Your cilantro is GORGEOUS.
a cool trick for making the best potting mix is to use any potting mix of your choice with some compost or cow maure and take like 20 eggshells and crush them in to a fine powder with a rock or coffee grinder and mix it in to your soil . TIP: 2 half eggshells or 1 complete egg for a 0.25 gallon pot mix it in nicely and you have got the best soil ever

i am in Canada. My cilantro bolts in our hot humid summers so this video gives me hope.
I swear I did not expect this great of a crop in the heat since I was new to SoCal. but it worked! Give it the best soil, lots of water, some late day shade and LOTS of seeds and I bet you'll get it rolling. I did eventually bolt but I got to eat a lot of it first. :)

You are right!! Puerto Rico, not too sure what season but there always on peoples backyards and it’s hot weather during the day.

Sheryl!!! I miss your winter sowing videos with all your jugs and your growing tubs lol. Cilantro is one herb that is very stingy with its production hahahaha. I get the slo bolt from the MIGardener every year. Nice to see your content popping up :)

WOW! I love cilantro!
I really enjoy your videos and was hoping to see more on winter sowing in the desert climate. I learned a lot from your videos but they mainly pertain to cold weather climates. I really hope you create some new content for the warmer area as we are approaching winter. Also, only 30% of my winter sowing grew from seed in which I was grateful. I think it is due to the warmer climate.
no use for cilantro! but, i just want to say thank you for your videos on winter sowing in cold weather!!! i discovered your early videos in mid january and i made sooo many mistakes with too many plants and lots of wrong season ones. such a garden dummy i am, but i have had the most enjoyable locked down summer this year with gardening, would have been bored to death if not for this new hobby! arthritis is a main issue, but playing outside all summer has made a huge difference. am currently working on sowing a raised bed of brassicas, and also making my plan for starting my winter sowing again, maybe late january next time. thank you so much!!! zone 7b
so nice to hear from you and thanks for your kind comments. I will be doing a lot more WS and other food growing videos now. I took most of last year off diving into the world of fruit trees. Papalo does GREAT in the heat. I started growing Papalo instead of cilantro in the summer because Cilantro was too finicky. It's as good or better than cilantro imo.
How do you grow in Hot temperatures, please guide, where do you keep tubs? You just said we can grow , please provide more details
There is tons of vids on YT of people from India showing how to grow that stuff, most of them are only wearing T-Shirts and it's clearly very warm where they are... So who could ever get the idea this won't grow in warm climates? :-D
I like growing cilantro in Alaska. But I can't eat it - tastes like soap. But my hubby likes it.

How much sun do you let them get during the hot times?
morning and all day sun and then they get some shade late day as the sun moves around.
ive been trying to grow coirandeer in Australian heat for years.

Have you tried the Winter Sowing method to grow seedlings inside the jugs? It makes a moist warm greenhouse environment inside to help germinate the seeds. Also timing is everything with cilantro. Do you have a cooler season? Would grow best in that season. Good luck and keep trying!! :)
Does it want direct sun too? Mine didn't make it because the heat of the sun killed them, I only had a couple plants to try it, Baker creek had sent me some free seeds for it but I don't know what variety, I really didn't care for the herb but the seeds taste like they might be good to use as a spice to cook with. Did you cut your seeds in half? Thanks Sheryl.
a guy who runs a nursery told me that he puts 3-4 seeds in a pint container and that makes his nice saleable cilantro crop. he also said they tend to like heat to germinate. but i've also found cilantro bolts so quickly...even cutting the tops regularly, it's still tough for me to get much before it's done...maybe i'll look for that slow bolt type
I've NEVER been successful at this - the seeds don't even germinate!! I'm literally green with envy 🤣🤣
Lots of water will help. you can also try the Winter Sowing method and grow your cilantro seedlings in the free milk jugs. The jug makes a nice warm moist greenhouse environment and will go better seedlings of all types.

Please shear/cut your cilantro.
Ripping off a bunch, while convenient, damages the cellular structure enough to retard new growth.

Were you able to grow it in the humid Florida heat during warm seasons? I’m in Florida, too. I’ve been to south CA in the middle of summer and I can tell you, CA just doesn’t get anywhere near as hot and humid as Florida does. CA is a temperate growing zone, that’s why so much is grown there. Florida is a whole different animal. 🥵

@@JuicingGardener I have done my own thinking my entire life. Whenever there is a controversy, I hear the arguments on both sides, and generally end up holding a position that gets both sides mad at me. LOL But, at least I know how to grow food! LOL

It’s the bugs in fl that kill it then the heat come August
boy I've been lucky then. I have never once had a bug eat my cilantro, either in Ohio or SoCal!
