THIS. This approach to planning a thru hike is the first video I've ever seen on what goes into preparing for a hike--Prior to the actual Prep--and I've not seen many (if any) show their process. Thank you! I'm doing a lot of these details already, but it's not always very intuitive. Your video validates so much of what goes into our preparations. So glad I Subscribed and Rang that Bell a while back.
Sounds like a fantastic trip. I’m jealous! I spend many many days hiking, camping, and fishing in the Mark Twain Forest area. I just finished a guided trout fishing trip there this past weekend. Super gorgeous.? If you can check out “Big Spring “. Safe travels my friend and welcome to Missouri!
Thanks for another informative video! I have thought of making a similar trip after retirement in a few years. I have hiked a couple of sections of the OT in summer and the heat+humidity can be brutal. Is there any possibility of you sharing or publishing your map PDF and spreadsheet? I hope you have a great time.
Great video! I've been eyeballing the Ozark trail for years and plan to spend a night or two on the trail in April with a friend. Oh wow! I didn't realize that resupply was such a challenge on the Ozark trail. Looking forward to see your through hike!
Look forward to following this hike. Always on my possible list so sure to learn a lot. Wish I could join you. I’m a midwest backpacker too but never hiked this one. Good luck.
Looks like you’re well prepared and then some. Look forward to seeing your trip videos. I’ve been to and through Van Buren many times. A 3 mile road walk on that busy highway would not be enjoyable.
I wonder if some thru-hike locations have places in town where you can safely lock up your car behind a fence. Like a car dealer, garage, or something. I'd pay for that... as well if they helped shuttle me. But I suppose I could get an Uber/cab.

Very helpful video explaining not just that you planned but how. I appreciate it! This will be very helpful for planning my own OT thru hike.
You are quite the planner Jeremy!
Can't wait for the videos!

Spring is tick season in MO.
Be prepared to deal with them
Good Luck!

Have Fun
I think farout has is now?
Could you share your hike planning sheet? I’m doing it this winter and would love to use yours as a starting point
Sure. I need your email.
Do you know the estimated total elevation change on your route? Looks hilly.
I do not. Compared to other trails I have done it wasn’t too hilly.

I paid for a place to safely park while in Colorado.
