god i needed this video. same weather here (toronto) and ive been freezing my ass off! its great that you're using products that aren't necessarily running brands... to avoid that skyhigh pricepoint where you can spend half a grand on a synthetic down jacket. kudos
You all probably dont give a damn but does someone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any tips you can offer me
@Avery Iker thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
18:43 would suggest that wind boxers might be a better option for those really cold days. Helps a lot more than shorts in places a bit north of you (Ottawa), where the weather's already been -25c/-13f + windchill. Great video.
For cold-cold Michigan running my go-to has been Sporthill 3SP fabric pants and top (pass on the gloves though-too thin). They stop the wind and breathe well. Neither cheap nor lightweight, but will last many seasons. Face and feet become the limiting factor.
I been waiting for this video! It's just the beginning of November yet we already have snow and temps of -10C. I've been running on the treadmill but I hate it
I really like the channel. I do feel bad that you're a road runner 😂. Kidding. I would be depressed if I didn't have trails/hills to run daily. Thanks for the info, I'm going to check out the TC and craft items. Bay area weather may not call for these items lol, but why not.
I've definitely found that running in winter does have some wonderful bonuses on the shores of Lake Michigan (or any other large body of water I would have to assume). The sounds of cracking ice when it is frozen over and the views for example. I usually find that on normal winter days I can be very comfortable in a pair of insulated leggings and compression shirt then a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt over the top; after i get that first mile or two in I am up to a good operating temperature and it starts to feel like just another day. However, on the really cold days I will put on a fleece hat and gloves... plus, i tape a disposable hand warmer to the front of my leggings for reasons I don't think i need to mention.... or I throw in the towel and do very repetitive laps around the indoor track at the local high school and with any luck they sometimes have the bleachers out so I can hit the stairs. I will definitely look into the balaclava though for myself and my son that is really getting into running.
Speaking of the feet, that is my biggest issue. Just this morning, my run was going very well. I wore trail runners because we have packed snow on the unplowed roads of the park. Most of it is plowed and salted and the snow roads don't bother me. However, for the first time in my life, I did seriously end up with mild frost bite on all of my toes because I accidentally ran right into an ice covered puddle. The last mile, I slowly couldn't feel my toes. So, I was able to get home after 5 miles (only in trouble the last mile - 9-10 min. from contact w/water to home) and pull shoes, socks off and get into warm water. I could not feel them at all walking on my way to the shower. I am seriously thinking of Gortex treated trail runners. It's no joke! BTW, I love merino wool everything! It has been a game changer for my winter runs. I truly enjoy daily runs, no matter the weather. I would try to budget water resistant/proof or Gortex trail runners. Close call! Happy running. I really enjoyed this video! Subbing to your channel now.
i've been testing a lot of waterproof socks. but weather has been strangely seasonal (i.e. pretty mild) so far. glad you made it back safely. i've been in that position before where my feet have gotten to wet and cold that i debate whether to hoof it out or stop and call for help.
@@kofuzi So I started running in January of 2013. I went year round up until December of 2018. Last winter I switched from outdoor running to indoor cycling with a little bit of swimming at a local high school. This winter, I don't currently have a plan for what I will do for fitness training, if I end up taking the winter just off then it be the first time I do that in my seven years as a runner. I recently moved near Rush Hospital in Chicago, somehow on the transition I actually lost pretty much all of my winter running gear. I kept it all in one box and it's neither in my apartment or my parents house.
I grew up and lived in and around Chicago and was running 100 mile weeks there. I now live in the Rocky Mountains not far from Boulder. Let me tell you the winters here are much more pleasant than Chicago! Over the years I have gravitated to Sport Hill apparel. I am not a spokesman for them. I spend my own money to buy their gear. Their equipment is durable, layerable, and you can get stuff suited to the cold/colder/coldest ranges. Check it out. Enjoy your winter running!
Winter came early and with a vengeance in Montreal! I ran this afternoon and it felt like a February evening! I lost some weight since last winter and I am now feeling the cold more bitterly than I remember.
