Chasing sea trout: FISHING INSPECTION and what do I HIDE in my bag?

  • On this windy spring day, I had another session with sea trout fishing. As I arrived at the fishing spot, the wind was blowing from the northeast creating enough current in the water. On the other hand, it blow freezing-cold air into my face, which made the fishing conditions a bit challenging, as I was fishing on a spot facing the north in order to have onshore wind. I was fishing during the rising tide.
I wanted to play a bit with a retrieve, since during the last few sea trout fishing sessions I saw quite some followers. By this, I expected to trigger sea trout to bite more actively. I was using a silver-green spoon lure and a dropper shrimp shape fly to chase the fish. I wasn't getting any bites, so I switched to a bright pink lure, which seemed not to attract attention from the sea trout either. I changed back to the silver-green lure and after a couple of casts felt a tug on my line. Finally, I caught a sea trout! The sea trout put up a good fight, even though it was not big. After a while, I managed to catch another sea trout. It was not a keeper (45 cm) but a decent-sized fish. Both sea trout were released back into the water.
As I continued fishing, a fishing inspection officer approached me to check whether I was following the fishing regulations. I showed him my bag, and he was satisfied that I was fishing legally. It was a good reminder to always follow the rules and regulations of fishing and to be respectful of the environment.
Overall, it was a successful day of sea trout fishing, and I was glad that I managed to catch a couple of silver trout! I have not seen a lot of followers this time, so I am not sure that I found out what technique for lure retrieve attracts the fish best. Fishing sea trout can be rewarding with the right approach and a bit of luck!

Cool. Glad to see inspectors, we call them game wardens, are serious, and present in Iceland.

Oh, that’s the first time I see the fishing controller. It’s good so everyone can get chance to catch big fish in long term.

I should also say that people should handle the fish properly when releasing

its great to see your goverment care enough to invest in your fisheries and assign controllers to your shores, we call them baliffs in the uk but they never are on the beaches, great job too on getting some nice fish 👍👍

Get a lot more takes if you drop the seeker size down to 12g. I also use the green silver the trout seem to love it along with the copper version

This is Marstrand area. It has huge number of nice spots, just open Google maps, satellite view, pick one relatively shallow with a lot of vegetation and go for it.
