Thanks for the video. Please explain what makes a marine build vs a street build. Are parts the same? What are the heads? Were they the GT-40P heads? What are specs for new cam vs OEM cam?
i have a 302 ford engine i am rebuilding now and no ridge from rings digging into the bore at top ... and a top engine builder told me it is the new style cast blocks material they are using now... it will not wear away the bore like they use to...
Is that engine RH or LH rotation im building my 76 Mastercraft with a 351W and mines RH rotation and i know the cam is different and wondering where i can find a RH rotation cam
the guy that numbered the rods and caps probably went 1-8 from the front of the engine to the back in order not left and right for the actual cylinder like you did bc 1,7,8 are the same. im no engine builder thats why im watching :) great vids bro
Bro super informative video. I’m trying to learn how to work on a couple 302s coming out of my Bertram. Please do another boat motor video you tube is lacking
I fount That RTV on the balancer bolt is typical on a Pleasurecraft 351 like this. They marinize the shortblock with their cast iron front cover, Seems to be their technique of assembly. wow, 40 over. Nice program man.
nice video dude. I have a 351W in a 26' Shamrock. It has a real nice Ford 351 Windsor, Holley Carburetor. We use the boat to run from Juneau Alaska, to our sawmill yard and home in Tenakee Springs, Alaska. Where is Part 2? Killin me here
Awesome video buddy. I learned a lot watching it. One of the most informative videos on UA-cam. I’m in the process of rebuilding my 351 w boat motor also. Pretty much the same as in the video, out of a Mastercraft too.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Harold Charlie thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
when you resize a rod, i will not matter what hole you install the rod since it is round now and crank is turned ground down... so the stamped number on side of rod will not matter... so the engine rebuilder just did not care where he installed the resized rod... but i would of installed the correct stamped number on the side of rod to the correct cylinder so the next guy would not have a problem understanding why it was not installed in the same hole and could sleep at night and not stay up all night wondering why just why someone just slam the engine together without taking the time to install the rod back into the number hole it came out of... just say`n
Same here maybe. Mines out of a 1975 trojan F24, it might have been rebuilt already but I don't know because the guy I bought it from has dementia really bad unfortunately for both of us 😕 the boat counter has 2,300 hours on it, no idea if that's super high or not either... Mines a 233 hp 351 what's yours?
Because it’s a marine engine. Power is at the bottom of the list for requirements. Lower compression is much safer for an engine that will sit at peak torque, wide open throttle for up to 30 minutes at a time.
@@sps-vf4qq lol they're actually interchangable...not because they are but because people wouldn't stop interchanging them...so there's that...And Ford Motor company?? who the hell does he think he is?? lol

I'm a Windsor man from way back I would never pulled that engine down gasket set and core plugs
HELP! Water has gotten in engine as seen on dipstick. How do I definitely know if the block is cracked, or something else? 351 Windso.

My 84 MC had RTV too.
What does a build like this cost? I’m in the market of getting my 351W rebuilt
Who did you go with a rebuild from?
Could they have gone in different holes because it was balanced?
I'm thinking because of rod side clearance.

Me too. 1994 Shamrock Predator 22’

Do you think it actually said 5 and you were just reading it upside down?
Why would you put the low compression piston back in
Because it’s a marine engine. Power is at the bottom of the list for requirements. Lower compression is much safer for an engine that will sit at peak torque, wide open throttle for up to 30 minutes at a time.
One reason boat motors would be in good shape is 90% of a boats life is spent in storage.
They spend the other 10% at 4000rpm...lol
But not good if not winterized. But good if sell contained cooling system.
There seems to be a excessive amount of carbon buildup on the pistons,
How much did this cost and can you do mine?
I have a marine 351 rebuilt. Have a utube video of the engine running. For sale.
Can this engine be used in a car?
I need to know as well
Yes there is a video on that with the same motor and they got is smokin tires
Can it be put in truck
Very cool.
FORD RODS ARE MARKED FROM THE FACTORY IN ORDER WHEN THIS MOTOR WAS PUT BACK TOGETHER THEY JUST PUT THE RODS BACK IN ANY OLD HOLE
Maybe. Someone may have actually used a feeler gauge to measure rod side clearance and fitted accordingly.
Don't forget the oil galley plugs.
4 lefts and 4 rights.
Boat engines are supposed to have a removable frostplug
No. Brass plugs.
@@jesse75 removable...so they can be winterized...
@@lsxtmt4910 all marine blocks have pep cocks to drain water out.
I love you
They were machined with a lathe not a mill😜
Only a Chevy guy would write numbers on the rods, Fords have #s stamped on the rods.
Please stop saying 'Motor.'....Its an engine...Motors are electric...lol
You’re a motor