Great recommendations. Luckily it doesn't get much colder than 0 C (33 F) here in Madrid so I very seldom need to bundle up for extreme weather. Buffs are awesome, I have about 6 all with different materials. Some polar fleeced ones for colder days and some lighter ones for everything in between. I've found the secret is the base layer long sleeve top. I got a couple recently (on sale too!) and I usually just wear them with a t-shirt over and a lighter running sweater on top of that. That's enough to get me through most runs here. Recently splurged on a Gore Wear running jacket which is the most expensive items of clothing I own aside from my winter coat! I haven't had the chance to use it yet which is actually a good thing. It probably won't rain for ages now and it'll just sit in my closet. But I'll be ready when it does. Also bought some Gore Wear gloves and they are really great (a little pricey tho). They keep my hands warm and dry and I can keep them on during my entire run and never feel sweaty and clamy. I had some cheaper Nike gloves that I used for years but even on the coldest days I had to take them off after about 30 mins because my hands would get very hot and sweaty. Plus they never really kept my hands warm. Went from freezing to uncomfortably warm in like 5 mins. Anyway, really appreciate the suggestions, especially the more reasonably priced stuff. Def gonna check out Craft and TCA gear.
Thanks for sharing, I ran last year at about 6 degree F out and my water bottle froze, I don't know if I want to carry a soft flask under a layer or two or what. Also cold kills cell phone batteries. The 17 miles I ran felt like 20, the body has to work harder to stay warm. You definitely called out some gear i want to try, thanks.
Still waiting for winter out here in California. Ran the Ventura Marathon 3 weeks ago and had plenty of warmth and sunshine. Thanks for the quality videos @kofuzi
I havent been running for a while but here in Finland you end up running in the cold quite a while. Good hat and something all the way to your mouth in the beginning to warm up the air a bit. Gloves should be thin as you warm up during the run and it will get too hot. And good socks and shoes. On winter I have a different pair of shoes, Icebugs, and they are essential here. If there is enough snow you can probably manage with "normal" shoes, but when it is ice it is a must. They give you a lot of stability and safety. Seeing your video made me want to start to run again! :) Cheers
Thanks so much for the awesome advice dude! I’m making a move this year from Cen. FL (not cold...) to the Smokies (very cold...), so I need all the help I can get here for this first “cold winter”. I can tell already mittens are gonna be on my list to buy-among other things!😁 Really solid advice at the end there too, about not overdoing it...definitely gonna keep that in mind!
I much prefer the cooler temps for running but you're right in that some days, despite my best efforts, it can just be too cold to run the distance I am targeting. Good review of the cold gear. I agree with you, it sucks that you have to do this video so early in the fall. Lol
Hey, I live in chicago too! Well more specifically the suburbs. I run cross country in high school and its been miserable here. Still running, keep up the training!
Hey, great list. Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying your content! Something you might want to experiment with is wearing Latex (or Nitrile) gloves under your other gloves or mittens. As you can imagine, it traps all the heat and keeps your hands nice and toasty (albeit, very sweaty). These gloves are much cheaper than hand warmers, so you'd be saving a little coin. This was something I learned when I was playing lacrosse in very cold temps, worked really well for me.
Hmmm. I get the concept, hence the compression layers as base layers for the coldest days. But I’d be nervous to go out on a very cold day without hand warmers.
Was 19 degrees F. for my run this morning. Layers is definitely key. Balaclava I use is Nike. It seems to work good unless you wear glasses. Then you're just going to fog up your lenses. Salomon and Nathan both have some good gloves out for different temperatures. I top it all off with a Salomon Bonattie pro jacket. I picked up the clear swimming goggles for when it's not too bright. The wind and freezing Temps on your eyes really suck! Also, Nathan has a really nice thick hat out right now for night time running. It works really well at keeping in that heat and adds visibility for drivers. I usually run with my Salomon skin 12 vest just in case I need to take a layer off and for hydration. Winter running requires plenty of hydration and nutrition. So I usually bring a extra gel and some salt. Hopefully I won't have to pull out the trail shoes for the ice. I hate the cold, but I hate running on treadmills more. Just make sure to get out of those clothes as soon as possible when you get home.
