Awesome footage guys, looked like a epic trip! ..... ok so one of my best fishing experiences when I was on trip with 8x mates to great barrier island in 2021. Started with a 9 hr roadie up to Coromandel, boarded our boat in Kenedy bay and steamed over to Great barrier. Spent the first 2 days filling the fish bin , enjoying good times and laughs with the boys. On day 3 we decided to jump in for a dive for crays, jumped straight off the boat at the spot we had anchored for the night. We got 20m from the boat and next minute the boys were yahooing and cheering, I swim over to find they had come across a huge mob of packhorse crays, not sure what they were doing but it was like a packhorse orgy!! They were everywhere, all over the rocks, in between the weed, out in the open and in every crack and hole. There were hundreds of them! So many that we made a rule that if you could hold it with one hand then it’s too small so put it back. We spent the next hour plucking a few big bucks. Such a amazing experience that we will probably never see again. That night we ate like kings, and washed it down with a crayfish head beer funnel each to celebrate (like a shoey but we used a packy head) 😂 🍻. Anyway that was one of my best memories. Looking forward to your next video, cheers
Wholly hecker that is unreal. Sounds like one hell of an epic weekend with your mates. Your bang on though, you probably will never see Crays like it again that’s what dreams are made of. I do like the sound of a crayfish head beer though, keen to see a pic of this haha
Garry Allen you have won the prize pack mate It’s only something we can all dream of seeing and something you will most likely only ever see once in a life time. If you can please message me on Instagram and we will arrange everything from there.
How good was that trip for you guys. Thats a dream trip with the lads! Thanks for sharing the journey to your successful weekend. My best fishing moment is not even me on the rod. Was watching my young boy pull up a very respectable snapper all on his own battling it and the giggles all the way to the surface. Then for him to come away with average snapper for the comp with it and the look on his face when he found out. Hopefully the start of an annual father son bonding weekend.
Mate that is a epic memory for sure. One of my favourite fishing memories isn’t of me catching a big fish but a weekend fishing on my boat with dad watching him catch all sorts of species for the first time while having the time of his life. That’s a memory that you will have for a lifetime with your son. Congratulations on the prize as well
The lads all picked what prizes they wanted to keep and we have decided as team that we will do a give away. All you have to do is subscribe to my channel and comment below your greatest fishing experience with your mates and we will pick the winner from there.
Great footage & great catching. Some mates & I do an annual trip down to D'Urville each year - it's one of those times you put in your calendar & count down the number of days til you go. And then when it's done... you put the next year's date in & start dreaming of what the next trip will be like! Had many good fishing moments with mates - probably one of the best was fishing the annual Moki 1000 surf casting competition & all of us caught decent-sized moki. I was lucky enough to catch one on my birthday & weigh in the heaviest overall moki in the competition. It's great when a carefully planned trip comes together! Looking forward to following your awesome fishing footage!
What a epic day ,dream day with top blokes ..Mine doesn't come close but 5 good snaps around the 14lb mark. but just epic fun with the boys nothing like getting on the water catching fish and taking the piss out of each other..Cant wait for the next vid
Was an unreal weekend where the plan came together. Mate any snapper over 10 pound in my book is a good fish. Great fun to catch and excellent eating. 5 over 14 is one heck of a good day. I believe it’s not always about catching big fish it’s more about spending time with your mates sharing a few good yarns with the sun on your back. Cheers mate the next one is definitely something a little different haha
How good what a win I have had a fair few great fishing days but the best recent one was 2 weeks ago fishing for panniers in the Waimea estuary and then thought I hooked a stingray but turned out to be a big kingfish
Awesome son!! My greatest fishing adventure so far was over Christmas when my sister and I both bagged our first kingfish on board the Good Rooster! It was a hoot of a time and definitely a special memory! Also broke the no kingfish curse on the old boys boat 🤣
