Great video! I passed my pre-trip on the 1st attempt here in Houston and I received my Class A today. We don't drive tractors, only F4 & 550's with goosenecks, etc but the inspections details are pretty much the same. Thank you for the video and good luck to everyone getting their CDL.
I want to thank you very much!! Because of watching your videos I got my cdl “A”. yesterday. I will positively will recommend you to anyone trying to get there cdl. Again thank you!!!
Update: I passed my CDL road skills test after one fail during backing. I aced the pretrip and in cab portion thanks to this video. Mr Hill, great video by you and the instructors at Houston Community College Trucking School. One comment: On the alternator belt, you say can't push more than 3/4" inch play and then on water pump belt you say can't push more than 1" inch play. This could confuse new students.
Using the acronyms helped when pointing out the parts on the truck. Also follow the same order when practicing to remind yourself. This video is a great guide to follow.
I used a free app that had all the questions EXCEPT for the special Texas section. (If you aren’t doing your test in Texas then disregard this part.) I failed my first attempt because I didn’t know about that Texas section. Download the Texas manual from the DPS website. The section you need is chapter 14. You have to pass it before going on to the normal 3sections.
You are to fully describe the item. There must have been more to you failing because those are just points. Not having enough points or not doing the Airbrakes correctly will fail you.
Pre-trip inspection is pretty good. Doesn't the state of Texas state in their rules that as a 3rd party examiner, you are not supposed to advertise or train the people you perform an exam on?
Great video! Question about brake chrck based on other videos I’ve seen... Do you have to perform a one minute static brake check before doing the one minute applied brake check??? Therefore making it SALE instead of ALE?
Johnathan no bro there not not strict there cool as long as u know ut stuff ul pass thay look for bridge clearance hights ,speed limit, make sure u check ur mirrors, thay also stop u on the side of the road an what u to explain the procedure if ur gonna get out an check somthing so know were u put ur triangles 🔺️ on a one way road and also rail road crossings know the procedures

Watch the videos on UA-cam look under CDL Texas special requirements and there’s all the sections . All the questions on the actual test
Look up on DPS ehat exact chapters you have to study amd then download the handbook. Study the chapters and you'll be good.

I just did everything in the brake test exactly how JL does it in this video and I passed. Good luck to you.
