+David Kennedy - These guys were the Darlings of EMI. They could screw around all they wanted in the studio. The Beatles didn't need to get the songs down in a rehearsal room and then get in the studio to record in order to save money - they pretty much had unlimited studio time. I love listening to how the guys messed around. Just a few lads loving their jobs, at least at the time of these recordings. Compare this to the atmosphere during the "Let It Be" sessions. At THAT point in time they could barely get anything done...
Then " Let it be naked" is for you. Actually enjoyed the 2nd CD enclosed as it's just them talking although you can hear John and his beginnings to " Jealous Guy" & " Imagine".

Well yeah, they did write all those timeless amazing songs. Those timeless amazing songs did not magically spring into existence, the songs needed to be hashed out. This was George's song, and George's songs were always suppressed, due to the dynamic Lennon/Mcartney duo. These priceless out takes are an incredible insight to their creative process. Any one of the Beatles brain-farts have more talent than Kanye and the computer loop rap crap that passes for music today.

We probably want to think that those brilliant new sounds fell into to place from "genius" when in fact they were just clawing through the weeds and bogs like the rest of us but kept going in new directions. The long "boot camp" in Hamburg established the value of clawing through all the musical rubbish till you find something new and recognize its value. It's cool to listen to how the gears turned. The process sounds so normal to any start up business.

They didn't use headphones for recording in the studio until Revolver, so you can hear the monitor playback as they overdub. Classic Beatle chatter. I wish there was more.

George Martin is most definitely the 5th beatle. Hearing how he can get just as silly as "the lads" makes it easy to see why they worked together so well. That and he was a pretty kick as s producer. What an aligning of the stars.

Sidthing the Beatles were great song writers but none were, nor claimed to be, great musicians. Anyone who can play a guitar passably well can tell you that the songs, ingenious as they may be in many cases, are relatively easy to play. I could play most of them back in the day. So why hire studio musicians to play them? There is also a distinct development in musical terms through the band's compositional work, and this may even be evidence of a conspiracy to improve pop music.
Remember the bit in the movie Yellow Submarine when they arrive in Pepperland and they find some dude ( I think the mayor or something like that) underneath the appels that were thrown onto him in the beginning? Well, the acapella little song they sing to cheer him up, is this little bit at 10:59, taken from this recording sessions.
George Martin was recording this chat session for possible release on a fan club record. Needless to say, there wasn't much 'straight' material to put on a record, and it was abandoned. Thankfully, it was preserved so we can hear it.
This was recorded in case they could use something for that year's Xmas record. When Paul said he came back from Olympia and let the torch, he was saying code for torching a joint.

I went online and watched the Beatles cartoon. But the songs were cut out. I don't know if you know this, but those were the best parts!

George Martin was recording this chat session for possible release on a fan club record. Needless to say, there wasn't much 'straight' material to put on a record, and it was abandoned. Thankfully, it was preserved so we can hear it.

I’m hoping that the overdubs session for thing for yourself will be released in its entirety it should it shows the Beatles really having fun all the overdub sessions should be released and that would be fantastic.
They're just a bunch of guys who just happened to be absolutely brilliant.
