Since I can't pin multiple comments unfortunately I'm going to paste some of the comments on things I've missed. Find their comments to read their full thoughts. Thank you so much to everyone sharing thoughts and info! @sewoh100 & @Tuckwolf000 - Barrage Attacks: Focus on lots of smaller attacks to destabilize the opposing bey, blades like DranDagger or ViperTail, and the Rush bit can make this possible as well with it's different gear ratio. @baranteyfur4800 - Stationary Attacks: Utilizing an attack blade like Shark Edge with a stamina bit like Needle to further the recoil the opposing bey will experience.
Not sure I would personally classify viper as “barrage” the shape is more conducive to upper but far less aggro. I’ve been calling it a ratchet attacker since it seems to be most useful at targeting for bursts rather than kos or destabilizing.
Don't forget about Barrage Attack types! The new Dran Dagger would be considered a barrage attacker and is focused on multiple hits and, like lower attack types, is for destabilizing the other bey instead of smashing the bey outright. Even Dran Dagger's bit, Rush, sacrifices the raw smash power of X-dashes to allow for Dran to do multiple dashes without loosing as much stamina, as it has a smaller gear tooth ratio and a slightly smaller base.
Thank you so much for sharing that, I totally remember seeing the discussion around the rush bit as well and didn't know it was it's own style of attack. There's always more for me to learn, love how helpful the community is!
Honestly Dran Dagger is advertised as barrage attack, but it has FAR better smash attack than Dran Sword. Dran Sword is sadly pretty weak, and i was frustrated by its inability to KO, so i switched to Shark Edge which has a better shape for smash attack, but i wasn't satisfied, so i switched to Dran Dagger and i got to say Its the best out of the 3.
Id say Dran Dagger's barrage attack works better as an anti attack option. It's smooth flat blades allow it to hit pretty well without generating too much actual recoil, so it can act as a reflector against attackers like Shark who have super high recoil. If DD has an attack of 5 and recoil of 2 for example, and SE has an attack of 8 and a recoil of 8. These numbers are a bit arbitrary, but the important part is that Dran has low recoil and shark has high recoil. In essence it's almost a math problem: you add the opponent's attack stat to your recoil stat and that's how much you get knocked back during an attack clash. A mediocre amount of attack with low recoil is able to take out weaker stamina types while being more efficient in self damage.
I'm going to be honest. I finished binge watching all of your videos because of how well made they are. Seriously this is some great content that has that short, simple, and sweet aspect some people try to gain.
Bro made new meta of competitive Beyblade videos and dipped. Whenever I see someone else use the “understanding” trope in titles now for competitive Beyblade I think you.
Just wanted to say thanks for bringing your attitude and point of views into this hobby. Being interested in a hobby but still being focused on learning and maturity makes it all the more fun!
youre actually so spot on with the descriptions. when i first started with beyblade i thought the attack types was somewhat arbitrary but they 100% makes a lot of sense in practice.
its nice to have a channel that purely focuses on the technical aspect of beyblade rather than just showcasing battles and unboxings. I know a lot of this but its nice to hear someone teach others.
Side note, a lot of people forget about Spike Attack, which is what many people assume what Smash Attack is. Smash Attack is forcing a bey downwards, aka the opposite of upper attack. Spike is usually using things like spiky protrustions or blunt surfaces to hammer into a bey, producing tons of recoil. While upper attack relies on launching a bey upwards and causing destabilization, smash relies and forcing a bey to the floor and causing scraping and destabilization. Spike hopes for knockouts but is probably also the most risky.
Love these videos so much, always are excited for uploads. You do such a great job at describing everything in an easy manner, keep doing what you do bro!
A good way to think about upper attacks is an “uppercut”. The bey swing up from below to pop the opponent upward, causing destabilization. Blade shape is significantly more important than weight, unless the weight creep becomes so significant that it cancels out the strength of previous bey’s shape. This is what we saw in burst, and what most of the community don’t want to have happen. An attack type you missed (though not significant) is the Barrage Attack. This is when a blade like Vipertail or Drandagger has repeating small contact points. The idea is the blade will make multiple hits in a single motion, causing the opponent to lose spin or increasing the chance for a burst. In reality, this doesn’t happen haha. The beys immediately get thrown away from eachother after every point of contact, until the end of the match when they don’t have enough power to do any significant damage. In the final moments of a battle you will see blades have many small hits, but at this point it comes down to whichever combo has the higher base stamina. Unlike burst, x beys aren’t capable of “low speed bursts” because the ratchet requires a ton of force to untwist. Hope this information is helpful, let me know if any of it is hard to follow or if you have any questions!! Have a great day man, love this channel!
