4:39 the coolant lid shouldn't be screwed down tight. It simply clicks into position (horizontal along the top). If you remove the coolant lid the plastic lugs underneath will have been bent/snapped and there's a risk the plastic reservoir tube underneath has been deformed and the seal compromised. From the second half of 2019 version E of the coolant lid has the plastic lugs reinforced to prevent them being broken so easily.
I have this but the error is on the diagnostics computer not on the dash (Vacuum System Fine Leak - Cooling System Fault) 🤔 so thinking I need a new water pump. Porsche are quoting £1500 (£350 parts and 5 hours labour) to replace water pump and £320 diagnostics to make sure it’s nothing else, crazy.
Wondering if the customer saw coolant on ground or was the coolant burnt off leaving levels low each time it was checked?I’ve got mysterious leak that can’t be found. Always thought it might be coming from top of engine.
I have a 718. After speaking with a tech, he told me the most common issue is the water pump/ vacuum lines. Apparently, a lot of mechanisms are connected to the vacuum system. Other than that, the 718 is a great car.
Common on 2016-2018 cars. Several redesigns have reduced the coolant leak issues on later cars. On the very early cars the actual reservoir plastic tank could leak. Replacing this requires dropping the engine for access!
greetings, I have replaced my water pump and I was curious to know what other O rings/pipes/systems you replaced that you didn't mention... can you ellaborate on what else you replaced? I replaced my water pump and thermostat, but I am still topping off my coolant 2 days later, I can't help but feel it's either purging all the air out or It's still leaking. no drip, no pooling, dry garage floor. Help please! I can't seem to find that part that you mentioned the "coolant pump solenoid"
I'm in the middle of replacing my water pump on my Cayman S, and from what I have learned you need a PWIS to open up the a few of the coolant valves during the bleeding procedure. If you didn't do that, it's likely to still have air in the system. Good luck.

Fairly recent model to have this type of damage… is it a frequent issue for 718 models?
Looking likely to be common as we've seen a few now

@@Resist_Oppression Thank you for the information. I have a 718 GTS 4.0 and yes, it is quite a great car!
