    I had a 79 Eldorado. I was my grandfather's, mom's , then mine. I was in college and it became mine in 1989. I drove it ten years and then gave it to my sister in law. Well over 200,000 miles on it.

    the 79 -80 Eldorados are the best years, since they have the best engines . Great looking car My Parents had a Riviera of era

      You could count 1981 too if you disconnected the cylinder deactivation and ran it as a V8 only

      @@1983jblack true. The only problem with the engine, I have read, was , the computer systems of the day wasn't up to running it correctly. They used that engine in the factory limo's for a couple years.

    The '79 Biarritz was the only Biarritz in this gen and maybe of all Biarritzs to offer cloth seats and only in this color. Rare indeed.

    These were beautiful cars, and the 350 is a definite advantage over the later 4100.

      No 368 option in '79. It was either the Olds 350 diesel or the Olds gasoline 350 with fuel injection.

    Sterling Blue metallic. I had a 1979 Cadillac Sedan Deville that color. I also had a 1979 Eldorado in Cotillion White with Carmine red leather interior.

    Did these have antilock brakes as an option? I know the Seville had a form of abs for the 1976 era Seville. Plus an early airbag system for the driver.

    • @EbonyBunny1
      @EbonyBunny1 6 років тому

      No. Both options were not popular, so GM discontinued both options, before the 1979 model year. 1975 or 1976 was the last year for both features. Not only did Cadillac have those features, but the Buick Electra 225 & Olds 98 also had those options.

    • @1983jblack
      @1983jblack 4 роки тому

      Seville didn't offer an airbag, those were the big Cads, Olds, and Buicks from 1974-76. Also I don't recall an anti lock system either. They equipped them with four wheel disc brakes starting in 1977.

      1983jblack AR3
      On the options list were the Air Cushion Restraint System and the Track Master anti-skid braking system, what we know today as airbags and ABS.
      here are the RPO codes, and price on the 1976 Seville:
      AR Air Cushion Restraint System (Not available on Limousine-$340)
      JL9 AH Track Master ($263)

      @@EbonyBunny1 Yup, if given a choice, most people still wouldn't buy that stuff, especially once they saw the cost.

    • @EbonyBunny1
      @EbonyBunny1 2 роки тому

      @@l337pwnage I would not buy them either. And it's not because I can not afford it's just the they are not necessary. Most modern safety features on cars are not necessary. They give people a false sense of security, and people drive more recklessly because of them. If you know how to drive, while anti locks brakes are usefully, you do not need them. Same goes for airbags. And I definitely would not make them mandatory.