Love the idea of thinking about the upper attack as an uppercut, that totally makes sense. Good to know about how things played out in burst, I know I've seen a lot about what burst was like at the end of the generation, so it's cool to know why that may have been to a degree. Thank you so much for sharing the attack I missed! Such a bummer I didn't include it, I've definitely seen plenty of the late battle small hits towards the end like you mentioned, and good point on not really seeing low speed bursts in this generation. This was absolutely helpful, thank you again for sharing the information!
Honestly this video is soooo useful from my pov, not only as someone wanting to try the game, but specially as someone wanting to DESIGN their own beys, it's just useful to know what any form om the blade does
Hey! I just wanted to say i wat hed all your videos just today and think they are super well put together. Your objective in each video is direct and thought out. You speak clearly and have a certain charisma that other "beytubers" lack. Keep up the good work im only recently getting into beyblade after almost 20 years. I also think a simple sign off like "thanks for coming on this journey with me" would be helpful especially for people watching your videos in quick succession like me know when a new video starts when im turned away or something
It’s nice to see beyblade going back to the metal era I grew up with metal beys and it’s customizable even though they remind me more of shogun steel beys because of there tallness can’t wait to get an X bey
I binged all your videos months ago because they where so well made and I just remembered your channel so I decided to have look at your new videos I hope you upload again soon
The first two attack types are based on where it aims. Upper tries to hit and make an impact to raise the opposing bey. The Lower tries to slam downward and destabilizing it. Smash hits is just a straight up ramming full force into the center horizontally
I figured out through testings that if you hard angle launch dran sword stock, you can get some pretty sick upper attacks and gets a higher win rate than compared to when you flat launch it. Obviously this technique was common with the previous gens. But in X, you have the path divider, making flat launching no longer obsolete. But for some x beys, angle launching is still the way to go.
I could be mistaken, but I believe your definition for “lower attack” describes smash attacks. Other than that, amazing video. I love this informative content
Your pretty much spot on with everything. The main thing with weight and smash attacks is that a heavy blade can hit harder, but there comes a point where the weight might actually slow you down a bit making the hit not launch the opponent's blade as hard. Now due to the extreme line on the stadium, has made X blades the fastest generation so this isn't as much to account at the current moment, but if we get to really heavy blades later in X might come up more like it has in past generations.
That makes sense there could be a balance for weight where the effectiveness starts to wear off if it's too heavy. I'm curious to see how things go if we get heavier beys with the extreme line. Thanks so much for the info, I appreciate it!
I have found absolutely insane consistency with my Keel Shark/Shark Edge 9-60 P. The P provides a decent amount of endurance while giving it a few good and powerful runs along the extreme line, and the best part is you don't even need to give it a full powered launch (in fact, full powered launch can end up with you self KOing).
Another type I've thought of (though, I'm unsure how practical and accepted of a subtype it is) is stationary attack. An attack type blade/layer/wheel on a defensive or stamina type bit/driver/tip, with the idea being to sacrifice power gained from momentum to more consistently hit the opposing bey since beys usually return to the center. Though I would think this archetype would be redundant in X, considering that the Xtreme rails exist, but might be useful in Burst, Mfb, or Bakuten Shoot.
Join us. Welcome to the hobby/sport. Also... to clarify a bit more on the attack types. Theres Smash as you said Upper as you said Lower unsure if you said but its more or less one of the features of blades such as Vipertail, HellScythe, HellsChain. Which is to be higher then the openent and the blades conacys swoop down and tip the blade over creating a destablizing force. Its often not very reliable if the blade attacking can be tipped over in tow.
These attacks are based on what angle we shoot our bey, but there are so many other attack strategies that being depended on build and positioning (by taking account how the bey move) Beyblade x is so fun
oh hey, here is something that I just recently learned myself: I call it a tilt attack, its when you try to turn your high stance defensive bey into an attacker by launching it in an exaggeratedly tilted position, the Idea is to use the tilted position to burst stationary stamina or defense types that has been launched on a neutral position. When I tested it 9 out of 15 fights resulted in a burst, but be warned though because the bey is tilted so much it does run the risk of being bursted itself. I hope and wish maybe you can test this too
That's just upper attack with more tilt. In fact, tilted launching is the entire basis for the setup. Shark Edge, Dran Sword, and Dran Dagger all excel at this.
