I'm in New York capturing some street photography with my FUJIFILM X-E1 - hope you enjoy the film and the black and white photographs this camera produces.
Hey Chris, just bought myself an X-E1 as I was after a ‘cheapish’, smallish second camera… Anyway, just wanted to comment as I’ve just watched your latest vid on why YTers switch! Basically this is a solidarity post - I also love switching cameras and systems. I sometimes think I might be more addicted to buying and selling cameras than taking actual pictures. Since taking up photography in 2016 I’ve bought and sold almost 30. I think thats weird but I don’t care. No doubt the X-E1 will get flipped out… If I’d known this was going to happen eight years ago I would have started a channel 😊Keep up the top content.
Two things in photography that are certain... 1. All modern cameras are 'good enough' 2. A camera that inspires you to shoot will give you better results.
It's great to see your love affair rekindled with Fujifilm Chris. As a keen X-E3 shooter, my two favourite accessories for the X-E3 are the fujifilm leather half case and a wrist strap. The half case adds a little more grip and cushions the base on hard surfaces. The wrist stap automatically puts your camera in your shooting hand. Lens wise, I shoot mainly with the 27mm f2.8 WR & 23mm f2 . The 18-55 kit lens is also a great walk about lens for street photography. My Fujifilm investment is considerable, lenses 10-24 though to 100-400, plus bodies. The X-E3 & 23mm would be my choice if I was only allowed one camera body and one lens.
Looks like a great trip Chris. I sold all my Fuji gear except my black X-E1…..i will never part with it ,gives me the most simple pleasure shooting , I seem to compose better with it ,I slow down and smile a lot …..probably look like I right idiot but I’m bothered …it’s a joy!!😊 Thanks for the reminder. All the best.
Cool shots! NYC is definitely a street photography mecca. Hope you're weathering out little heat wave this week. It's going to be over 100 F with the heat today(Monday) in Lehigh Valley, PA. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!! Thanks for taking us along, have a rockin' day!
Besides my X-E1 I have 36mp full frame and 26mp and I can say that much of the time 16mp is enough. Definitely enough for social media. I like the control layout better than the X-E4 with the buttons on the left. So so much better. Only gripe is the focus peaking highlights for manual lenses is difficult to see
That’s why NYC is the City that never sleeps. Your b/w photos are fabulous. Take a look at b/w architectural photos of NYC from the 1960s and you’ll see how reminiscent of these your shots are. Really enjoyed this video.
Great shots! Always enjoy black and white photos. I’ve been to NYC once, but unfortunately didn’t discover my love for photography until later. Might have to brush up on street photography and put it on my travel list.
you and your crazy camera journeys :P, my fuji journey is ending up on a XM1, though i dont have it yet, i only got the xe1 and xa1, but gravitating twards the xa1 because of the size
X-M1 is really nice for street photography. Tiny and the tilt screen lets you shoot from the waist easily. Regret selling mine. Hope you enjoy yours when you get it!
This has given me the right kick in arse to pull my XE1 out of my camera bag. To use Fuji lenses plus use my Olympus OM lenses now my OM2 has bitten dust. Maungaturoto, New Zealand.
NYC at night with the twinkly lights is also a perfect time to propose to your favourite camera system! (If only the better half new of my first love, I'm pretty sure she already knows it though... Plenty of nights spent in the dog house with ZERO twinkly lights due to it. A 3 way love triangle btwn her, Fujifilm and Mamiya can get me into trouble especially on ALL our travels together
I did the same, whet from XT5 to the Z7 and Z8. Sold both after a year and when back to Fuji then realised how much I missed the Fuji files etc. I found with modern cameras that they are getting complicated or should I say more complicated. I have the x100vi on order but I see Leica are bringing out the d-lux 8 and I am tempted by the lack of buttons and its simplicity. Great vlog.
Nice - funny how we end up coming back to a brand that basically was inspired by Leica, but isn’t Leica. I even sold my Leica cameras to go back again… 🤔

I'm glad that you are back to the "FUN" camera system.. 😁✌😜
Thanks - so fun 🤩

That sensor and how it handles B&W is why I have a couple of X-Pro1 bodies. Mine are each set up with 7 custom B&W recipes.
B&W and adapting vintage lenses are why my X-E1 will never leave my kit.

This is the way
True!!

The images from the X-E1, especially for BW are astonishing. There’s a texture that you just can’t find anywhere else

Thanks - it’s way too hot for my English body 🤣 really fun to be here though 👏

Wow, thanks! I absolutely loved capturing NY. Sad to have left now…
The X-E1 was my first Fujifilm X camera after I fell in love with the X-20. And I'm glad I still have it.
Great captures! Thanks for sharing. Eager to hear more about your "There and Back Again"-story with Fujifilm 🙂
Thanks - I’ll make that soon 👏
Love to see how excited you are. Great shots.
Thanks! Love this little camera 📷
Love this 🎉 beautiful black & white shots!
Thanks!
Thanks for this - New York looks fantastic!
Pleasure! 😄
Awesome captures! Indeed, that camera has aged amazingly well. Have fun in NYC :D
Thanks! It’s so fun 🤩

Thanks! Yeah, you really should consider it. It’s so fun to capture street photos here.
Welcome to NYC. My brother, pray and hope you have a lot of fun taking photos
Thank you, I loved it!
This camera is fun and stylish, and if you have a focusing tab on the lens, it can be operated with one hand quite well
Yeah, that’s true!
you and your crazy camera journeys :P, my fuji journey is ending up on a XM1, though i dont have it yet, i only got the xe1 and xa1, but gravitating twards the xa1 because of the size
I know - it’s all a bit crazy but I really enjoy the journey 👏

@@B9scrambler yah, the tilt screen, thats what gets me
Would you mind making a video on all the settings you use? As well as any other tips when using the camera? Thank you!!
Great video! What jpeg recipe are you using? I want to start exploring black & white with my X-E1.
Really loving these real grainy and gritty suits New York 👌👌
Thanks - gritty and grainy BW shots are so appealing 👏

Cool - use the X-E1 as it’s a fab little camera!
Thanks for the video, does the screen on this camera allow you to focus? Is it bad enough?

Haha!! 😂😂😂
Hi Chris, would you mind sharing the BW recipe/settings you used? I have an X-E1 as well and these photos look fantastic.
Sure thing - I’ll make a video about it shortly
My main camera is an XT5 but after watching this I've ordered an XE1 to use as a "carry around" camera. Will wait to see if I made the right decision.
Amazing - I love my X-E1
Njoy
Thanks!
A vicious circle
Still like the original x100 with 12mp Bayer sensor. Simple and slow, but stunning photos.
Such a lovely little camera that one
What is next?
Who knows? More Fujifilm…
Wow is the first time I see you with a camera strap.😅
Haha! I have a few now 😀
You mean a Leica doesn't quite cut it..? Fujifilm is all the camera you'd ever need.