The only thing I don’t like about carrying water is that is gets cold and sometimes freezes, and then you’re literally running with ice packs on your body.
Hands are my weak point too, I sometimes wear a singlet with gloves! Mittens are best but so awkward. Looking for a good glove right now...And checking out the Craft mittens. A fantastic running tight is from Garneau, Very warm and has a bit more structure so you can wear them sans shorts over top :)
I hurt myself running on snow, slush, and ice last year. I found my form on uneven snow/slush/ice was too compromised and left me more prone to injury. I stick to the treadmill now unless the ground is clear outside.
Love your videos generally. But specially love that you actually run in a cold city!! Gets a bit tiring listening to runners talk about cold running only to find out they live in California LOL I have routinely run in temperatures -20 / -30 / -40 Celcius and have moved back to that kind of winter weather this year; 53rd parallel north. I know Chicago is quite capable of reaching those temps at least some times :) What I have not done before is train in those sorts of temps and I'm doing Boston again in the spring, so it should be an interesting build. And I don't do treadmills (there are days I wish I could but I just. can't. do. it! :) ), although 'speed work' will be done on an indoor track. In any event, waterproof (e.g. goretex or shield) so windproof shoes are an absolute must for me, and a pair of shoes with ice spikes for the icy days after a thaw and refreeze. And I wear two pairs of socks, one of them double walled. I also wear gaiters to keep snow out of my shoes. On my hands I wear more than when I ski -- usually a wickable base layer, fleece mittens and a goretex mitten outer shell. No matter what I'm layered with on legs and upper body, the final layer is a windproof shell -- a layer of ice usually forms on the penultimate layer under that wind breaker. Goggles, definitely. THE biggest challenge is mouth and nose coverings. No matter what I use and I have tried a lot of different combinations, ultimately it freezes over enough that getting enough air for the exertion becomes really annoying :) I've tried changing face coverings mid run but in deep freeze temps its just too dangerous to expose a sweaty face and head to those temps, so long runs can get cut short or broken into two parts so I can go home and change face gear. Your caution about monitoring one's self in cold is excellent. I would add to watch for clothing creep that can expose skin by mistake (e.g. a hat rides up and ear lobes get exposed, or ankles where pants and socks stop meeting). That all said, on Sunday I did a run in shorts!!! A week earlier it was minus 18 C. Have fun out there!
I would highly recommend the Nike Snood. It is a soccer product but i have used it in a few long runs for conditioning in early cold morning. You should give it a try.
I used to play soccer, but I quit that since my feet couldn’t take the change in speed so I started running last summer and this summer and... I think you guys are insane!Hahahahaha I work in the city of Chicago and just walking in the winter for 20 min is painful. But... *sigh* running is fun and I’ve seen a lot of improvement in my Cardio so, i might be joining this insane posse
I think winter has arrived earlier everywhere this year. I live in the Uk 🇬🇧 normally it’s very wet but still relatively mild. This year is definitely colder. 🥶.
The local weather forecasters here are saying it’s just temporary and that we’ll be back to seasonal temps soon. Right now though, that seems hard to believe
I totally love your channel! Really like this episode. Would you have one of your club member lady do the same for winter running essential for ladies? 2) I understood that you went back to Apple Watch but, I did not understand what you had as a “second” choice. I found hard to use touch screen during the winter (Boston winter!!!). Thanks!!! Great UA-cam content!!!
Let me reach out and see if anyone can make a women’s version of this video. I was using the Suunto 5 and the Polar Vantage V before I went back to the Apple Watch. I’m back on the vantage v because of buttons. I need to be able to reach them with gloves on.
I have been to chicago a few times. Lovely city. But running must be a nightmare. The cold is a nightmare for me :) I hate it. I usually start sweating and get cold. IHence I go inside for the treadmill. Anyway a good video!