@@BeybladeJourney Nope, this is how upper attack is. If you're flat launching an upper attack bey, then you won't be getting the most out of it. You'll end up losing a lot of damage potential. Personally what I do is instead of angling it towards the stadium, I angle it back towards me so that when I launch and it rushes to the other side, it doesn't self KO.
Lower Attack is seen rarely because it requires your Beyblade to be kind of tall and that is usually not good for an attack type. Since attack types tend to want to be short so they can gain momentum. And parts that allow for lower attack are rare too. You could have also talked about stationary attack types. SharkEdge+Needle could be a good example of this. It stays in the middle but has good recoil to send the opponent flying
That's a good point, thank you for clarifying that, I wonder if we'll see parts that make lower attacks more possible in the future. Stationary attacks is something I absolutely missed, I've definitely seen the Shark Edge Needle combination in tournament decks and didn't put 2 and 2 together, thank you so much for pointing that out!
One last one I haven't seen any comments on this one yet. Stationary Attackers this one probably the most uncommon. It usually takes the center and must have high recoil for it to work. It usually works as a distabilizer.
I think what you're describing for lower attack is just smash attack, and that's what the TT officials use when explaining blades like vipertail and hellschain I haven't really heard a term being used for just slamming your opponents straight on since it's just commonly related to recoil
Force Smash is definitely one of the alternatives I found, maybe I should've included the alternate names in the video, but thought that might just make it confusing
another question is x beyblades even official beyblades because it would be cool to make like slightly weaponized full metal beyblades that function more like the ones from the show spinning and hitting about the same @@BeybladeJourney
one type of attack type that you didn't bring up is barrage attackers usually blades with more then 3 blades that can do lager attacks but usually end up doing smaller recoil attacks constantly to destabilize the bey and in x's case possibly get a burst downside is they have more recoil so they will be tossed around super easy and it can backfire a little bit
when it comes to smash attacck types its always wise to pick a attack ring that looks the least circular since they create alot of recoil and smash attacks utilizes recoil to do what it's suppose to do and I dont know if this is a thing in beyblade x but there's this attack type called anti attak where its main point is to deflect attacks but also knock out beys in this its best to pick defense type attack ring that looks the least circular like rhinohorn for example, despite being a defense type it still has recoil due to the lack of circular shape. It's best to watch yt vids regarding abt this type since it's pretty complex
@BeybladeJourney yw it's nice to see people getting into beyblades and I'd recommend watching yt video talking abt competitive plays and parts as that would help you learn more with beyblades and you'll soon realised the endless possibilities you can make with it!
You got most of this correct, but the one exception is "Lower Attack". While the name makes sense relative to Upper Attack, most players in the game use "Force Smash". It's a worse name because it gets mixed up with Smash Attack, but it's what players have been using for decades now.
I keep thinking it's reversed with the force smash being speed based collision ones and smash just being the downward attacks, but me thinking that also lines up with me pulling up the wiki and seeing that it calls those ram attacks "spike" attacks. Also, Barrage Attacks are a forgotten archetype here, having minimized attack points with the aim of "grinding" down stamina.
@@thundrakion Barrage Attack is strange. As a form of attack it's outclassed by the rest, but it's a pretty solid form of defense. Gives them uses on other Performance Tips/Drivers/Bits.
* you can skip the paragraph * There's also more sub divisions in the attack type genre like" Anti Attackers " or " Moblie defence" they are usually use for countering smash attackers, and Stalling but this would be more suited for a balance type since it trades off hard hits for stamina, The main goal with this type of style is to use the ridge for your advantage, however you might not see this type of play in X due to the X line so it is a little bit more risky than the standard 3, There's also " Stationary Attack " or '' K.O defence " which the name implies, its an attack type bey that stays towards the middle, with this setup, you usually want an upper attacker as your contact points, and a good performance tip with good resistance to the ridge. In theory this would make K. O easier because they don't have to flower pattern, but In return the stamina is heavily is sacrificed due to recoil. Example Combos: X Format Anti Attackers: DranDagger 3 60 Rush LeonClaw 5 60 Tapper HellSythe 4 60 Tapper Stationary Attack SharkEdge 4 60 Sharp DranSword 3 60 Point RinoHorn 4 60 Point I hope with this info helps you with your deck building!
I love that we can get into sub divisions or sub categories to really get in depth, and thank you so much for the examples, definitely want to test those out!
