heart of every listener.... But of course it was a good attempt.. 👏👏👏
This is pure South Indian Classical singing style. It is known as 'Carnatic Music'. There are mainly 72 mela kartha Ragas in Carnatic Music. Here you are listening to Raga 'Shanmukhapriya'...
Undescribable. High standard music. Birgas, raghabhavam amezing the for the vocalist.Blessings to the musician and well played supporters./Vijayaraghavan. 80 years.