By the way I have to say first how useful this video is thanks. I'm from Stockholm. It gets windy by the ocean here. Is that Lake Superior Chicago? So it's about the same on some days. I also layer up. Biking here in the winter had me out about two hours per day. Going to see how I can learn from that and your video. Hehe your ski goggles were as extreme as my bike goggles for getting to work in the winter. Only *even* bigger. Weren't people laughing at them because I had that effect? :-) I'm starting running outside for Corona. Can't go to gyms. I'm going to reuse most of my biking gear. It has your seal of approval: neck gater in merino wool, same balaclava and inner layer.
Another great video. Many thanks for so many ideas. One question that I have is how do you organize drinking during long winter runs ( about 2 hours) ? Do you carry bottles with you? Or do you place the bottles somewhere? And, what do you drink? Warm beverages ?
Right now, I’m low heart rate training and haven’t found myself needing water for runs up to 2:30. In fact, I find myself urgently needing to pee during a lot of low HR runs. In previous winters, I’d run with a hydration pack. Only problem is that water tends to freeze over time, and then you’re literally running with ice packs on you.
You get a like! I’d like to know you’re opinion of the Pegasus 36 Shield vs Pegasus 36 GTX (Gore-Tex) for running on the road during wet runs. There is very little on UA-cam about the GTX for road running, only a bit for trails.
Good video. When it’s really cold and windy, I wear wind proof underwear that protects the groin area. Also, put some ointment on your nipples to prevent soreness and possible bleeding...btw, how are socks waterproof? Weird
Thanks for the recommendation on the TCA pants. I ran in them yesterday super comfortable and warm. When it gets colder I may layer them with tights. Yesterday in NYC it wasn't brutally cold but it was windy. What do you recommend for an outer layer wind resistant top. I'm contemplating getting an SJD style Salomon wind resistant jacket.
i just picked up a craft jacket, which has been great against cold wind. thanks to targeted ads from running warehouse, i'm also thinking about arcteryx
I think two ESSENTIALS are: if you're running during the day in full sun, you NEED sunglasses as the reflection from the snow and ice will wreak havoc on your eyes. If you're running early or evening, just having some kind of high-visibilty device/clothes if you're running on driving roads. Stay safe and have fun!
I’m bizarre in that I almost never need sun protection. It may have to do with my terrible eyesight and what was once considered potential early onset glaucoma. I sometimes run in sunglasses in the winter just to act as a windshield. It then the glasses get cold and chill the face.
@@kofuzi The sun still causes damage even if you can't really "feel it". I think it's good practice just to put them on in sunny weather even if one's not really used to them. Optometrists would probably agree with me. :P
It’s possible. But I also had a headache at the time and maybe some blurry vision (although that could have been just the effects of the cold on my eyes). A very distinct feeling. It was a bit scary.
Getting surprised by a patch of black ice is like hydroplaning. You just have to ease off the gas, ride it out, and hope for the best. Trying to fight it just makes things worse. Don’t be afraid of falling down. Just try and do it gracefully.
under the jacket, i'll usually wear a long sleeve running shirt - most of mine are from races. I also like eastbay and uniqlo for some cheap options in that category. if it's really cold, i'll wear compression long sleeve under that long sleeve. and then a jacket or hoodie will go on top of that.
once it gets really cold around here, they report the weather in terms of how few minutes it would take to get frostbite on that day. that's when i especially want to get out there to run.
Hey kofuzi, I’m a xc / track runner in 9th grade and I’m looking for some new running shoes. I was thinking of getting a pair for longer road runs, and a faster, tempo run pair of shoes. I’ve been running in the Pegasus turbo 2’s for about 3 months, and I was wondering if anyone has advice on which new shoes to get! Great videos! :)
what's the temperature going to be like where you are going to be putting in these miles? if it's winter and you want to do a lot of outdoor running,. that could change things compared to if you're in the south or the desert
On a second note: do you use any snow/ice spikes? I am getting concerned about running with these condition (my first year) and our weather is comparable with yours. Any suggestions?