The rush launched automatically puts your bet in a flower pattern as shown in the anime but I this new gen you probably are going to do a flat launch so it immediately extreme dash
This might have changed completely during Burst, but at least during Metal Fight: Upper Attack is exactly what you said. Lower Attack Is smash attack (or force smash, depends where you’re from). And what you explained as Smash Attack is known as Spike Attack. Again, this might have completely changed during burst, I’m going off of Metal Fight terminology.
And if I recall correctly, for lower attacks (or smash attack/force smash) to work, not only do you have to be taller than the opposing Beyblade, but also heavier.
Couple of thing you got somewhat wrong about lower attack and smash attack Knight lance isn't for lower attack but more of a smash attack shape using the gaps where the blade curve inward Right now there's only one bey have lower attack and it's viper tail, using it curve down blade to eat away the opponent bey stamina And smash attack don't need a big contact point to have big recoil, that's just for the bey durability and safety, infact a smaller and sharper the contact point give better recoil like guilty Longinus, xiphoid xcalibur from burst, phoenix wing and hellscythe have really sharp contact point
There also counter attack It work using a defense layer with counter attack gimmick Example like chain kerbeus from burst it have 6 free moving chain blade that absorb damage and 6 counter attack blade that can absorb attack from other bey then burst them in the process In beyX I'll say knight shield because one of the 3 shield on it have extra metal for unbalanced weight that make it able to do counter attack or a balance driver/bit shape similar to point bit Although this work better I'm burst because of the shape of the point bit isn't as good as unite from burst and the stadium is different The beyblade chill in the middle like a defense/stamina type and when it got hit, it ride on it flat side of the bit/driver to do counter attack, in burst we called it counter break
The stadium size is advantageous to attack types, leaving no room for other types to release their potentials. I play on a bigger stadium (80x80cm) and stamina & defense types are dominating.
Anyone running a dransword, tilt launcher about a 40 degree angle and aim for the center of the stadium. It'll perform a tilted spin and stay in the center of the arena for a around 6 seconds before moving to the X-Dash. Granted, this move isn't really to control when you get X-Dash and more so to control the center of the stadium against defense and endurance types. If it is laying hits on initial launch it may not be able to keep that rotation to hit the X-dash against defensive beys. I like to call this technique Swing Carousel, after those raised swings spinning swing rides at fairs and carnivals. Also, if you tilt at my of a 60 or 70 degree angle it will spin on the very edge of the tip and do a sort of saw blade maneuver i like to call Table Saw. This is risky though and should only be use if you are looking send them in the pits. You probably won't recover spin from a Table Saw so you you don't pit their bey upon launch you will most likely lose.
There's also another I'd like to mention. I suppose it counts as a type of attack, though it depends on who you ask. Anti-attack. Simply put, beys with anti-attack are built for the purpose of dealing with other attack types and their big hits, by countering with a good defense and hard hits. The KnightLance wheel is an example of something used for anti-attack. Typically the goal is to outspin them by bullying them into losing stamina or counter big hits with harder hits
I was going to mention that but I feel like they could also be grouped with barrage attackers because the increased stamina allows them to keep attacking for a longer period of time, hence delivering more attacks
@@1Mico11 eh, barrage attackers use constant hits in quick succession. Anti-attacks don't tend to do so in my experience l. Though I could still be wrong

I haven't really heard a term being used for just slamming your opponents straight on since it's just commonly related to recoil
US bladers refer to it as Force Smash
Force Smash is definitely one of the alternatives I found, maybe I should've included the alternate names in the video, but thought that might just make it confusing
@@maximumgames2990 that's interesting
Can someone explain to me judgement jokers atk type
Unfortunately I can't help with that, hopefully someone else in the comments will be able to
another question is x beyblades even official beyblades because it would be cool to make like slightly weaponized full metal beyblades that function more like the ones from the show spinning and hitting about the same
@@BeybladeJourney
one type of attack type that you didn't bring up is barrage attackers usually blades with more then 3 blades that can do lager attacks but usually end up doing smaller recoil attacks constantly to destabilize the bey and in x's case possibly get a burst downside is they have more recoil so they will be tossed around super easy and it can backfire a little bit
when it comes to smash attacck types its always wise to pick a attack ring that looks the least circular since they create alot of recoil and smash attacks utilizes recoil to do what it's suppose to do and I dont know if this is a thing in beyblade x but there's this attack type called anti attak where its main point is to deflect attacks but also knock out beys in this its best to pick defense type attack ring that looks the least circular like rhinohorn for example, despite being a defense type it still has recoil due to the lack of circular shape. It's best to watch yt vids regarding abt this type since it's pretty complex
Some others have mentioned anti attack in the comments as well, love all the information, thank you for sharing!
