Local Spring Green WI resident here! I would love to see a podcast or podcast series on all things "hunting with kids". I have a 6, 4, and 1 year old so this weighs heavily on my mind. This topic has a ton of varying opinions, and it would be great to hear all of your perspectives as well. Keep up the great work!!
I watch the podcast regularly and got the chance to meet Reuben and Nick at a vendors day down here in Houston. Both of them are very knowledgeable on vortex products and optics in general. Awsome video. It is amazing how like-minded y'all are. I come from a different school, for sure. Mine are easy for me to select and require little consideration. Hunting, I want a Blaser K95 in 7mm remington (yes, my preferred hunting rifles are all single shots). It gives me the range and horsepower I need for all of my time in the woods. Not gonna say I'm a long time listener, but I stumbled across the channel while doing research for my first hunting rifle and now I keep the playlist of podcast eps running while I swing a hammer at work all day. I'm hooked. One thought I had was to go with a scout rifle type of build for ease of carry and solid all around goodness looking around I feel like the cz 600 trail in 7.62 might be the ticket. Am I way off base in my thought process? Still not 100% sure what the meta is for hunting so I guess I don't know if there are any big things the cz is missing that a good hunting rifle should have.
Since I am in WA state and can't have ARs or standard capacity mags. My pick are Mossberg 500, Ruger LCR, S&W 686+, Winchester Model 70 in 270 win, and Mini 14 ranch.
#1 is my Remington Nylon 66, I cut grass all summer to pay for that rifle at age12 in 1966, I put it on layaway when I had $20 down (had to have 1/3 down at Western Auto), I thought that rifle was the most modern sleekest most futuristic gun on the planet at the time, it has been proved by the test of time. #2 The Lugar that my dad brought back from D-day #3 My Dad's Winchester auto Shotgun #4 My dad's .45 Auto that he brought back from the war (marked US property) #5 My Sears .22 bolt action single shot that my grandfather left to me. # 1. Remington 1100 12ga 3inch Mag with 6 extra barrels Waterfowl,Upland Small Game, Varmints, Whitetail Deer. Trap-Skeet For over 48 years # 2. Ryan might be the most interesting man in the world. When Mark asks him about his love life on air (which he hasn’t in awhile) it makes me laugh so hard. Would love to hang and shoot with you guys. Would be Uber fun. U guys sold me 2 viper hd 3-15 because of the pod. My wife frowns at u now! Keep it up. Tom
Awesome topic. Watching this episode came to an idea. Since winter is approaching, and meaning cartridge talks. Is there any possibility to make an episode to compare the 6.5 cartridges? 6.5 creedmor, 6.5 ARC and 6.5 PRC. Would be interesting to hear your point of view.
My top five "utilized" guns 1- Ruger 10/22 with all kinds flavors to chose from depending upon the task of the day. 2- Merkel model 8 sxs 12ga for brush pile bunnies and upland bird work. 3- Weatherby accumark 30-378 or 300 depending on how bad i want my ears to ring opening weekend. 4- Patriot weaponry AR-15 .223 wylde and 300blk uppers with all the Gucci and titanium goodies a guy could want on the dog town. 5-Colt pre woodsman for ventilating soda cans
My 5 pick: 1 would be an M92 beretta. You got capacity, reliability and just overall good feel. 2 is a 12ga Mossberg or 870. Good for upland stuff and drones which looking at current wars might not be a bad thing to have around. 3 would be an AR but with a twist. You said 5 guns, legally the lower is the gun so an AR with a 5.56 upper for EOTW, 6arc for Yotes and a 350 Bushmaster for deer (Iowa). 4 is going to be a bolt gun probably in a Bergara 6.5 creed flavor for simple performance and versatility across a wide range. Last pick, an AK because I’m a nerd that loves those things. And it would be a 5.45 because it’s superior to 5.56 and I’ll die on that hill