I don’t. I’m pretty lucky that this route is plowed and salted for the most part. There are some very sketchy parts, but I can manage without spikes or screws
a bit of both. nike shield apparel is quite good for the winter, and aerolayer is nice but expensive. i generally find (and i've told many nike people this) that Nike apparel often feels like it was designed by runners in Portland for runners in Portland. i do enjoy nike shield shoes quite a bit. they are usually a highlight of the winter for me.
polar vantage v. i sometimes also wear the apple watch at the same time if i don't want to carry my phone. but i can't remember if i was during this run
i'm trying to be more mindful of the need for conversions. although what typically happens is that i then become more vague, describing things as short/medium/long distances rather than miles of kilometers and warm/around freezing/below freezing/or frigid instead of citing temps.
kofuzi the sweet is what I was referring to I’m in Minnesota is nice to have my base layer almost dried and upper layers soaking baselayer is from Walmart not to expensive you doing great job teaching your knowledge thank you
almost a whole hour of content between you and Seth today thank you!
thanks for watching!
Waterproof socks from seal skinz have been my first choice for years. Wind stopper is also pretty darn good for most situations.

The part at the end is very, very true and something to be cautious about. Long runs in the windy cold can really ruin you
Easy to overdo it

The only thing I don’t like about carrying water is that is gets cold and sometimes freezes, and then you’re literally running with ice packs on your body.
@@kofuzi ha, thankfully it doesn't get that cold here in Texas. That would suck.
Thank you so much for the running pants suggestion. I love them but they are normally so expensive
i really love the TCA, but for very cold days, I will definitely wear tights underneath
Hands are my weak point too, I sometimes wear a singlet with gloves! Mittens are best but so awkward. Looking for a good glove right now...And checking out the Craft mittens. A fantastic running tight is from Garneau, Very warm and has a bit more structure so you can wear them sans shorts over top :)
i'm enjoying that more brands are taking that approach to their tights/running pants
I hurt myself running on snow, slush, and ice last year. I found my form on uneven snow/slush/ice was too compromised and left me more prone to injury. I stick to the treadmill now unless the ground is clear outside.
a solid plan. get those miles in!
Get well soon! Very well done 👍 and thoughtful video.
Thanks for watching!
The weather has been crazy. Such wild swings! Stay warm out there!
I would highly recommend the Nike Snood. It is a soccer product but i have used it in a few long runs for conditioning in early cold morning. You should give it a try.
i've looked at that before. i'm can't remember why I never picked one up
It is a great pickup, you wont regret it
I used to play soccer, but I quit that since my feet couldn’t take the change in speed so I started running last summer and this summer and... I think you guys are insane!Hahahahaha I work in the city of Chicago and just walking in the winter for 20 min is painful. But... *sigh* running is fun and I’ve seen a lot of improvement in my Cardio so, i might be joining this insane posse
I have that same buff from road runner and love it! Haven’t been able to find it again
I just picked it up on a random walk through the store several years ago. Such a great option. I should see if they can bring it back.
Can’t wait to get out and run in the rain now !
Stay warm! Stay dry!
Thanks for the TCA recommendation. Was looking for another pair of tights/trou6 for the winter and at £18.99 on Amazon UK it's worth trying them out.
uniqlo also has some very good cheap tights
I swear you are so lucky that you get to experience the cold weather, Hawaii never gets cold lol
if i could only be so unlucky.
jk. i'm finding that i love the cold. it's taken me almost 40 years to realize that
I live in Wisconsin and damn it got cold fast this year! Great video and run warm 👍
Stay warm up there!
Windproof boxers are must have on winter 👍
i've never tried that
At first I thought he was running in heelies lol
I watched 40 seconds and like it already. Awaiting another "sub zero Chicago running" vlog :)
I’m sure we’ll have a couple opportunities at least
I have been to chicago a few times. Lovely city. But running must be a nightmare. The cold is a nightmare for me :) I hate it. I usually start sweating and get cold. IHence I go inside for the treadmill. Anyway a good video!
You might be wearing too many layers when you start. Things should be a bit chilly at the outset
I'm starting running outside for Corona. Can't go to gyms.
