Thank you for doing that for my son. He loved it. So a little more info on the tornado he saw. It happened in a completely unwarned storm. It was not severe or tornado warned. I did discuss the tornado with the NWS and they determined it was a cold core tornado. I am 48 and have never seen a tornado in my life. He is 14 and he saw his first one from our front porch.
Not an everyday event no matter how severe , type or class. Well done to your son' and yourself for taking the time to do something for the kids thats really cool and should be celebrated 😊
I'd say the same family of materials rather than the same material (those crystal sizes can make a difference in physical properties), but similar stuff regardless.
You should put all you African volcano videos into a playlist, I would love to watch them all. I’ve been looking on Google earth of all the volcanics that’s happened in Africa and it looks like so much
Thank you for that interesting video. I was told by my Geography teacher in high school about the Magma outpouring that created much of the Drakensburg Mountains and Lesotho. Regards from South Africa
I would love to witness a tornado one day, I enjoy severe weather. I would even say Earthquakes are a form of weather and I loved the 7.2 Ridgecrest quake in 2019.
On the topic of flood basalts, could you cover the Great Ontong-Java province? I'm really curious how that affected early Cretaceous marine ecosystems.
The country you are referring to: Lesotho - just for the record you don't use the 'th' sound. You use the 't' sound only. It would be more accurate to say it the way this is written: Lesutu
Congratulations for a firts tornado!?? Ok send me congratulations when I see my first plinian or ultraplinian eruption here in Mexico ... Popocatepetl and Colima probably
What would you classify it as. Your having a mediocre day arnt you? Even meteorological experts classify Tornadoes as extreme weather events. You go stand in the middle of one and see if you still feel like your having a mediocre day! LoL😅 ⛈️⚡🌪️🌪️🌪️⚡⛈️

Well done 👍
I'm 41 in Kansas, saw my first one last year and managed to get a video! I was at work so I technically got paid to film it. So cool!
@@edwardskerl5774 it sounds like you had fun.
Kudos to your son - a budding stormchaser? 😊
Hope he sees loads more tornadoes, or volcanoes, or whatever - but safely! 0:02

Gabbro, Diabase and Basalt - all the same material. I learns something everyday here.
True!
I'm happy to be able to pronounce 'BAYsalt' correctly now.

Everyday’s a school day with GeologyHub…

I really like your stop motion animation of how the Valley of Desolation was formed. Cool stuff as always!!👍
When is your next video?
Thank you for that interesting video. I was told by my Geography teacher in high school about the Magma outpouring that created much of the Drakensburg Mountains and Lesotho.
Regards from South Africa
Fascinating as always. Thank you for your knowledge and presentation skills.
Thanks geology hub and to my dad I really appreciate it! My dad watches your videos all the time lol.
🎉good one mate! ✌️🇦🇺🌋⛈️🌪️⛈️
Fascinating video. Thank you.
Congrats, Tristan!!🎉🎉🎉
Never cease to amaze @Geologyhub 🌋
Thanks. These pillars are surreal!
This formation looks similar to the formation in Chiricahua national monument in Arizona, but from a different volcanic event.
👍👍👍 Fascinating stuff!!

Closest I ever got was a dust devil two weeks ago on a building site next door. I thought that was amazing :)
I'd love to witness a bigger quake one day as well!

How does lava maintain its heat to flow 500 miles? Or did I misunderstand what you said?
Firstly it's 500 kilometers or 300 miles.
Secondly these flows had a high discharge rate, volume and thickness.
@@sigisoltau6073 Still… that’s a loooong way to maintain heat and flow.
@@sigisoltau6073oh well nature is amazing at all costs
There are similar but less prominent looking rock landscapes NW of Fillmore, California. I wonder if they were formed in a similar way.
I love the size comparison to Cyprus....
Hmmmm... looks like it could be a fun place to rock climb
Looks a lot like the mountains in Lost Dutchman State Park near Phoenix, Arizona
South Africa does have an active volcano on Marion Island.

Geologic History of Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods? Pikes Peak is also in this area.
It's pronounced Le-soo-too, not Le-so-tho. Apart from that, though, excellent video.
The gabbro looked a lot like a meteorite claimed to be primordial from the beginning of the solar system.
Albion Zodiac 🤔
It looks like massive buildings
A destroyed old world

Sounds like a dark souls area
I would not classify a tornado as an extreme weather event.

I wish I could watch this but the narrator is terrible.
