    Honestly, if someone doesn't want to deploy, they might as well not join the military. You're going to be sent somewhere, maybe not combat, but somewhere.

    People are saying the National Guard wouldn't give me a waiver for my hip. My recruiter did say it would be difficult but never said impossible. I have full range of motion in my hips so I'm still going to try

    Jason, can you do a video on what is it like joining the National Guard at an older age. I'm trying this again, hope you get a chance to.

    If you are trying to find a branch of the service where you never deploy, don't enlist. I served 30 years US Army, 2 wars and multiple deployments, my Son, retired Marine, multiple floats, Bosnia and Desert Storm, and my Grandson 13 years USAF, 4 deployments and still serving. The National Guard and Reserves all deployed for Iran and Afghanistan. If you want the benefits, get your mind right, you will deploy at some time(s). Serving your country is an honorable act, I have no regrets.

    Thank you SOB I appreciate Your Information. Because I Want to Serve My Country Yet I Want to Take care of my family and Continue Going to College. And I have one Question Since The recrutiers here dont answer me. Is it possible the Army Reserve Could Support To Reach My Goal as Detective. I know its too much information but I want to be straight.

    • @TheJasonYamamoto
      @TheJasonYamamoto  7 років тому +2

      No and yes. You can gain the experience of an MP, go to college, and become a warrant officer and join CID (military version of FBI). If you like being in CID, then stay CID. If you want out of the military, go become a cop and work your way to become a detective.

    Hey man great video, I’ve learned a lot from your videos. I am going to join the reserves and I was wondering if you know anything about the Civilian Affairs MOS? I heard the reserves component doesn’t get as trained like their Active counter parts as far as language training and stuff like that. I also was wondering if they are to be deployed or plucked like you said more often?

    I am not scared about getting deployed but I just need to know how often will i see combat? I just want to know because I plan on joining the army reserve. 25u or 25b.

    • @TheJasonYamamoto
      @TheJasonYamamoto  7 років тому +6

      seeing combat is like 1/1000 chances.... Unless your special forces, you'll most likely get attacked, blown up, or drive away witnessing someone else get attacked or blown up.

    • @nekoryushi
      @nekoryushi 7 років тому +3

    • @DannyBurgers0
      @DannyBurgers0 6 років тому +1

      Jean Moore you'll never see combat unless you're in a combat MOS and end up in a good unit that deploys to combat zones. Infantry, Rangers, or Special Fprces. Being a POG, don't ever worry about combat lol.

    • @derekosgood3230
      @derekosgood3230 6 років тому

      PVT America that's a damn lie ppl in none combat roles die as well. Directly or indirectly. A female I know of was killed by an IED and she was not infantry. Chances may be smaller but it certainly happens.

    What are some more non critical jobs? My son my only child graduates high school and wants to join military next year, however I'm afraid of things like military ages people faster, chances of PT SD, death, or becoming disabled. I want him to do something honorable, brave, and meaningful but more on our land. I just makes me feel better. Call me selfish but I don't want to lose him.

    • @aporifera
      @aporifera Рік тому +1

      Just let him know that when he signs, he's signing away 8 years of his life with almost no chance for regret. In basic training, they'll teach you how you have no rights whatsoever. You do what you are told and are often punished for other people's mistakes. If he goes for active duty, he has no control over where he lives or when he gets deployed. It's almost inevitable to work on weekends and holidays, sometimes for 24hrs at a time with no additional pay and no right to refuse. It's not as bad when he's single but there's a reason why divorce rate is higher in the military. There are many other things but here are a few to get started. Whatever you do though, don't ever trust those recruiters. They are well known liars who will not face any consequences for lying to you.

    • @aporifera
      @aporifera Рік тому

      People do suffer permanent physical or psychological injuries and the army says it would cover that financially but many times the burden of proof is on you. Look up burn pits and how many soldiers got cancer as a result many years after they separated from the army and how difficult it was for them to get the financial help to get treated. Sad thing is, they want you to think you are making a sacrifice for the country but honor is like their currency. They pay you "honor" so they can pay you less in everything else and demand more from you in everything you do.

    • @charolettemoody9894
      @charolettemoody9894 Рік тому

      He decided to wait a few years before joining and if he does it will be reserves that way he has a life outside the military. But thanks for the insight. I have heard both good and bad things so it has been very conflicting.

    What are your thoughts on the ocp uniform? I never see you in them

    • @TheJasonYamamoto
      @TheJasonYamamoto  8 років тому +5

      A uniform is a uniform. Military is not a fashion show. I wear whatever the Army gives me.

    • @Mikek-dv1zl
      @Mikek-dv1zl 8 років тому +8

      I never said anything about the military being a fashion show. I simply asked what were your thoughts on the OCP uniform because I know the Army is phasing out the old uniform and soldiers can decide to either wear the old ACUs or update to the OCP uniform. some are preferences, some will just wait until the phase out date, etc. Didn't have to make a big deal over my question I'm pretty sure I can ask any soldier this question because it's not offending.
