Im a smartphone shooter. I’m actually working on a full length movie with my iPhone but someone gifted me this camera a month ago along with a nifty 50 and I’m loving it.This is my first actual camera. From using apps like Filmic Pro for so many years I understand iso, shutter speed and fps. My VND, CPL, blue flare and mist filters that I used in conjunction with my phone fit directly on my nifty 50. I did have to learn about aperture since you can’t set that on a phone. I love the softness of the footage as it’s a direct contrast to the harshness of cell phone footage. I grabbed a Ronin S and I’m Currently working on my first short shot with this camera
It’s a great camera to start out on. I’ll be making a tips and tricks video for it soon. Also the best flat profile I’ve found is Marvels cinestyle if you’ve started down that rabbit hole already.
@@TravisShore542 yes I’ve definitely started down that rabbit hole . I installed Magic Lantern and cinestyle as well. I’m subbing your channel.. can’t wait to learn from you
@@MobileFilmmakingHow have you managed to install ML? I’ve got the T3i with 1.03 firmware and I’m not able to install ML cause it’s only for 1.02 firmware.
bro you have the best settings they are so clean it makes me want to grab an old camera i been watched your old videos idk where the channel is but the t2i is good and t1i with your settings im gonna cop
Subscribed. Canon 600D (T3i) was my first serious camera with which I learned to expose manually, the first camera that I ever clicked with creatively. And now I am thinking about buying one again and installing magic lantern onto it. But on the fence between a T3i and a 70D for slightly higher. Anyways, looking forward to videos from you on the T3i. Just love the videos that came out of it. Oh and just noticed, my UA-cam profile picture is that of me shooting with one on a 50 mm lens.
I have a T3i and I just love it… still. I have an r6miii and don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome. Especially for focusing and low light. But if I just want to have fun… at the end of the day my T3i is my ride or die. It’s the best friend who’s just there reliable and not trying to impress you. Popped 2 random old SD cars in her yesterday and it was the weekend I got my dog and also my honeymoon trip. I was a little overwhelmed at all that camera had been through with me. I dunno. I could get whatever camera I want but I can’t get rid of it or stop shooting with it. At this point she needs a name.
I bought it last month for staring a UA-cam channel.man thank God. Could you make a tutorial for in home setup for best lighting and other stuffs please.
I just picked up a Canon T3i last week. For me it was a big upgrade from the Canon Rebel XT I have been using since around 2010. But I have been shooting alot of 35mm film as well( on many different styles of cameras) and I prefer generally the point & shoot Canon digital cameras like the older Powershot for video.
Sweet deal. I got a 5D mark II for $230 on eBay . Those prehistoric digital dslrs are fun to use in a world of perfect focus mirrorless cameras . Keeps you thinking
Thank you for all the work in this video. I have this camera with a 50mm 1.8 stm lens and works wonders! I'm searching everywhere for a good gimbal that goes with this combo, would you recommend me one?
Zyigun Crane V2. Just sold mine. Worked great. 99% chance I misspelled that lol. Don’t pay over $75 for one used. I sold mine to buy a newer version eventually.
I just subscribed for your t3i content. Might pick up a cheap T6i for autofocus video but my Hero 10 does most of my video work. But of course, no depth of field.
Thanks Tom! That seems to be what a majority of my views are from so I hope to focus down into using the t3i and subjects like editing moving forward. Thanks for the comments.
Hey Travis! Hope you're doing good. Been shooting stuff with my friend's T3i the past year and finally bought myself a T4i. Fell on your page and found a lot of interesting info so Thanks for sharing your tips about the T3i. Was wondering how you got that glowy effect in this video here? It's pretty nice and have tried getting the same result with Gaussian Blurs on premiere pro, filming with my 18-55 lens but it doesn't really look the way I wish. Also bought a cheap Holga lens and I really like it however it's just not versatile at all since there's no zoom on it. Thanks -Simon
It’s got really bad low light performance. Maybe pick up a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 and mount it to a tripod. But you’re going to be running a really slow shutter speed regardless, unless you use a flash.
@Travis542 thank you! I have been getting some good shots of the races before it gets dark around 4 ish, so the track has some shaded parts and some that get a lot of sun so some of my pictures are really bright or a little dark I'm happy with most of my pictures, but I feel like I can get better ones. I just can't figure out the best settings I'm using manual, and I do have an 18-55 mm lens I haven't tried
Are you using your histogram to expose at all? I normally set my iso at 200 or 400, set my aperture where I want it and expose with my shutter. I wouldn’t go any slower than 1/60 handheld. That’s gonna give you a ton of motion blur at 1/60. You’d probably get sharper photos running your shutter as fast as possible. For photography I can get away with running my iso higher than video. But not over 400. A good choice if you can find one is the 85mm usm too.
That’s a good deal! You could resell just the 55-250 for that. Normal problems are cracked screen and bumps and bruises. The audio preamps vary from copy to copy. But that’s worth the gamble for that kind of money.
There’s a canon eos rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera Body for only $25 it’s used so should i give it a shot and if so what lens would you recommend?
I love my T3i i take photos not video and i downloaded some picture styles and iam having lots of fun with them especially the black and white picture styles.
Would this be a good camera for car photography? Thats what I mainly do and I’m not entirely sure what budget friendly DSLR would be a good option. I currently use a Nikon D70S and I’ve loved it but it’s falling apart and I want something I can also take video clips for car edits as well as good quality photos
If you’re shooting during the day yes. But this camera struggles with high iso situations. Also if the cars are moving, this has a very slow burst rate. But for daytime videos yes. I’ve actually done quite a bit of car and motorcycle photography with one and I enjoyed the photos a lot. If you’re doing a lot of video, save up for an sl2.
I’ve only ever used a cheap Godox flash. I forget the model. I picked it up second hand and it’s worked on all the cameras I’ve had. Allows me to bounce flash and has some covers for diffusion.
I found one that comes with a decent amount of stuff for $350, is it worth it? I’m wanting to shoot sports videos like practices and games for creative video at my college. I e never shot on camera so I just want something I can use for practice and such
What kind of stuff and probably not. Unless it’s 2 or 3 good lenses like a 18-135 and maybe a 10-18. You’d be happier with an m50, kit lens and cheap shotgun mic. That being said I love mine but it is slow to use.
this video encouraged me to hold onto my t3i and buy a little point and shoot for my “upgrade” instead bc your video looks so good!
Thanks man!
I got my t3i in October 2023. I’m loving it and I made my money back with one event already

That’s a k and f concepts diffusion filter on a 24mm f2.8 lens, really cheap and good. I’d get the 1/8th.

Boya by-m1 into zoom h1n

I’ve never had that happen on mine.
