Bro a more efficient use of space would be to push the couch closer to the wall and move the dining table under the window... It would look much nicer and your plant (if real) would love you for it... You were recommended by UA-cam 😊

But I'm glad you are happy there.

I feel like it's super helpful especially because it can help motivate so many people. I moved to NY from NC a year ago to study acting. The crappy part is that you must meet the x40 monthly rent for your salary. And choosing to live in or closer to the city is even worse: you pay more for less. I choose south Brooklyn, my commute into the city is a little longer but I got more for my money: $1900 a month and it’s quieter, no tourists. It’s absolutely not worth paying extra for parking.

Did you move from Durham? I heard gentrification has occurred in my native Durham, North Carolina and the rents are sky high. I've been living in New York City since 1973. I lived with a great aunt in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. I later moved to the upper Westside in Manhattan in 1979. I have been living in the same large 2 bedroom rent control building with a fire place for 45 years. 😁I will be here until God calls me on to glory and they take my remains to Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York.

My good friend just got apartment yesterday after a fire from his neighbor on mother's day this year. He's literally starting from scratch but if you think your apartment is tight his is literally a kitchen and bathroom..smh. oh we're in Brooklyn and it seems Bk is trying to be like Manhattan when it comes to space and rent.. Congratulations to you and enjoy your space

  • @shadowess1961

Broker's fees are criminal. Years ago the landlord used to pay the broker's fee because by law, if you go to a broker to help you find an apartment then yes, you should pay them but if an apartment is being advertised then the landlord should pay that fee. There was a court case in 2020 and the law changed but it's being challenged. It is a scam since the broker does nothing but stand there after you looked for the apartment.

I thought that the high cost of living in New York is partially offset by lower transportation costs. Why do you own a car instead of renting one as needed for out of town travel? Something you left out: your car payment and auto insurance. I appreciate knowing about the cost of living in NYC. For the life of me, why New York? Of course, there are a million things to do but if you live there do you enjoy the same amenities that are so abundant? How often do you go to the opera? Or to see shows in a Broadway theatre? Or go to a jazz club? New York is the fashion capital of the nation. You have one or two tiny closets. I live alone in a 930 square foot home and I have a basement with a chest freezer, a washer and dryer and a bath with a shower instead of a tub. I also have a two car garage. I’m going to subscribe just so I can see what’s what. I can’t wait until you re-decorate like something I read about in Architectural Digest.
