    I love Dutch shipyards and builds, my feeble attempt was to build a replica dutch barge, a Branson kit, it had very nice lines, killed me doing it as I am not a young lad anymore. Busily rubbing down and painting an entire wide beam barge at the moment that is killing me too!

    I am again impressed by the amount of work your father is doing in this refit.
    He is working like a young guy.
    Reminds me of my own father who always went full speed when working.

    What a cool family project where mom gives her last curtain. Thanks a lot for sharing, feels really good to see a bit of "normality" in these times. And I have the feeling Tijgerhaai will be looking supertigersharp pretty soon.

    I really enjoy watching your videos, you are making great progress while maintaining a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. The door and air scoops are very smart. Previously you asked for comments regarding a dinghy, if it's going to need to live outside, hanging off that beautiful aft of your ship in all weathers, perhaps aluminium would be a more sturdy material than ply and epoxy? I have a plywood Mirror sailing dinghy that's been out of action for too long awaiting maintenance..... I was going to suggest using some of the aluminium from your old wheelhouse, but there maybe isn't enough left. Aluminium dinghy's should stand up to wear/tear/rough use and neglect better than plywood and be lighter than steel. Perhaps there's many good reasons why more dinghy's aren't made of aluminium.
    In a previous video you also asked for comments regarding the interior of the wheel house, in the UK we have a saying "Touch wood" - there's a superstition that it might bring good luck. However I heard that many seafarers prefer to touch cold iron in challenging times. Perhaps you could have a beautiful old cast iron coffee bean grinder mounted somewhere in the wheelhouse - to go with your coffee machine. In big seas you could hang onto the grinder, have your fingers crossed and prepare some fresh coffee at the same time!
    My old barge was made in Leeuwarden in 1931 - one day I would love to cruise it back and do a tour of the north of the Netherlands. Good luck with all your work, I look forward to following your continuing progress.

      Thank you! I hadn't even considered aluminium for the dinghy yet, but thats a great idea! Also because we can just have it pre cut by the supplier, so that it's very quick to assemble and weld together. We're gonna seriously consider this.
      As for the Coffee grinder, again something that I didn't think about, but really adds to the feel of the ship. Thanks for the great suggestions! This is why I like to make these video's, because people like yourself think along :)

    Every blue water vessel needs a front door, its so handy I dont know why some boats dont have at least 1.Tally Ho's video was so informative. The only issue I see with your door is a lack of a letter box for the post man (person) 🤣😂 Great update 2x👍

    Is the red undercoat you are using Red Oxide. Or Red Lead. If it is then that has been banned here in Australia due to it being poisonous.

    • @tigersharkboatworks
      @tigersharkboatworks  Рік тому +1

      It is red oxide indeed. Red lead has been banned here in the Netherlands as well, or at least, the real red lead. The stuff they sell now as 'red lead' is supposed to be unharmful, but it's also not as effective as the old stuff.

      @@tigersharkboatworks Great videos, and I look forward to following your adventure. One thing I noticed was your use of red oxide primer on nonferrous metal. My understanding is red oxide primer is intended for use on ferrous metal and is not usually suitable for nonferrous metals like aluminum.

    • @tigersharkboatworks
      @tigersharkboatworks  Рік тому

      @@alexpaterson7846 I was wondering how long it would take before somebody noticed. So far nobody has been able give me a reason why not to use red oxide on aluminium, other than "It is not intended". We do use a washprimer on the aluminium first, and the manufacturer (Epifanes) states that we can use all Epifanes primers on aluminium after aplying washprimer. Since the red oxide is from the same manufacturer, I guess we're golden. I've been wondering if there is something like red oxide especially for aluminium. I suppose that would be White oxide then, but I dont think that exists. Anyway, we have good experiences with red oxide on alu, so think of it as an experiment, if our wheelhouse starts falling apart in 10 years, I can be the one telling people why they shouldn't :)

    I think the 'front door' installation by Samsonboat was meant as a joke. Not real.

      was no joke, every boat needs a front door for the Klabouterman to enter the vessel and a back door that he can exit as he wants to... cheers.
