I'm doing a 01 5.9 Magnum , your videos have been alot of help.
I did the porting and inspection of the old valves. I had a lot of pitting on the exhaust valves where they met the seat and ordered a new set of valves .

These heads are capable of WAY more power than stock, and it involves smoothing, back cutting the valves, and deshrouding them...... the pinch point isnt the trouble....... dont forget to widen the shoulders on the short sides in and out, but be careful of water jackets

Biggest challenge on these heads is the pinch point - if you have enough material to open that about 0.040" you would like it.. Pretty good cleanup with basic tools here - but no, it didn't get ported.

Yep, just trying to clean up casting slag and make the ports match the intake. They're not going to flow a lot better, but at least it should help reduce some turbulence.

A before and after on the dyno would be interesting.

Leave all that alone and just blend the bowls next time.

You should use machinist indigo dye on your heads and a scribe!

I use a sharpie marker even with a new intake gasket - red , blue or green .clean surface and mark it with a marker

I used a sharpie instead of paint. Seamed to work okay.

Can I use a wire wheel on the valve seats and it will be safe still?
    Thanks for the video 👍

Yes, they are hardened so feel free to use a wire wheel and brushed to get the carbon and junk out of the seats, pockets and combustion chamber. I pretty much wire wheel the entire head.

Did you have the heads checked for cracks seems common on there heads

Yes, cracked seats between the valves are real common. I have another set that is cracked. I didn't get these magnufluxed but I did a close visual inspection. The cracks are usually pretty obvious. I might have to pull out the others and show the difference.

Gasket matching is a waste of time unless the shrouding in the bowls is addressed in these heads. The pinch is alot less restrictive than your claim and you've made it worse by gasket matching the pushrod pinch side.