AR10, with a 20" 308 precision upper with 5-25x MIL scope and Atlas bipod, and a 16" 308 lightweight upper with red dot and IR gizmos. Lightweight 10/22 or clone; Bergara BXR Carbon with 1-4x LPVO Mossberg 590A1 20" bead sight, with an M7 bayonet Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon 12ga Lightweight 3" 357 Revolver; Ruger LCRX
Hard to say, most of my Top 5 are also SHTF guns… 1) 9mm Pistol 2) 5.56x45 AR-15 3) Precision Rifle (probably 6.5CM or .308W) 4) 12GA Pump Action Shotgun 5) .22LR Rifle (10/22 or else) Bonus: .45ACP Suppressed Kriss Vector for home defense
Some designs have levels of finesse. There is a design with three distinct. Browning's last unfinished pistol. Level 1: Hi Power Level 2: CZ75 Level 3: Jericho 941 Same design, just one is more finely tuned. ☕🐝🇺🇸
To expland on what Ryan said I've heard the saying "The cobblers children often go barefoot" as a gun owner I feel this ill help out people and clean their guns and get them dialed in.Mean while I have a dirty gun that still needs sighted in
1.) Typhoon f12 magazine fed 12 gauge semi auto or Genesis arms GEN 12 with red dot or eotech 2.) HM Defense Stealth MS3 in 300 blackout subsonic ammo with a thermal optics and offset red dot and light 3.) Browning Maral or Savage Impulse straight pull rifle in 308, 30.06, 350 win, or 350 legend if they made one for ohio hunting restrictions(straight walled cartridges only).... prolly some type of 2-10 or 3-15 optic 4.) Ruger LC Carbine in 5.7 with 1-5 LPVO and offset red dot 5) Marlin Dark Series Tactical lever action 45-70 I sorta realized this list might be my SHTF list....but I dont use guns daily anyway soooooooo
Im gonna start with a hunting rifle 1 : Randy Shelby takedown in 280ai with a second barrel in 35 Whelan. 2 : faxon 6.8 black out ar with a nice titinum can. 3 : my granfathers ruger mark 4 hunter og ivory grips with the ablity to red dot it. 4 : AA12 for no orher reason than the wtfs when im in the bird blind with it. 5 : 1876 centennial winchester in 4570 case hardened in 26 in exspress configurations. I'm gonna pull a mark if I get an option a largo Alien would be nice. Maby replace the aa12 idk
Very interesting listening to your choices for "5" guns. How about going to the extreme? 1 gun as many European countries mandate. In particular, would anyone choose a Drilling? And what guage & caliber? Would you use iron sights alone?, or add a quick detach optic for the rifle barrel? Just curious what your thoughts are in this situation.
Savage M24 in 20 ga over .22 mag Vudoo Sinister Volquartson Black Mamba AR 15 with 223 Wylde upper and .22 ARC upper Weatherby Back Country Ti in 6.5 RPM
Top 5 dream guns that are not SHTF…. 1 A nice AK in 5.56 2 A very nice original Kar 98 3 Winchester 1892 in 32-20 Winchester 4 A Weatherby Mark V Carbon in 7mm WBY mag **cough** Cartridge talk **cough** 5 A Very nice over/under in 16Ga
Desert tech srs a2 in 33xc (but has quick change barrel system so add 300 Norma, 6.5 creed…I know it’s a cheat), 2011 10mm, 10/22 charger, Barretta 686 silver pigeon, and ar-15 in 6arc. I have all of these and couldn’t see not having them if I could only keep 5. If there were 6 rem700 in 223. If there were 7 I would add a 12gauge jm 930 pro.
-AR/CARBINE- something quality built & factory in 5.56 with an 18" barrel and a vortex strike eagle 1-6x24. -BOLT RIFLE- BERGARA MgLITE in 7 PRC. Long range shooting/Hunting. -SHOTGUN- MOSSBERG 940 PRO Tactical 12ga 3" 18.5" Barrel. - VARMINT/SMALL GAME RIFLE- Tikka T1x MTR .17 HMR. Everything from squirrels to small small predator animals. -PISTOL- GLOCK17 or S.W MP45.
All these goofy suggestions... 1: m4, 20", analog, 70g. 2: 1022, 18", analog. Ammo is available and affordable. Wear parts are available and affordable.
Hashtag mark has never held a CZ 75 before. Neither have I. But as long as he loves America and gives me one of those sweet hoodies, I’m okay with that.
