Arctic Fox is actually quite well known in the semi permanent hair colouring world alongside Directions and Manic Panic. I've never had the chance to try Arctic Fox cause I kind of am loyal to Directions. This is the first time I'm actually hearing about Kristen... I'm glad she is no longer part of the brand now.
After SFX became a nightmare to get hold of (and eventually stopped completely) I went back to directions- hope they're not problematic🤞🤣 tried artic fox and really liked it but not easy enough to get here in UK compared to directions so directions for life😁

Having watched her for years she’s never been homophobic and is friends with many LGBT+ people including Manny Mua. I don’t personally believe most of the allegations made by AF employees as there was an obvious plot to push her out of the brand by her ex husband.

Like I recognize that this might be your truth [lived experience], and that you have the perfect right to say so, but don't expect me to shut up and always be sympathetic and supportive and call you brave.

Like, if it's the objective truth you'd say "this is THE truth" and if this was your perspective you'd say "this was my experience." I know the one I’m about to mention is not beauty related (but everyone and their moms collaborate with them) but hellofresh treat their employee’s horribly, specially in their warehouses where you have a lot of people of color. And I would assume influencers simply don’t care cause they literally just Google it. Like you said the product could be great is part of the integrity of influencers (if they have any) to do their research

For example, look at how many brands promote being paraben free - not because of science, but because of consumer demand. Oof, I was just thinking the other day I’d be interested in James’s opinion on DHC. Haven’t bought from them in quite a few years (I remember shipping and/or customs fees were crazy) but I liked some of their products, especially their cleansing oil. Definitely won’t be going back! Saw Arctic Fox while buying hair dye yesterday, they always come up but they’re really expensive especially considering the bad reviews. These people need to focus more on their businesses and less on being scummy.

I haven't bought anything from DHC in years but used to love their primer. I was actually thinking about repurchasing it recently but didn't know about the CEO til you mentioned it. So yeah, won't be making that purchase. It's so disheartening when you love a company's products only to find out later that they're shitty humans.
I had a friend from Korea when I was in high school and she refused to watch anime or use any products from Japan/Japanese companies. She said she doesn't judge or have prejudice against Japanese citizens, but that the government never really apologized for their actions against Korea and she doesn't plan on supporting Japan in any way

Thank you for doing your research on the brands you work with. I know the one I’m about to mention is not beauty related (but everyone and their moms collaborate with them) but hellofresh treat their employee’s horribly, specially in their warehouses where you have a lot of people of color. And I would assume influencers simply don’t care cause they literally just Google it. Like you said the product could be great is part of the integrity of influencers (if they have any) to do their research

Thank you for making these videos. I definitely don't want to support racist and homophobic brands. These videos help spread information. As consumers we do have some influence on the market. For example, look at how many brands promote being paraben free - not because of science, but because of consumer demand. I just want to add that I believe parabens are safe so please don't come after me ppl lol

Suntory doesn't mean "square bottle" in Japanese. It's a play on the founder's last name and the word "sun" (sun + Torii). You're thinking of "kakubin," which is the name of one of Suntory's blended whiskys that is sold in an iconic square bottle with a tortoise shell design.
Oof, I was just thinking the other day I’d be interested in James’s opinion on DHC. Haven’t bought from them in quite a few years (I remember shipping and/or customs fees were crazy) but I liked some of their products, especially their cleansing oil. Definitely won’t be going back! Saw Arctic Fox while buying hair dye yesterday, they always come up but they’re really expensive especially considering the bad reviews. These people need to focus more on their businesses and less on being scummy.

James, thank you for another great one! The only one I knew about was the first one but it's good to know about the other hot messes. I never really think these people are sorry about what they've done, just that they got caught publicly. But I can't be too mad at anyone who helps rescue dogs from the meat trade. No Dogs Left Behind has been the one I supported for years.

I haven't bought anything from DHC in years but used to love their primer. I was actually thinking about repurchasing it recently but didn't know about the CEO til you mentioned it. So yeah, won't be making that purchase. It's so disheartening when you love a company's products only to find out later that they're shitty humans.
I had a friend from Korea when I was in high school and she refused to watch anime or use any products from Japan/Japanese companies. She said she doesn't judge or have prejudice against Japanese citizens, but that the government never really apologized for their actions against Korea and she doesn't plan on supporting Japan in any way
