Most people don't understand that this man is truly a genius. I mean, he seriously is out of this world talented. listen to State of the Art if you think I'm joking or lying.
A shining example of someone who does it for for the love of music. Called it a wrap after putting out 2 stellar albums and was on top of the music scene. This man is a musical legend in my eyes.
You probably dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my account password. I would love any help you can give me!
I would kill for a Lowrey D575... had a genie88 once.. sadly it had dead keys so it got scrapped for components and the wood turned in to an electronics bench ;)
I would pay $8 to see this documentary in a movie theater. It has more substance than a $300 million budgeted movie. So amazing to see how the music is made. Very inspirational.
Wouter, if you're reading this, I want you to know that you've inspired me so much, helped me so much, and connected with my soul so so much. I always cry when I listen to your music. I make music on my own as well. Your sincerity, honesty, passion for music and creativity are basically changing my world. I really want you to know how deeply emotional the words I say are right now. Thank YOU! :) huge fan.
Probably the most slept on piece of media he's ever made. Making mirrors contained his world hit song, and the rest of the album is so carefully crafted; only a piece of which is shown here. It's brilliant. I hope he finds the inspiration to write again someday.
Most pop stars just sing, some play a instrument or two and a few write their own music and handle the arrangement of it. You are a true musician and musical artist. I was fascinated by how you create the sounds that make up your music and loved how you used your dad's art to create your album cover. What a wonderful tribute! I look forward to seeing where you go from here and hearing how you evolve. May you have a long and successful career in music!
This man put so much time, thought, effort, and creativity into his work and society had the audacity to classify him as a one hit wonder. Its not fair that the artists that don’t sell out always fall into obscurity for not doing so. Wally will always be considered a hero and a legend in my eyes and has made such an impact on my life.
Wow. Just wow. He's an absolute musical genius. I love how he uses so many diferrent instruments & sounds to create his musical masterpieces, & the fact that he takes inspiration from things like the organ to write his music.
As a DIY recording artist I truly look up to this guy. He revolutionized the way we think about DIY and its possibilities through the making of this album.
Making Mirrors may be the most singularly listened to album of my teens and this is the first time I've seen this. It's a great shame in a way because that album was a huge part of me youth. I carried it in the back of my mind the whole time as I discovered my own desire to make music and I wish I had the opportunity to witness an abstraction of the creative process that lead to something I admire so much. I understand that this project is mostly over as it's been years but I really hope to see and most importantly hear more. Thank you for your immense creativity and how much you've shared it with us. I'm getting to a point where I may not be able to reach my creative goals but seeing this now has considerably inspired me to try so much harder. Thank you Wally.
Omg! you have an incredible talent and i love your music ❤❤💙💛💛 I think is because you transmit your passion through the music .. greetings from Costa Rica !
I hadn't heard of Gotye till I saw an advert for Making Mirrors. Then I bought it, listened to it, and got myself the prior 2 albums and the mix album. I have massive respect for you and your talent, I wish more of your work receives the recognition it deserves.
Opinion: Gotye’s three studio albums should deserve to be included, or at least considered on the best albums of the 21st century, and maybe of all time.
The true genius just shows and shines through your heart and soul Wally that’s what makes you such a talented musician.. my heartbeat doubles every time I hear your voice and ur music ❤️ #Gotye
ive never seen someone be so honest about themselves and their music. if i was a musician i would be glad to know this guy was around to inspire me and others
As an electronic musician and aspiring sound designer, I have so much respect for everything Gotye is doing here and that it's essentially exactly the way us bedroom musicians work. Just us sitting in our rooms, sampling away, making something very personal to us, occasionally involving others for human interaction. Much respect to you and your craft Gotye.
Fantastic insight to how creative a musician Wally is. I love this album and its stuck with me over the years and thanks to this documentary I can see what went into the making of Making Mirrors.
His music is like a collage of old records, paintings, so many different instruments, his own creativity, skill, hard work and time, his gorgeous voice, friends help, and it amounts to such picturesque and overwhelming masterpieces of eargasm after eargasm n.n!!! Gotye lives in my
I'm totally in awe of your ability to make sound into new music. I'm old, also a musician and composer. My son had an expertise in creating sound into music and he was sooo talented. He died in 2014 at the age of 25 in his prime of creativity. He inspired me greatly and definitely so do you inspire me even still now at my age of 70. Keep up your vast talents and never doubt your love of music. Thankyou Gotye, Rosy
Wally- I know you won't see this, but I just have to tell you how inspiring and comforting Making Mirrors is to me. I started listening to it a week ago and haven't been able to stop since. I literally enjoy and appreciate every single song. Down to the beautiful vocals, the relatable lyrics, to the many layers of unique and hypnotic melodies. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this documentary and the other one on Eyes Wide Open. Thank you for sharing your process and talent with the world.
This is a tutorial to how to make music to hold on to. Thank you wally Andre for all the songs that made me rise up and smile again. Please don't stop making music!
@@mrxhema1 Yeah, heard some of their songs but its just not the same. The music vibe and the voice of him on Gotye is very different than The Basics. Though there are some songs on The Basics that are really good too. Just miss Gotye type of music.
What an inspiring documentary! Now THIS is how you make music, people! I definitely will always be a fan of your work, Gotye! Keep up the great job! :)
This is one of the most amazing videos i have ever watched !!! You are such an inspiration to me. I love how you make everything yourself or make it your own and don't rely on other people too do all the work for you! You are so different to anybody else out there and your music is so unique! every time i listen to a piece of your music its as if i am listening to a story not a song! keep making amazing music...PLEASE!
Enkelingen kregen per toeval de mogelijkheid om er een "beroep" van te maken. talented and hard working artists are the best, its easy having 6 different producers and 10 other dudes for this and that, and another guy writing lyrics for you, its good to know we still have real artists these days
Yay for home recording! We record all our own stuff too, it just leaves so much more time to creating unique sounds! I'm so happy that mainstream music is starting to catch up with such brilliant artists!
This documentary made me chuckle and feel nostalgic for the days when my husband ran a recording studio out of a big barn much like yours. I've missed witnessing the creative process; the beginning experimentation that makes you wonder what the hell the artist is thinking of, to the end when the madness turns into magic. I loved it all, and the memories made me enjoy this documentary so much more.
It has been 7 years I come back to your making videos every time I feel stuck and try to get out of there. This is such a masterpiece video. I seriously appreciate for releasing your wonderful works! (I found a stuffed animal from the Japanese TV "MEZAMASHI TV" at the back of the room)
The bit about using a piece of art from his dad made me smile. How very sweet. This was quite fascinating to watch. I'm always amazed when I watch things like this and see the effort and time put in, figuring out how to make everything sound good. Gives me a whole new level of appreciation for what he's doing. Also, that Op Shop looks COOL and I want to go there. His passion and love for music (and art!) is something I can easily relate to and is one of the things I like most about him.
From watching this video, along with all your other videos, it's clear to me that Gotye simply loves what he does. He loves music and loves to create it. He does things his way, follows his dream, doesn't try to sound like anyone else. That is why he is successful now. It was just a matter of time before the rest of the world noticed. Thank you for following your dream Gotye and giving us great music.
This is a very beautiful, charming little documentary. It's like... I experience a lot of minimalism when watching and listening to your sound bytes.