I'm going to reuse most of my biking gear. It has your seal of approval: neck gater in merino wool, same balaclava and inner layer.
🏆 Thanks for the tips Brother, going to buy them mittens 😊
i absolutely love them
Slippery ice is a hard no from me ... 😬
Love the videos!
I have a love hate relationship
It’s going to take a bit for me to get to that.
Haha is that your dog joining the video audio towards the end? Sighing and acknowledging in background. :-)
It could be. I’m not sure. A couple of different little ones were stirring this morning.
I need something for black ice. Thinking of IceBug shoes but afraid of those studs.. 😂
I’ve heard of people screwing screws into their shoes. That seems extreme for me
FI!NA!LLY! The winter essential here arrives!
I hope it doesn’t disappoint
9:40 I saw someone doing that today when going to the gym to run on the treadmill lol.
It’s a lot of fun
F n Maff! Ahahaahah!
So good Michael. We get you.
; )
I am slowly but grumpily succumbing to this new approach
Great ideas. Thank you!
Our winters are nowhere near as bad as yours but it's snowing here in the valleys in South Wales UK at the moment
the nice thing about winters here is that it is usually just cold or just snowy. cold rain or slushy conditions are difficult for me.
Very helpful info. Thanks so much.
Helpful information. But cotton socks for all that water you run in? Cotton holds water. Why not a more technical sock?
Technical socks are expensive. And I don’t run in water so much once it gets reeeeaally cold. At that point, I switch over to sliding on ice
Good video. When it’s really cold and windy, I wear wind proof underwear that protects the groin area. Also, put some ointment on your nipples to prevent soreness and possible bleeding...btw, how are socks waterproof? Weird
Great gear, sucks that its mostly amazon though.
You are scaring me with the sliding!! I would have busted my behind
Scary AF
sliding on ice is my winter running through water
Thanks for the recommendation on the TCA pants. I ran in them yesterday super comfortable and warm. When it gets colder I may layer them with tights.
Yesterday in NYC it wasn't brutally cold but it was windy. What do you recommend for an outer layer wind resistant top. I'm contemplating getting an SJD style Salomon wind resistant jacket.
i just picked up a craft jacket, which has been great against cold wind. thanks to targeted ads from running warehouse, i'm also thinking about arcteryx
"Farting face mask" ha! that tickled me!
It kind of tickled me too
@@kofuzi it also tickled me 😔
How to run on black ice or avoid it on sidewalks?
I tried to run with a hat/beanie the other day, but I kinda felt claustrophobic with it. Like I couldn’t breath and couldn’t get rid of the heat.
what do you normally run with in the winter?
On my head? Nothing at all. I’m not sure a hat is for me, even when it’s cold :)
would you recommend a headlamp?
Also smart wool hats are worth the money
Luke Ng Hey Luke check out the Petzl Nao + headlamp, it’s pricey but the last one you will ever buy with lots of options...
headlamps are great. many people run with them along the lakefront. i usually don't, even though I think I probably should
I've heard that we actually need more fluid intake during winter activities than we think. Do you think your buzzed feeling was a hydration issue?
It’s possible. But I also had a headache at the time and maybe some blurry vision (although that could have been just the effects of the cold on my eyes). A very distinct feeling. It was a bit scary.
Weird idea but what do you think about rubbing on capsaicin topical cream (for muscle aches) on the arms and legs and core?
Hot sauce?
As usual, another great video. Thank you! How do you keep from slipping/injuring yourself on ice when running in the winter?
Getting surprised by a patch of black ice is like hydroplaning. You just have to ease off the gas, ride it out, and hope for the best. Trying to fight it just makes things worse. Don’t be afraid of falling down. Just try and do it gracefully.
Do you have links for the gaiters or buffs?
Did you skip the base layer top? Any recommendations for the tech layers under the jacket?
under the jacket, i'll usually wear a long sleeve running shirt - most of mine are from races. I also like eastbay and uniqlo for some cheap options in that category.
if it's really cold, i'll wear compression long sleeve under that long sleeve. and then a jacket or hoodie will go on top of that.