How good was this to watch!!! We just came back from a weekend fishing trip in Gizzy where I caught my first ever kingfish!! The surprise of how heavy and how much the fight was almost pulled me off the boat!! Which of course had the rest of the guys in fits of laughter! They eventually got round to helping me and we pulled in a very good size Kingi! The laughs that night over a few beers and some smoked kingfish throats is what we all live for, and watching your video (minus the prizes haha) was the weekend we had as well!!!!! A few surprise puka’s for us too haha.
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like you had one heck of a trip with lads as well. Nothing better than been railed by a king either. The banter with the lads over a few brews is always the best part of the trip I believe.
My most memorable trip was with few mates and the boat owner hooked a huge catch with the hook straight through my eye brow😂 carried on fishing and delt with it when i got home 🤙
Epic video Jase! Don't feel like my stories can compete with some of the ones in here but we've had some out the gate scenes at you know where' the past 12 months. Loving getting people into their first king, increasing the release and all the yarns that come with it.
Mate that’s what fishing is all about, getting out on the big blue with the sun on your backs enjoying great yarns and banter with your friends and family. You have had one hell of a time out there man and looking forward to getting you out on Nauti Buoy
Awesome video bro. We did one charter around D’urville Island and got hooked on jigging for kings We’d love to win this prize to push the adventures of our 4.6m fryan me and the mrs have. We’ve gone 18nm out to see trawling in and hunting for pins
Epic weekend Jase! Hope all is well mate. My best fishing experience would be catching our fist bluenose last year out of Kaikoura and seeing a swordfish sunbathing in the sun! Absolutely insane fish to see crusing on the surface!
Cheers mate and yea all is well and hope the same for you. Wholly hecker, that is insane. I havnt yet got a bluenose or tried but it’s in the cards to head down in the next month or two though. See a sword on the surface is unreal, you see videos of them sunbathing but to see in person would be next level. That is the dream fish to catch.
Wicked content guys. One of my coolest days out started with an epic session on the snaps best being 8kg then the kings turned up beside the boat so while my mate was throwing out chum to keep them close i ripped one into the boat with the gaff. Ended up just over 14kg
Awesome trip. Funny enough some one of the best fishing trips I’ve ever done was around durvile island just a couple weeks ago. We started jigging in a spot I’d been recommended and managed to get a 10lb snapper on a 300gram jig. Then the barracudas decided to show up and broke all of our jigs off. With no kingys and no jigs left we decided to have a fish with bait and caught some awesome snapper and cod. An hour later a boat pulled up next to us and started jigging and on the first drop they got a double hookup. I was so gutted cause we had no more jigs left and the kingys were around. In the end I got fed up watching them catch kingys over 20kg so I ended up asking the guys if they’d lend us a jig and they were really nice and said they would. So we gave them 20$ cash and I got a jig for one last chance to hook up to a kingy. I dropped it down and straight away got smashed and pulled up a nice kingy to end the day off. And it was an awesome way to end a weeks trip to Ōkiwi Bay off. One to remember.
Mate that’s wicked. We are so lucky to have D’Urville on our back door step. What I love is how helpful everyone in the fishing community is especially those guys who gave you a jig that’s bloody epic.
Nice video lads. The acid wrap rods make it a lot easier and more stable to fish, even with wide reels like thatSL50SH, which normally rocks side to side under any pressure

Bloody good trip the Durville, my best catch with mates was a 32 pound rainbow trout out of the tekapo canals
Heck what a epic fish that is. That will be hard to beat
Awesome trip guys ,18 pounder snap at the grave yard ,still waiting for the magic 20 HONE
Cheers mate
That’s a bloody epic fish for the grove. Well done

Thats epic, what a wicked catch. Im guessing you were on light gear as well?
Awesome son!! My greatest fishing adventure so far was over Christmas when my sister and I both bagged our first kingfish on board the Good Rooster! It was a hoot of a time and definitely a special memory! Also broke the no kingfish curse on the old boys boat 🤣
Mate I was worried the Good Rooster was cursed but that is well and truly broken. What an epic trip for sure son

One of the best would be catching a 26lb trumpeter on pe2 gear 60km off Christchurch on my mates dinghy. Keep the content coming 🤙🏽
Mate that’s one epic fish. It’s definitely one on my species list I’d love to catch.
