Great video sir, thank you!! I will be replacing mine this winter on a 2007 Ram. I would recommend going one step farther and replacing the Pressure and Return hoses as well as the Cooler hoses (if equipped) and don't forget to bleed the system.
Great Video! You are an awesome motivational speaker. As I was working in mine and having issues breaking loose the fasters right off the start, I would just think you saying “ you can do it “. Thanks brother…
Thanks followed your video yesterday changed my rack. Saved 500 bucks. You omitted a couple parts which would have been helpful which is how to get the rack out. Had to take tire off and it comes out from left. But overall 👍
@@jmathews470 damn bro you really were committed to making dude acknowledge that he made a mistake in spelling the title so you could laugh about it one more time. Tell me if I spell this correctly “douche bag”
Do you have to apply a certain amount of torque to nuts when adding them back on? Thanks for the vid, very thorough. I've been watching tons of repair videos lately and doing things myself and saving thousands. Keep up the great uploads!
Yes. You do. It should be 235 ft lbs. Make sure you do that. Your steering is important. Tie Rod ends 45 ft lbs. Pressure Hose 23 ft lbs. Return hose 52 ft lbs. Maintain your vehicles by the service manual and stay safe. Here is a free download for the service manual as well www.mediafire.com/file/8k5u7yi4olsck17/2004_Dodge_Ram_Factory_Service_Manual.pdf/file
Whenever possible use the specific torque specs. Tight enough can lead to nuts and/or bolts that shake loose or you could over tighten things stripping threads or snapping bolts.
I wonder if it failed because they had the wrong fluid in it, I have to replace mine plus the pump this weekend and the previous owner had used power steering fluid instead of atf4, yeah dodge uses atf in the power steering 🙄
I agree seen a few videos for the dodge rack and pinion and they all had power steering looking fluid come out instead of the red atf+4 fluid just did my leaking rack on my 04 and it was red
Thanks for the video, but if you lived in New England, it's gonna more than a crescent wrench. My return hose would not loosen up. I had to remove the hose from the cooler and then spin the hose to get it off. Then I tried to loosen the nut on the pressed on fitting and tore the aluminum pipe. Ugh! Time for a new return hose.
Bro I can’t believe how easy y’all got it wrenching on cars that don’t see salt and snow. I woulda rounded off every single bolt I touched with that crescent wrench lol. Got her done though real smooth and showed the important parts good video. Fuckin Bobby full of shit!
I just put my rack in and when the steering wheel is straight the tie rod threads are extremely uneven. One side has over an inch of threads showing and the other has no threads showing. If I loosen the steering coupler at the rack, it only goes on one way. It’s like my steering is half a turn off. When I turn the steering wheel, it turns farther one way than the other. How can I correct this? 2003 dodge ram 1500 4wd

Can you tell me where you found this exact part ? How much was the part ?
Autozone
When you take the hoses off does the power steering leak all the fluid in the reservoir?
Yeah it will just get something ready to clog the hole.
