What makes a hippy? Meet the Volunteers at Tenerife Horse Rescue: Do you think we are hippies?

- In today`s episode, we introduce you to some of our devoted Workaway volunteers who help create our animal sanctuary as an amazing place for both animals and people.
You will hear what their tasks are and what is their background. You`ll meet volunteers that create our social media presence, do construction, take care of horses and other animals, do food collection, cooking and cleaning.
They will each answer a question that has been asked many times: "Are we just a bunch of hippies?" Our volunteers share some very interesting views on hippie life and how they`re experiencing their life at Tenerife Horse Rescue.

From wat I can see via the videos, I see loving caring people, looking after animals that would otherwise be killed or left to die in pain. You recycle a lot of materials which is seriously fantastic, I hope many watching are inspired by you and learn not to throw reusable things into the landfill.

YES!!! Thanks to the „handyman“ 🙈😅 (I’m mad with names) who really spoke out, what my opinion and way of thinking about being a „Hippie“ also includes! Me myself likes to be named a „Hippie“, even if it’s connotated badly, due to the fact that it openly shows the irritation of others, while seeing and realising, that it really is possible and obviously enjoyable - maybe the happiest way of - living that way: sustainable, free, nature related, eco-friendly, consume-free - in your words „freegan“ 🥰, in society, nature and harmony… 😘

This is a great great video to enlighten and educate those that perhaps don’t have the right information or experience to appreciate that choosing to live a different or “unconventional “ lifestyle is a choice made by people of all different backgrounds and from all walks of life. The hippie movement did start out with lots of youngsters sitting around and chilling all day,smoking weed and really pissing the grownups off..but that was 60 years ago and some people still think a hippie lifestyle is still like that.The term hippie in itself is not an offensive term ..googled its description says....”free spirited,nonviolent,happy,community living,life loving,ethical,bohemian,long hair and tie dyed clothes,using essential oils instead of deodorant(yes 😄really )..lots of lovely positive things. You and your super talented ,kind and hard working volunteers are enjoying a fantastic life on the finca and you are all so blessed to have what you have..and lots of people really love and support you.❤️
Hey remember that Hippies,are identified by being paeceful living,free spirited,,and unmateriealistic ..they didnt chose this name ,,but Most of all ,before being labelled hippies,,they were called "the beautiful people" and that suits you guys very well,,you are beautiful inside and out♥️🐎👌🎶🌄

Hippie is an antiquated word, there are no real hippies anymore, now you have people living on the beach, smoking dope and doing not much more, which one should also respect. To call a group of hard working, highly skilled and qualified people who spend some of their time helping to bring forward a wonderful project to save animals hippies is shameful, when it is meant nastily. I admire so much what you're doing!!!! Who cares what people say!!!!!!!