1 in 30-06 - of course 1 in 458 Win Mag - for whatever walks on the planet 1 in 308 - general use 1 in 6.5 creedmoor - longer range lighter hunting 1 in 22 creedmoor - just cause dangit
Wow, your guy’s lists are BORING! It’s NON-SHTF, so why not have fun and non-practical guns?! My list would include a Barrett 50BMG, a full-auto AR-15, H&K MP-7, Taran Tactical Sand Viper and Beretta 1301 shotgun. All with Vortex Optics of course.
5 NON-SHTF?! 1894 .44mag Redhawk .44mag BCM AR15 Savage 99 in .308 FNX45 setup for .45 Super I don't shoot .22's often enough for them to make a top 5. I barely ever shoot shotguns, so yeah, a 5.56, a .308, and big bores.
That was a fun episode, thanks gentlemen! I think I will have to operate in Ryan's universe (IE add rather than replace). And one of the additions would also be a Casul, in .45 Colt. Two others would be single-shot falling blocks, one in 6mm Musgrave and one in .450-400 (I have an obsession with falling blocks). Then a historical straight-pull bolt action of some kind. Perhaps a 6mm Lee Navy. Last is a silenced 9mm sub-gun of some kind. It would have to be delayed-blowback and fire from a closed bolt but I don't particularly want an H&K. Call me weird, I know.
I have pretty much the same list, except instead of a Glock 17, I would have the CZ P01 (but I like the Glock 17, or even Sig P320 too). If I would pick a Glock, I’d go for the Glock 21, it would work great if I could have a 6th gun (Suppressed Kriss Vector in .45ACP to share mags). But overall, I still like 9mm the best for handgun, very basic/common in SHTF situation…
@@Spidouz nice! Yeah I think 9mm is the way to go. Really, any common-use cartridge is the way to go. You know there is always going to be some combination of 22lr, 5.56, 308, 9mm, and 12 gauge in almost every home in America.
I was amazed no handgun on Mark’s list and no fine revolver on any of them. I guess that I am more of a collector than a shooter, so my list would include one of the following 3) first year Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum -or- Colt Shooting Master 357 -or- 19th Century Colt 1873 Peacemaker (a.k.a. Single Action Army). Similarly a lever action rifle: 19th Century Winchester Model 1873 in .44-40 -or- Winchester 1895 in .30-06 -or- Winchester Model 64 Deluxe Deer Rifle. Browning BLR if you want modern and many chamberings available. Bolt action rifle in .270 Winchester: pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Supergrade -or- Sako Finnbear -or- Sporterized Mauser 98 Some synthetic stocked 12 gauge shotgun because just practical for so much. For me? A high grade over & under or classic side-by-side such as a Purdey. 1911 in .45 ACP. Are you guys American males? WWII 1911-A1
Have always liked the looks of muzzleloading revolvers and single actions, classic bolt guns with med barrel and a good scope maybe in 30.06 , classic lever action rifles in 30/30 or 45/70. And side by side shotguns.
I have a couple dozen bing bangs, or more, but if I had to get rid of all but 5, my list would look much like the lists you guys shared: a good, versatile bolt gun (probably a 308), a good, versatile 12 gauge (probably a Benelli), certainly a .22 (probably my Marlin model 39, lever gun), an AR in 5.56 and my Glock 34.
NON-SHTF (no self defense/offense application intended): Tikka T1x .22 Blaser R8 with multiple barrels Marlin 1895 Guide Gun (.45-70) Spartan Precision custom (6mm Creedmoor) Remington 870 Super Mag Covers long range shooting sports & all hunting I do or would like to do
I do wish everyone did a list like ryan. Would have made for a very interesting conversation. I feel like this question was what are 5 guns you want to collect within your lifetime if you could. I want an m1 garand, i already have a 1911, Barrett m82a1 50 bmg, an m24, and the Winchester 1873 trench shotgun from ww1
Me and my dad both shoot 300 wsm. For me, just like mark its my go anywhere, kill anything at any distance gun. i would like to know what ammunition mark was using on that bear hunt? Factory, reload, ect. Thanks!