@BeybladeJourney yw it's nice to see people getting into beyblades and I'd recommend watching yt video talking abt competitive plays and parts as that would help you learn more with beyblades and you'll soon realised the endless possibilities you can make with it!
Do barrage attacks count
theres also launch patterns depending on what way you launch
Definitely, loves that additional layer of choices you have
You got most of this correct, but the one exception is "Lower Attack".
We miss you!
Where are you? Your videos are fun
Hope you're doing well bro ! Upload soon ! Hoping for a comeback!
* you can skip the paragraph *
There's also more sub divisions in the attack type genre like" Anti Attackers " or " Moblie defence" they are usually use for countering smash attackers, and Stalling but this would be more suited for a balance type since it trades off hard hits for stamina, The main goal with this type of style is to use the ridge for your advantage, however you might not see this type of play in X due to the X line so it is a little bit more risky than the standard 3, There's also " Stationary Attack " or '' K.O defence " which the name implies, its an attack type bey that stays towards the middle, with this setup, you usually want an upper attacker as your contact points, and a good performance tip with good resistance to the ridge. In theory this would make K. O easier because they don't have to flower pattern, but In return the stamina is heavily is sacrificed due to recoil.
Example Combos: X Format
Anti Attackers:
DranDagger 3 60 Rush
LeonClaw 5 60 Tapper
HellSythe 4 60 Tapper
Stationary Attack
SharkEdge 4 60 Sharp
DranSword 3 60 Point
RinoHorn 4 60 Point
I hope with this info helps you with your deck building!
I love that we can get into sub divisions or sub categories to really get in depth, and thank you so much for the examples, definitely want to test those out!
Viper Tail is a great Lower Attack blade
I'm gonna have to try that then!
PLEASE COME BACK
The rush launched automatically puts your bet in a flower pattern as shown in the anime but I this new gen you probably are going to do a flat launch so it immediately extreme dash
U should do shorts
This might have changed completely during Burst, but at least during Metal Fight:
Upper Attack is exactly what you said.
Again, I could be completely wrong.
Couple of thing you got somewhat wrong about lower attack and smash attack
Knight lance isn't for lower attack but more of a smash attack shape using the gaps where the blade curve inward
Right now there's only one bey have lower attack and it's viper tail, using it curve down blade to eat away the opponent bey stamina
And smash attack don't need a big contact point to have big recoil, that's just for the bey durability and safety, infact a smaller and sharper the contact point give better recoil like guilty Longinus, xiphoid xcalibur from burst, phoenix wing and hellscythe have really sharp contact point
There also counter attack
It work using a defense layer with counter attack gimmick
Example like chain kerbeus from burst it have 6 free moving chain blade that absorb damage and 6 counter attack blade that can absorb attack from other bey then burst them in the process
In beyX I'll say knight shield because one of the 3 shield on it have extra metal for unbalanced weight that make it able to do counter attack
or a balance driver/bit shape similar to point bit
Although this work better I'm burst because of the shape of the point bit isn't as good as unite from burst and the stadium is different
The beyblade chill in the middle like a defense/stamina type and when it got hit, it ride on it flat side of the bit/driver to do counter attack, in burst we called it counter break
I’m really happy the Beyblade X meta is mainly attack but sometimes stamina and defense might not be too bad either
The stadium size is advantageous to attack types, leaving no room for other types to release their potentials. I play on a bigger stadium (80x80cm) and stamina & defense types are dominating.
Wasn't there a promo image of a new stadium, or was that fake? If it was real it could mix things up a bit
Hey if you ever come back I would love to sell you everything that has come out and there all mint/never used
Has anyone noticed that he has a background in competitive Nerf?
for the upper attack name, think upper cut. you're punching from below
That absolutely makes sense, thank you!
I think lower attack is actually smash attack
Hey there, i create 3d models for beyblades and would like to make you a custom blade.
That's so kind of you, thank you for offering that!
@@BeybladeJourney is there a way i can contact you privately?
Sorry I completely failed to add that, you can email Jangular.business@gmail.com if you'd like
Where did the rookie king go? Hasbro is out and some the most polish cotent of the community is absent from our timelines. I hope you're doing well BJ
Maybe it would be a sort of sub category within Barrage? Either way thank you for sharing this, I definitely missed some attack styles!