If i watch the news and they say you can get frostbite, i aint gonna go outside and run lol.
once it gets really cold around here, they report the weather in terms of how few minutes it would take to get frostbite on that day.
that's when i especially want to get out there to run.
Is it best to have a moderate stride in the cold so that you don't increase body heat loss?
i've never thought about that
Hey kofuzi, I’m a xc / track runner in 9th grade and I’m looking for some new running shoes. I was thinking of getting a pair for longer road runs, and a faster, tempo run pair of shoes. I’ve been running in the Pegasus turbo 2’s for about 3 months, and I was wondering if anyone has advice on which new shoes to get! Great videos! :)
what's the temperature going to be like where you are going to be putting in these miles? if it's winter and you want to do a lot of outdoor running,. that could change things compared to if you're in the south or the desert
kofuzi it is in the 30’s and 40’s (Fahrenheit), and I live in Texas. It has been raining some of the time.
Is there a temperature that you consider too cold? My threshold temp is probably in the upper 50's. Below that I'm on the treadmill.
i ran last year in -3F. that was pretty cold.
If you slide into the lake you must put that in a video.
Have you ever done that?
No. I hope never to fall in. I respect that lake. And I know it’s trying to eat me.
HAHAHAHA @ "farting face mask". Hilarious!!
it happens to the best of us
Great video.. odered a pair of tca pants! Price to go to not try them.
i hope you enjoy!
How do you record your runs? As I your camera is always ahead of you while running.
360 camera
Which camera he is recording when running?
For the TCA run pants, do you have any sizing suggestions? Reviews on Amazon tend to say they run small/tight.
I have a pair they run a little big. I may buy another pair and size down.
i wear a size M in most pants and I went with M. I feel like perhaps some customers didn't realize these pants would be a runner's cut.
@@kofuzi I order the large and they fit fine (slightly short on legs, but I'm 6'3"). I like the fitted style and the price is right!
Why do you run through water????
Thanks, very helpful!
Thanks for watching!
Could someone explain what winter is to me?
Noticed no Nike products in this. Was this due to your current stance on Nike? Or just don’t really use Nike products that much in winter?
a bit of both. nike shield apparel is quite good for the winter, and aerolayer is nice but expensive. i generally find (and i've told many nike people this) that Nike apparel often feels like it was designed by runners in Portland for runners in Portland.
i do enjoy nike shield shoes quite a bit. they are usually a highlight of the winter for me.
It’s cooling off down here in Florida, I woke up to 64 degrees...brrrrr! 😆 it takes discipline to run up North!
Which watch are you wearing in the video?
polar vantage v. i sometimes also wear the apple watch at the same time if i don't want to carry my phone. but i can't remember if i was during this run
kofuzi thanks, great looking watch.
Great videos, could be a good idea to ad metrics use un Latin america, some times is kind of weird understand F, miles and make convertions.
i'm trying to be more mindful of the need for conversions. although what typically happens is that i then become more vague, describing things as short/medium/long distances rather than miles of kilometers and warm/around freezing/below freezing/or frigid instead of citing temps.
Can you give a link to the jacket you're wearing at 3:20? Looks mf clean
Hmm. I don’t think it’s available anymore. But it’s Uniqlo. I got it ahead of my Ragnar Tetons trip last July or August
Awesome
WGN news chicago finest.
i watch every day
Waiting for the treadmill reveal!!
It’s just a treadmill in my building. It’s hard to film in a treadmill, and the room is small
I don’t recommend waterproof anything while running In winter you want water away from you skin o you will freeze you toes
if it's waterproof, it keeps water away from your skin. that's kind of exactly the point.
kofuzi the sweet is what I was referring to I’m in Minnesota is nice to have my base layer almost dried and upper layers soaking baselayer is from Walmart not to expensive you doing great job teaching your knowledge thank you
Thank God we don't have winter here.
it's not so bad. it just lasts a bit too long
Chiraq weather ain't no joke ☠
agreed