Ryan, wow dude, you are friggin' awesome though! Great video guys, and great choices all. Mark, thank you for the updates! You're pretty awesome too. I loved the AR-15 6mm ARC choices. These days with all our available choices of firearms, it would be pretty damn hard for myself to only choose 5 guns. More reasonable, I believe, 10 guns would be twice as nice. Pre 1980s is a bit more of a simpler time and my 5 would be: #1- an M14/M1, 7.62×51 (308 Win), #2- a Dakota Arms, 300 Win. mag for BIG GAME, #3- a simple Ruger 10/22, #4- a Mossberg 500 12 gauge combo, rifled long barrel & short barrel smooth bore, and #5- a S&W 686, 357 mag 3" barrel. These days (currently) my 10 choices (still difficult) are: #1- a Sig Spear, 277 Fury (6.8×51), #2- a Browning X-Bolt 2 Speed, 300 PRC, #3- a simple Ruger 10/22 carbine, #4- a Benelli SuperNova, 12 gauge (combo short & long barrels), #5- a NAA 22MC-R (top break open 22 mag & 22 LR) w/a pocket slip and an ankle holster, #6- a Ruger PC 10mm, #7- a Glock 20 (10mm), #8- a Winchester 1886, 50-110 w/a 24" barrel & full length tube magazine, #9- a Horizon Firearms 22 Creedmoor, and #10- a CZ 550, 6.5×55 Swede, full length stock. It's been a lot of fun, fellas, thank you.
You guys should do a follow-up "5 cool to have/dream guns." Like the rest of the comments say, everyone but Ryan basically lists their "end or days" guns.
1. 16 ga. O/U with 3" chambers and interchangeable choke tubes that can shoot steel shot for upland and waterfowl. 2. CZ rifle in .17 HMR with Boyds thumbhole stock for backyard varmit control. 3. .243 Win. for deer and coyotes. 4. .40 S&W Sig Sauer P226 Elite 5. .380 ACP Sig Sauer P238
Because I live in Canada and our handgun laws are rediculous, no pistol. 1. Lockhart Tactical Raven .556. (This is a Canada legal unrestricted AR-15). 2. Modern production Winchester 1873 in .357 3. Browning T-bolt stainless in 22lr 4. Beretta 1301 gen 2 12ga in marine finish and would be ordering a barrel extension. 5. Beretta BRX1 in 30.06.
Considering this is a non-SHTF list, I’m gonna go on a limb saying that an AR is not qualified for the list cuz that’s a no-brainer requirement for SHTF as it is. I think my list would be 12-gauge pump (probably Mossberg 500/590) .308 bolt gun (any brand/action) 9mm polymer-striker (I’m currently partial to the G43X) Lever-action rifle (any caliber, pistol/rifle is irrelevant unless there’s a wheel gun in the same caliber) and the 10/22 is a must.
Question for Ryan. You mentioned that the Talkettna in 375 wasn't bad for recoil for what it was. My dad always thought the 308 vs 06 both loaded close to equal the 308 kicked more sharply!!! His thought was the sharper shoulder increased the quickness of the impulse. Your thoughts shoulder angle make a difference???
Id love to hear from a processional backpacker. I think it would directly relate with the channel. So many people dont realize the importance of a good bag an packing.
1. TC Encore rifle with 2 or 3 barrels(22 or or wmr, 270 Win, 300WM) 2. Over under 16 guage Trap Gun 3. Side by side 16 guage field gun for ducks and upland both of English make 4. 1911 in 38 Super or browning Hi-Power 5. Good Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum from back in the day or a good Ithaca 37 pump
It's good you guys sat down and talked this through. Mark could have been stuck with no pistol. On the bright side, we would have, some day, been blessed with a video on Mark's personal experience with EDCing an AR15 in 6mm arc.
Limiting yourself to five guns is extremely difficult. It only gives you one of each category. But this is definitely a list of must haves to be evenly weighted across most shooting realms. If someone wants to get farther into a specific hunting or shooting sport more guns might be necessary to be most likely to succeed. But this gives everyone a great starting point to experience almost any category of shooting sports that they wish and to have a great start at it. Love listening to the pod and I’m starting to get the deer fever with cold weather starting to blow in!
