Pure ignorance
@@907Rome You white? You European? Feel bad? It's yr only help.
@@907Rome the huns invaded and conquered Rome. And they shared a similar appearance to the Siberians or Indigenous Americans.
Bring down the Columbus statue!
You wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for him.
Yes! Replace it with Taino Cheif Hatuey!!!
A main reason why there’s any ‘ambiguity’ among some folks is because of news media segments like this - entertaining nonsense.
Columbus didnt discover shit we were already here.
@@danielfloyd1293 technically he did discover people because one can not discover themselves. He discovered savages with no written language taking slaves of other native nations and Cannibalising one another. By the way do you need any blankets? Lol 😂
He discovered it from the Eurasian perspective.
March 14th 1891, 11 Italian immigrants lynched in New Orleans.
@@Giuseppe_1994 terrible that
There is already an Indigenous People's day. It is the day after Thanksgiving and is called "Native American Heritage Day".
they can’t have 2 days?
@@kelseybarton They can have a whole month. In fact November is Native American Heritage Month. Why take Columbus Day away? Seems petty af especially when a large amount of Italian and Hispanic communities celebrate it.
Columbus Day!❤🇺🇸🇮🇹
Columbus wasn't even the first and he didn't even land on North America. Why does he get the attention?
@@ritacouchcooper2842The Vikings didn’t tell anybody they visited America. Columbus inspired thousands of other explorers. Also he did land in North America: Puerto Rica, Cuba, Jamaica
Celebrate a Mass murderer who enslaved thousands? No! Screw Columbus
even if columbust was from genoa which they proved he wasnt he never actually set foot in whats now considered america
As an Italian (BORN in Italy, not Italian-American)... please, let's stop with this Columbus Day nonsense. It's embarrassing. Indigenous Peoples' Day makes much more sense to be elevated and celebrated.
How is Columbus Day considered Italian culture?
First westerner to set foot in america, besides maybe the vikings.
@@samwisegangee1174 is that it?
Yeah it's an insult.
@@samwisegangee1174 the Vikings set foot in North America over 1000 years ago. But before that there was literally Asiatic oracle bone writings etched on rocks in the American Southwest a thousand years before Christ.
It was celebrated after the largest lynching in us history
This is why I moved out of corrupt RI.
Missing out on the "important issues like this and not trivial things like inflation and dwindling resources lmao.
I think it’s a blessing that we can have a day off together once in a while!❤We have been taking almost two weeks off every month for the past many years and I have just been feeling really stressed out about it because I feel like we’re just trying not to worry too much about it but I have to admit that it’s a lot of work that we need to catch up with each day that we have been doing this! Anyway I thought I’d share this message with everyone! Sincerely yours too brother Wiley
Why is any nod to the indigenous people connected to some white people holiday that signifies the disrespect of the indigenous people? It's a lame attempt to make any kind of repair. The indigenous people were hunted like animals by the white man. Terribly horrible. Indigenous people need respect, not a holiday add on. Just my two cents.
@@ritacouchcooper2842 your wrong
@@ritacouchcooper2842 many of the tribes were at war with each other. Tribes made slaves of other tribes. tribes would take women from other tribes and use them as sex slaves. Columbus protected some tribes from other tribes. All the natives didn’t live together in a utopia. The treated other tribes like animal. Some of the tribes were cannibals. The indigenous people were very formidable vicious fighters. Europeans and Americans fought them for nearly 600 years and almost lost. Natives killed hundreds of thousands of settlers and explorers. That’s why we revere them as fighters and named numerous things after them. Apache helicopters chinook helicopters tomahawk missiles the list goes on and on. It was very complicated and your 2 cents is absolutely ridiculously incorrect. Columbus Day was never meant to disrespect native people. Columbus Day is a recognition of the importance he played in exploration of the Americas. It recognizes the difficulties he overcame to travel in a wooden ship across an unfamiliar and untraveled ocean while documenting and mapping every step of the way. What Columbus did was the equivalent of traveling to the moon in his time.
@@ie4299 you’re such a great communicator. 😂
It really sucks to be a WM in America these days for this reason. Lol.
i think this is a step in the direction of giving them the respect they deserve; no one said we have to stop here. plus, it’s better than not acknowledging them at all in the name of the holiday.
