LET THE BIG DOG EAT - Bluefin Tuna - Trip 4, Greymouth, New Zealand
A small weather window presented its self on the West Coast out from Greymouth for us to go and target another Southern Bluefin Tuna. On this adventure I had Sam Wild, Harry and Phil joining me as we tried to get Sam and Harry one each on the spear and Phil was targeting his very first Bluefin Tuna.

Anton was away working overseas which meant this weather window over in Greymouth was a chance to take the Stabicraft ( Wasted Seamen ) on another adventure. With a perfect window we set our sights on landing a Tuna on the lures during the day so we could then get Sam Wild in the water to try and spear one of these incredible fish and then at night target them on the rod again. @StabicraftNZ @M...

After a very successful day 1 landing 6 of the required 9 species attending the Good Buggers Fishing Competition on D'Urville Island, we had 2 more days to try and land a Groper, Kahawai and Trevally. It might sound easy but it was far from it. Been a measured based fishing comp we had until 4pm Saturday to submit the length of all our species to be in for a chance at some prizes. I would love ...

SOLO FISHING ADVENTURE - D'Urville Island

Brilliant trip enjoyed the video
Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed the video
What’s the weight of these fish? Wow! Monsters
@@ralphjackson8097 hey mate first couple were estimated around 120kg and last one estimated around 150kg
How are you guys pulling up to sleep at night? Or do you just take turns? Presume it’s too deep to anchor anywhere
@@fairtechnologies hey mate, we just put a sea anchor out and do like 2-3 hours shifts each
What's the cost if someone like to go out tuna with you guys
@@SayAgain1 hey mate, we don’t usually invite people we don’t know fishing especially on these sort of missions. To give you a rough idea though a trio like this usually costs around $1300 nz. That includes boat fuel, diesel for the Ute, food, engine service etc. We split this cost between everyone on board. Do keep an eye out though as we will be doing a give away for a day out fishing with us
@@reeladventureswithjase751 ok mate i don't mind pitching in for the fuel as well I'm just interested in going tuna fishing for once Don't mind me asking do you sell the tuna you catches
Done big man
Slaying it as always Jase!
Woo hooo hooo hooo. Yes boi. Yeah boi. Go the boi's!
I’ve felt the power of a big YFT on spinning tackle. I can only imagine the bruising you’d get from a standup bluefin fight. Awesome stuff! Subbed
@@goodguysfishing2711 mate that would be awesome, definitely a goal of mine to do as well. Yea this fish put up a bloody good fight.
Let the big dog eat brutha

Another epic fish mate! Well done! Great work on that bar crossing, man that's always stressfull aye..
@@FrenchAdrift thanks mate, not to bad for Phils first Tuna. Yea sure is but you just got to watch and time the sets and be prepared that you might have to turn around and put the boat on the trailer
Well done on another SBT bro! Also, that bar crossing... nicely done! Don't show the Mrs haha
@@spffishty8510 thanks mate, not a bad way to finish the season off.
Hey Jase Lovin the vids I am moving up that way soon those moorings you use for overnighters are they for the public to use free or do you have to book them ? sorry hope this is not a silly question LOL
@@ShaneRea-o6s hey mate, how epic you will love it up here. There are moorings you can use if you join up with either the waikawa or pelorus boating club.
@reeladventureswithjase751 cheers man I'm in waimate south of Timaru moving once house is sold can't wait
Sick of hearing a horn every 10 seconds. How many extra hours of editing does it take to fix that.
@@johankrukerink6767 the quiet horn noise is put in there to hide the language. Is there an alternative noise you would prefer?
@reeladventureswithjase751 instead of wasting all that time trying to cover up the bad language, just thought it might save you some time if you don't use it in the first place. But that's totally up to you, an impressive fish and the overwhelming emotion of catching one is full on. We have an awesome fishery here in NZ and it's good to see it being used, filmed and shared for all to experience. Well done
Wow. Language police. I hope this trauma doesn’t make you miss your church piano solo.
@@akamsrazor243 just an observation and a helpful suggestion. He can use whatever language he wants. And nope I didn't miss church this morning, thanks for your concern.
Nice one Jase o to have a go at this would be awesome , cheers , shaneno, nelson, 😊🍺👍
@@shanedavies9564 thanks mate and yes you should definitely give it a go if you can. It’s a pretty incredible fishery
How good is it when the whole day turns out to be amazing after you kinda lost a bit of faith! Sam is so right about that awesome feeling when you've put the mahi and it finally pays off! Well done guys, awesome episode with some great fish again! Bloody legends!
@@FrenchAdrift 100% mate the feeling is just that little bit better
Woo-hoo-hoooo. Yeth Boi
Hahaha all character building stuff Jase! Surely Fireball could have been used as a fuel substitute lol?
haha to bloody right mate, all in all it was a wicked trip and yeah there was talk of using fireball for petrol but the main problem was we had run out of that too.
Epic stuff Jase! Well done to you and the lads, interesting about the fuel. Atleast now you know!
@@nzcasualhunter thanks mate, yea definitely interesting but have found it since that this is a common problem on a lot of trailer boats. Glad I know now and have it all under control.
Well done to all you and your mates Jase ,rather scary when you run out of fuel in can imagine mate but you all got home safely ,awesome catch , cheers , shaneno, nelson,😊🍺👍
@@shanedavies9564 thanks mate, such a wicked time with the lads. I always take well over the required amount of fuel which I was so shocked when we ran out of gas. Really glad I found the issue and it’s all sorted now. Thanks for watching mate
Hi Jase, Good vid. What months of the year are the Tuna around in Kaikoura? Cheers

Hi Jason you view: on the ride v the Senators?
@@Topseller99 howdy mate. Each boat has there pros and cons. My advice would be to test ride them both yourself and in rough ish weather today as you cannot tell how good a boat is in flat water. As for the stabi, honestly in my opinion my previous 2100 was an awesome boat and a great ride too and I do believe my new 2250 is even better again. You will never get the ride of a pure mono hull but for a pontoon boat these are wicked. At rest the stabi is so dam stable it’s unbelievable and then in reverse is where it comes into its own as well. We just don’t really get any water over the back even when backing into a 1m chop. Honestly though best thing is to take them for a test ride to get your own opinion. As for price I do believe once you add everything in that a stabi comes with standard they are all pretty much the same price. The build quality of my stabi is second to none I believe. Now I’m probably a little bit biased as like most people we all think our boats are awesome but yea iv had both of my boats in some very very shit weather and have always felt safe. I’d highly recommend one. Feel free to message me on instagram if you have any more questions as well.