I have to agree with Ryans take on this question. Everyone else's gun choices are - basically - just a "Top five gun generic guns everyone should own". An AR, 9mm pistol, Bolt gun, 10-22, shotgun. Which in turn is basically also everyone's SHTF list too.
Definitely agree

# 1. Remington 1100 12ga 3inch Mag with 6 extra barrels Waterfowl,Upland Small Game, Varmints, Whitetail Deer. Trap-Skeet For over 48 years

# 5 Winchester Pre-War Model 70 300 H&H Mag Deer-Bears- Elk-Moose someday.
Yes there is some overlap in the Rifles as there should be. Handguns I don’t have much use for but I do know how to use one.
1- my 1912 ithaca 16 guage sxs
2- 1953 browning light twelve

Ace Arctus VR pistol bc free practice
1 BLR 300wsm
2 Beneli M2 20 ga left hand

My top five "utilized" guns
1- Ruger 10/22 with all kinds flavors to chose from depending upon the task of the day.
Fun to watch. Thanks hank you!
Doesn't Ryan wear a cowboy outfit for the spaghetti shootouts?
Lightweight 10/22 or clone; Bergara BXR Carbon with 1-4x LPVO
Mossberg 590A1 20" bead sight, with an M7 bayonet
Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon 12ga
Lightweight 3" 357 Revolver; Ruger LCRX
Hard to say, most of my Top 5 are also SHTF guns…
1) 9mm Pistol
2) 5.56x45 AR-15
3) Precision Rifle (probably 6.5CM or .308W)
4) 12GA Pump Action Shotgun
5) .22LR Rifle (10/22 or else)
Bonus: .45ACP Suppressed Kriss Vector for home defense
Some designs have levels of finesse.
There is a design with three distinct.
Browning's last unfinished pistol.
Level 1: Hi Power
Level 2: CZ75
Level 3: Jericho 941
Same design, just one is more finely tuned.

To expland on what Ryan said I've heard the saying "The cobblers children often go barefoot" as a gun owner I feel this ill help out people and clean their guns and get them dialed in.Mean while I have a dirty gun that still needs sighted in
My non shtf guns I own. Mare’s leg, .460 xvr 3.5” snubby, naa .22, mpa 30T, saiga iz-19 shotgun
1.) Typhoon f12 magazine fed 12 gauge semi auto or Genesis arms GEN 12 with red dot or eotech
2.) HM Defense Stealth MS3 in 300 blackout subsonic ammo with a thermal optics and offset red dot and light
3.) Browning Maral or Savage Impulse straight pull rifle in 308, 30.06, 350 win, or 350 legend if they made one for ohio hunting restrictions(straight walled cartridges only).... prolly some type of 2-10 or 3-15 optic
4.) Ruger LC Carbine in 5.7 with 1-5 LPVO and offset red dot
5) Marlin Dark Series Tactical lever action 45-70
I sorta realized this list might be my SHTF list....but I dont use guns daily anyway soooooooo
Im gonna start with a hunting rifle
1 : Randy Shelby takedown in 280ai with a second barrel in 35 Whelan.
Savage M24 in 20 ga over .22 mag
Vudoo Sinister
Volquartson Black Mamba
AR 15 with 223 Wylde upper and .22 ARC upper
Weatherby Back Country Ti in 6.5 RPM
Top 5 dream guns that are not SHTF….
1 A nice AK in 5.56
2 A very nice original Kar 98
3 Winchester 1892 in 32-20 Winchester
4 A Weatherby Mark V Carbon in 7mm WBY mag **cough** Cartridge talk **cough**
5 A Very nice over/under in 16Ga
Desert tech srs a2 in 33xc (but has quick change barrel system so add 300 Norma, 6.5 creed…I know it’s a cheat), 2011 10mm, 10/22 charger, Barretta 686 silver pigeon, and ar-15 in 6arc.
I have all of these and couldn’t see not having them if I could only keep 5. If there were 6 rem700 in 223. If there were 7 I would add a 12gauge jm 930 pro.
Ryan in northern mn we call that hat a chromer
Anything chambered in 5.7 x 28. I want to like the round so much but can't justify using it beyond I Want To.
