Please do more X Japan. They have crazy backstory, they broke up because the vocalist (Toshi) got brainwashed into joining a cult who did mental and physical harm to him and pushed him to disband the band. Few months later after this concert, (guitarist) Hide killed himself (either by accident or on purpose), Hide had solo career going on and had very different music style compared to X Japan. Yoshiki who is the pianist/drummer/composer and lyricist, has deep background, from when he was born doctors told his mother he wouldnt live very long, he had severe asthma and a fragile body, his father committed suicide when he was 10, he was already into classical music (piano) but his mother got him drums as a gift. He started drumming hard to comprehend the pain and sadness and anger due his father's passing, eventually after drumming so hard he had to wear a neckbrace and take medication, he was even collapsing on stage for the lack of oxygen, Yoshiki had surgery done to his neck/back few years ago, without it he would be paralyzed. Yoshiki composed a song for the Emperor of Japan and a song for the golden globe awards, Yoshiki had his own comic done by Stan Lee. X Japan was such a huge impact in Japanese society from their punk-ish crazy style to the music, since there wasnt a lot of that type of thinking in Japan back then, they have crazy musical influence in japanese rock, there is timeline where they say music is after X japan or before X japan, they started Visual Kei style, which then originated a lot of bands in japan. Yoshiki directed a documentary about X Japan called We Are X! Its one of the best documents ive personally seen, people from guns n roses, kiss , marilyn manson and other greatly known bands said that if X japan was to be born in USA or they would sing in english they were to be the biggest band in the world.

@@ShaneDiablo just found your reactions to x japan and instantly subscribed - please react to more of their stuff, from the earliest punk bootleg videos to the latest stuff they never disappoint. i am a fairly new fan, came 30 years too late i guess... they are amazing. yoshiki recently stated that he has not abandoned plans for a new x japan album at all, but due to the current situation and his health problems (physical as well as mental), this could take a while because he thinks he is not in the right mind yet to be a good member/leader for the band, also because he think he fucked up a lot in the past (at least thats what i understood), so in the meantime we can listen to all their good stuff and hope for the best 🖤

Taiji the bassist in the video also played with Loudness for a couple of years around 92.
A couple of other bands from the start of Visual Kei you might be interested in are Buck-Tick and Luna Sea whose guitarist/violinist Sugizo currently plays with X-Japan. As bands I would say they are less metal than X-Japan and more alternative/indie rock in sound.

Addendum Comment!! Forgive me in advance if anyone else has already pointed any of this out. First of all, this band is addicting....I've been watching all sorts of STUFF and I am captivated. Secondly, when I watched this video back - more than once! - and I researched the band a little bit, there was something way too familiar...what was it?? OH...the fact that the drummer is Yoshiki....THAT Yoshiki - the dude who was on stage with KISS in the couple of Video Oddtopsys (Oddtopsies?) you did from their End of the Road Tour in Tokyo! A couple of commenters on those clips even said, "Is that the same Yoshiki from X Japan????" It's the circle of metal life!!!

I don't know what happened here. I saw some dudes with some big ass hair, some solid smokey eyes, and a lot of blood. I'm going to be honest Shane, I was a bit confused, but I couldn't turn away. The tune was solid, but I don't think I'll be adding these guys to my list, but I also had a good time watching the video? I don't know. I don't know anymore. I think you broke my brain with this one.

thanks for reacting to X Japan ☺💐, this song is about a weekend, but, it is based on an Indian belief, it is said that the best day to commit suicide is the weekend, on Friday you end your life, on Saturday the soul is brought before a jury, on Sunday they will judge your soul and thus decide the destiny of your soul, it can be heaven or hell.
It can also refer to the search for spiritual Nirvana

The song is not about a terrible work week waiting for the weekend. "I'm on my wits' end" is about ending your life ON the weekend. Music videos are not really ideal for reaction videos, the live performances are way better.

HAIRZILLA!!! That is some kaiju grade sh** and I swear to God that is some of the BIGGEST hair I have ever seen...drag queens must pay out of the wahzoo for wigs that are anywhere near that. Did they mix wasabi paste into their hair gel?????? Bass player dude is kinda cute. I have never heard of these guys and considering the year (and depending on how long they had been around prior), I am going to assume they were originally just called X but had to later qualify as X JAPAN as not to be confused with the American "punk" band X. (Any thoughts on that, Phil???) Admittedly the song started to kinda sorta lose me toward the end (it got a little November Rain-ish for me) but otherwise, I thought this was AWESOME....love the look and moves for sure!! Glam for days, darling! 💗🤘⭐

    • @philipholmes5884
      @philipholmes5884 3 роки тому

Why sure...Lol ! Ya know that video of ours "Dancing with myself" well that was filmed at Club 88 a punk rock club (former strip club) where "X" was filmed for that movie "The decline of western civilization" and Melissa's friend Bobby (then Bondage) Durango met his bass player at the primier of that movie by the way...connections are slim but it is worth a mention ! Wayne ...the Club 88 owner was a cool old guy who would pay bands gas money even when they wouldn't draw many people in the venue !(something we were familiar with) but quite a few well known bands got there start there !

@@philipholmes5884 Oh man that is COOL...LOVE IT!!! 💗 I have not seen the original Decline film ("Part I") in many many years, and to this day I get it mixed up with Urgh! A Music War....I believe they were released in the same year - 1980 or 1981?? - which doesn't help.....and, if memory serves, X were in both films......

I wasn't sure whether to laugh at what you were saying or not because you didn't know, but if I remember correctly, the bassist and lead guitarist have since killed themselves (the guitarist potentially by accident)... When the drummer was about 10, his dad killed himself too... Fortunately though, the lead singer only got brainwashed by a cult for a few years though... Some messed up stuff happened to this band...
That said, a little while ago they started playing again... Not 100% sure what's going on now because the drummer was having neck surgeries and stuff because he headbanged too hard while drumming like a lunatic... I think he might be recovering... I think I saw them play in London in 2017, I think it was, and it was pretty amazing for me... The singer isn't quite as strong as he was, but he can still soar... Some people aren't as keen on the newer stuff, but I still like it... They got a friend from another band to take over lead guitar, but they do sometimes use recordings from the dead one as a tribute.
Either way, I certainly recommend checking out more X Japan... If you want more punky speed metal type stuff, check out earlier songs... Later on they go more hard rock and do a few power ballads too... They use more English in later songs, if you want something you can understand lol There are also some videos with English subtitles around too, I think.

I’ve never heard of this band. It wasn’t bad, but I couldn’t understand a word of it. The video was a little disturbing, but I watched it to the bitter end. Like a car wreck you can’t stop looking at. Honestly, I don’t know what to think. The hair was a distraction instead of adding anything. Lots of Aqua Net there!! They look like a typical glam band from back in the day. I looked them up and they were formed in 1982. From 1997 to 2007 they apparently broke up. But it says from 2007 to the present they are again active, although with a little different line up. They look much different now!!! Interesting, Shane, but I’m not totally sold.

This videoclip is about the sin of the members. Hide was always so agressive, kicked everybody's ass or just destroy things when he was drunk. He was usually fxxking drunk.
Taiji's sin was a love affair. Yoshiki's dad commited suiced, he can't accept the fact and he also wanted to nullify his life. Pata also drank always too much. Toshi did not have any sins he was 'saint'. When he started to sing in X other members taught him, how to move on the stage, how to behave, what should he say at MC.
It's so interesting at part 2:13 because hide hang himself (with a towel) when he was drunk.
This song is about Indian tradition as somebody wrote it previously. Die on Friday and your soul will be calm on Sunday.
