    In this video, I took a 2016 Newport, and had a ton of custom work done to it. I love the look of Scotties Tour putters, but dropping $1000s on a putter is not something I'm willing to do. So I created the closest design I could minus the actual Circle T logos. And I love it!

    You are so close to getting this perfect. What I do is preserve the shine of the bombs by protecting them with a dab of hot glue. During blasting it is preserved. Then instead of paint fill I use a machinist dye called Dykem. Scotty did the same thing back in the day. It really looks awesome and pays homage to Tigers beautiful red cherry bomb.

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  Рік тому +4

      That's a good idea! But I don't see Dykem being very durable, but I guess you never know. Also, the Tamiya translucent paints I'm using I'm pretty sure are nearly identical to the ones Scotty uses. May do a classic red one in the future.

      Honestly this is probably a one off for me. This putter with the shaft and grip cost me around $640. And that's just cost. Between cleaning up and flattening out the filled sightline, and the high bright Satin finish took days of hand sanding. Something I couldn't possibly do, and charge for someone else. Ive done some similar that aren't super high cost, just depends on what else you'd like done.

  • @davidkeith220

    Do you find that weight is reduced with all the initial sanding?

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  Рік тому

      A typical restore usually results in about a 3 to 5 gram loss in weight. This project wasn't bad because there was quite a bit of adding welding and whatnot.

      It's actually isopropyl alcohol. It creates a film for the paint to flow into the cavities really nicely. Also keeps it bubble free and glossy.