I'm rooting for 250 likes so that ryan has to get a cowboy hat
The best shit hit the fan gun is the one you have and can shoot the best..
I wish Ryan would have answered the actual question. 😅 I'd like to hear what he really came up with.
All my old ones that were passed down
-AR/CARBINE- something quality built & factory in 5.56 with an 18" barrel and a vortex strike eagle 1-6x24.
-BOLT RIFLE- BERGARA MgLITE in 7 PRC. Long range shooting/Hunting.
-SHOTGUN- MOSSBERG 940 PRO Tactical 12ga 3" 18.5" Barrel.
- VARMINT/SMALL GAME RIFLE- Tikka T1x MTR .17 HMR. Everything from squirrels to small small predator animals.
-PISTOL- GLOCK17 or S.W MP45.
All these goofy suggestions...
1: m4, 20", analog, 70g.
2: 1022, 18", analog.
Ammo is available and affordable. Wear parts are available and affordable.
the formula i use is small rifle, large rifle, shotgun, pistol, miscellaneous. i call this "the hand."
Hashtag mark has never held a CZ 75 before. Neither have I. But as long as he loves America and gives me one of those sweet hoodies, I’m okay with that.
Hmm this should be very interesting t
No one said muzzleloader. Shame!
First
Second lol
The obvious answer here is 5 M1 Garands. Murica.
1 in 30-06 - of course
1 in 458 Win Mag - for whatever walks on the planet
1 in 308 - general use
1 in 6.5 creedmoor - longer range lighter hunting
1 in 22 creedmoor - just cause dangit
Freaking love Ryan…salt of the earth.
Seems Ryan is only one to get the assignment. The rest are pretty much what 5 guns do I need!!!
“YOUR LISTS ARE BORING!!!1!1”
*proceeds to list off the most generic vanilla boring COD inspired guns* lmao
@@Swollenfishy Your reply is vanilla and boring. Don’t act like you wouldn’t want to own any of my picks.
@@wisco_guy I wouldn’t because I don’t care for any of those firearms. For multiple reasons for each firearm pick.
800mm German railroad gun.
@@pogeegitz Now you’re talking!
5 NON-SHTF?!
1894 .44mag
Redhawk .44mag
BCM AR15
Savage 99 in .308
FNX45 setup for .45 Super
I don't shoot .22's often enough for them to make a top 5.
1. Ruger 10/22
2. Bolt action in 308/6.5 creedmoor (22 inch barrel)
3. AR-15 in 5.56 (16-18 inch barrel)
4. Glock 17 in 9mm
5. Pump action 12 gauge (28 inch barrel)
At 13:40 did Mark leak a new LHT 2.5-10 or was that a mistake?
That’s he new accuracy standard “chicken proof”
Great episode, my choices would be 2011 in 9mm, 10/22, mp5, Browning A5 12 g, ruger guide gun 30-06
Bolt action rifle in .270 Winchester: pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Supergrade -or- Sako Finnbear -or- Sporterized Mauser 98
Some synthetic stocked 12 gauge shotgun because just practical for so much. For me? A high grade over & under or classic side-by-side such as a Purdey.
1911 in .45 ACP. Are you guys American males? WWII 1911-A1
Without a doubt, a revolver would be on my list. A S&W Model 17 in 22lr, Colt Python, S&W 586, S&W 442, or Colt Dianondback would all be terrific.
NON-SHTF (no self defense/offense application intended):
Tikka T1x .22
Blaser R8 with multiple barrels
Marlin 1895 Guide Gun (.45-70)
Spartan Precision custom (6mm Creedmoor)
Remington 870 Super Mag
Covers long range shooting sports & all hunting I do or would like to do
I do wish everyone did a list like ryan. Would have made for a very interesting conversation. I feel like this question was what are 5 guns you want to collect within your lifetime if you could. I want an m1 garand, i already have a 1911, Barrett m82a1 50 bmg, an m24, and the Winchester 1873 trench shotgun from ww1
Casually referencing Karamojo Bell, peak Ryan. Exquisite taste though.
Me and my dad both shoot 300 wsm. For me, just like mark its my go anywhere, kill anything at any distance gun. i would like to know what ammunition mark was using on that bear hunt? Factory, reload, ect. Thanks!
Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle in .45, my 35 Whelen AI, my CZ 455 FS 17 HMR, an AR 15, SA 9MM EMP.
4. .40 S&W Sig Sauer P226 Elite
5. .380 ACP Sig Sauer P238
Langdon PX Storm Compact. Ruger 10/22. AR15 in 5.56. Bolt gun in .308 or .30-06. GAU-8 Avenger (or Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 series).
1.) A fully transferrable MG42/MG3. Either would be splendid.
2-5.) Who cares, I have a fully transferrable MG42/MG3 now.
Because I live in Canada and our handgun laws are rediculous, no pistol.
1. Lockhart Tactical Raven .556. (This is a Canada legal unrestricted AR-15).
2. Modern production Winchester 1873 in .357
3. Browning T-bolt stainless in 22lr
1) Golden Tiger Stripe Desert Eagle in .50AE
2) Lynx .50 BMG
3) 16 inch Suppressed 6ARC AR-15
4) m1014/M4 12 gauge
5) Transferable Type-56 Norinco AKM
Question for Ryan. You mentioned that the Talkettna in 375 wasn't bad for recoil for what it was. My dad always thought the 308 vs 06 both loaded close to equal the 308 kicked more sharply!!! His thought was the sharper shoulder increased the quickness of the impulse. Your thoughts shoulder angle make a difference???
My choices..ar15 223, bolt gun in 223, bolt gun 308, ruger precision rimfire 22lr and i agree a pdp 9mm.
.45-70 Gov. Marlin Guide Gun, 7mm Rem Mag bolt action, Marlin Model 60, 1911 in .45 ACP and Mossberg 500 Pump 12 ga.
I own my 5: BCM Recce-16 in 5.56. W/LPVO
CA Mesa 300 Win Mag W/ Vortex LHT
Beretta A300 W/Dot
Glock 19 W/Dot
M&P 2.0 10mm W/Dot

CZ 22lr
Glock 20 10mm
Tikka 6.5 creedmoor

Super black eagle 12 ga
Rain-Maninhern is the only one that understood the homework.
Redo/round 2- List your top 5 but NO: 10/22, poly9, 6.5 bolt, AR, 12ga
Id love to hear from a processional backpacker. I think it would directly relate with the channel. So many people dont realize the importance of a good bag an packing.
What was the name of the gun he is looking for? I have a big time collector in my town.
SHTF always looks like SHIT to me...
6:37 let me guess, let me guess… a .300 WSM!
780 yards! Not a hunter... just a shooter?
ALL guns are SHTF guns if S ever HFT.
M2-HB .50cal
1. TC Encore rifle with 2 or 3 barrels(22 or or wmr, 270 Win, 300WM)
2. Over under 16 guage Trap Gun
3. Side by side 16 guage field gun for ducks and upland both of English make
4. 1911 in 38 Super or browning Hi-Power
5. Good Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum from back in the day or a good Ithaca 37 pump
Wow 3rd reply I've seen mentioning the 16 gauge! Cool
Kinda brokedown at 30 min with the Bert conversation, but this is the type of comical/witty banter that truly makes the Vortex podcast the best!
It's good you guys sat down and talked this through. Mark could have been stuck with no pistol. On the bright side, we would have, some day, been blessed with a video on Mark's personal experience with EDCing an AR15 in 6mm arc.
My top 5🤔
1: 10/22 bull barrel
2: PTR91 (Burt vibes)
3: Remington 7mm Mag
4: CZ Hammer Coach
5: Beretta 92fs
Limiting yourself to five guns is extremely difficult. It only gives you one of each category. But this is definitely a list of must haves to be evenly weighted across most shooting realms. If someone wants to get farther into a specific hunting or shooting sport more guns might be necessary to be most likely to succeed. But this gives everyone a great starting point to experience almost any category of shooting sports that they wish and to have a great start at it.
Love listening to the pod and I’m starting to get the deer fever with cold weather starting to blow in!
Always appreciate Ryan's love of fine firearms. A podcast about Kipplauf rifles would be a fine one. Keep up the good work.
Ryan's passion for firearms and his explanations as to why are always great to listen to.
