Bob Duvall really makes this episode. He's the icing on the cake of one of the best in the series.I prefer when they go into the future, the more Sci~fi set story lines. This one's got it all. Thanks for Posting.
It was against hollywood law to change costumes in those days! Lost in space, wild wild west, land of the giants, the only one that makes sense is star trek because they wore uniforms that reflected their rank.
That's backwards. Young people today do not have series like this, or You Are There, or The Great Adventure, or Profiles in Courage, or even Captain Z-Ro to suggest to them that history is (as You Are There said) filled with those events that alter and illuminate our time, and encourage them to learn about the subject. They get Doctor Who, where anything historical is (mostly) an after-thought.
SPOILER WARNING.... I saw this on TV where they cut the teaser for the next episode, so it was just the actual story ending and straight to credits. So Robert Duval is in a massive bee hive and you can hear the buzzing of a swarm getting closer. Everyone else is transferred to safety but him. The General asks Anne is she can transfer him too. She looks at her controls and says "no". End credits. I mean...wow...it was like a Hitchcock or Twilight Zone ending... he's left to be stung to death by monster bees! And the irony of course is the way he embraced the future society where they lived in a hive like bees. Great story and a guest star who steals every scene he's in.
Olá, produtores. Que tal continuar com a série antiga do Túnel do tempo utilizando a Inteligência Artificial...Vai ser muito fácil, já que e com essa tecnologia os atores permanecerão jovens como nos anos 60...
Tony Newman eventually found himself trapped in the 24th century where he granted the rights to his likeness to a holographic artist who created the Vic Fontaine character, a popular lounge singer.
Their first stop, at the Grand Canyon in 1547, was likely to meet up with Coronado and do something with him. But apparently Coronado figured whatever it was he had to do by himself.
Vitina Marcus plays the Gold Girl in the future here. This same season, she was on "Lost in Space" as the Green Girl who was in love with pretty-pretty Doctor Smith!😁
28.40 Music is from 1959 Journey to the Centre of the Earth where Pat Boone is in the salt caves. Irwin Allen not only used stock footage but apparently others music too.
Irwin used a lot of Bernard Hermann's music in "Lost In Space" too. Notably "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Beneath the 12 mile Reef". Rumour has it that Hermann was not at all happy about it.
It was amazing music. It's noteworthy that is was made with all traditional instruments the lack of synthesisers and electronic technology really adds to it's character.
Robert Colbert should have been Batman instead of Adam West. The tv series should had a drama /Action feel. The Time Tunnel should have been on Tv longer than just 1year.
Robert Duval was also in an episode of the "Twilight Zone " Great actor he loves football (soccer ) and he said the best player he ever saw was Glasgow Celtics Jimmy Johnstone aka Jinky
I really enjoyed this episode as there was a lot happening which you'd expect when the heroes are chasing a villain through time. A William Hartnell episode of Dr Who called The Chase had the villains (the Daleks) chasing tje Doctor and his companions through time. The Time Tunnel episode also benefited by having Robert Duval as a guest star. Maybe because they tried to fit so much in the episode the ending seemed to be abrupt. I liked the theme of breaking free and discovering individuality.
The computers used were decommissioned SAGE computers used by the USAF. They were put to pasture in 1959. IA picked them up. At one time they were the real deal.
For half a century my kid brain has been creeped and and remembered that guy pathetically trying to hide from the arrival of the giant bees. My memory had better production values.
Yeah, I remember watching this in its original run when I was a kid, and that scene really creeped me out. And it's still in my memory after 50-odd years!
There's an extended version of this episode in a scene in which the giant bees came back, noticed something moving in the hive then proceeded to sting the shit out of Niman (Robert Duvall).....😆😆😆
I wonder why that guy at the very end didn't just jump out of the nest entrance. There must have been one for the bees to come back through. Even if he fell to his death it has to be better than being stung and bitten to death by giant bees 😀
Funny how Tony has fights, rolls around the ground etc and his green jumper never shows dirt or tears and he also has not a hair out of place. Bit of a joke that. Doug shows getting dirty etc.
Okay, what the hell happened to the two people from 1,000,000 A.D.? (I think we can safely assume that Neemon either became the world’s first apiarist, if he made friends with the bees, or was stung to death.)
I don't want to be critical or anything, as I love this programme, but when do they ever have a wash and shave, and how do they keep their clothes immaculate, besides that wish they kept tbe programme running, and how about a sequel, or another series
I read somewhere that the producers wanted to do a sequel. However, instead of using the Time Tunnel for time travel, the producers decided to use it as a different device. Thus, the Time Tunnel became Stargate.
One of the Ubiquitous Character Actors of his day. Turn on a rerun of just about any drama series of the time, and you'll find him eventually. Four episodes of Perry Mason alone (different characters). Was a military type in The Outer Limits episode 'Nightmare', one of my favorites. His bearing and features probably made him a frequent casting choice for such roles. Checking in Wikipedia, I find he was not himself a military man, but was related to Daniel Bissell, who received a badge of military merit from George Washington. Not too far from the 'Reign of Terror' episode in which Bissell played a dual role as General Kirk and his ancestor, General Querque, in the French Revolution! Now I wonder if Bissell's heritage suggested this plot element to the writers.
As Earth rotates and change poition with the galaxy rotation, is logical that ttime travelers arrive at different places on Earth each arrivaleven in space in some episodes, many time travel shows even books forget this!
@@marchess286The reboot pilot was also included in the DVD box set for this series. It was a good effort but, even with the minimal sets, I would still take this original series over the reboot. Of course, a very solid argument can be made that _'Quantum Leap'_ is a reboot substituting Beckett's quantum accelerator for the time tunnel.
Robert Duvall seen here as an Alien was also an Alien a few years earlier in a first season episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. He just had the right sort of head for playing silver skinned Aliens...:)
Robert Duval also was a human who changed into an alien in an episode of the Twilight Zone or One step Beyond. You can google his name and find out more I bet. He looked completely alien after his transformation, and yet he was helping the other aliens operate their equipment like he knew what he was doing all along. LOL!

That was the same ending I saw, with no teaser.
It’s a really brilliant episode just when I thought at this stage in the season that the Time Tunnel was running out of steam! It’s epic !

Johnny Williams=the film score God, JOHN WILLIAMS!
An early effort--and very well done, too.
The moment silver-faced aliens appear on an IA series, it’s about to be cancelled.
In 2018, they would all be running for the exits given the chance. John Williams score, Irwin Allen. This was fun.

I'm starting to wonder if Robert Duvall ever had a full head of hair!
He went on to be the Mouth Piece for a Powerful Crime Family To Don Corleone etc.
The first episode of the Twilight Zone was in color in 1959 and he was already losing his hair. I was a little boy in NYC in that time.
A pretty well-receded hairline in The Outer Limits: The Inheritors (1964) which is, by the way, well worth a watch.
