I think the entire point of 296 GTB was to get head first into the hybrid scene while having a quite acceptable, loveable V6. When you think of Ferrari, you think of NA V12 or V8 and that's what a true Tifosi loves dearly. However with the new overbearing regulations i think Ferrari had to find a way to put them selves in between their ever loving fanbase and the new hybrid scene. They did a fantastic job with the 296.

Another great looking car and with great technology on it, that people will use to speculate on rather than drive, has per the norm of the last 10 years.
@@indiebekonn Not when they're brand new. Speculation usually starts after production ends. Prices start going up and low mileage vehicles can be sold at basically the same price as new and prices keep on going up and then skyrocket when they reach "classic" status. A Ferrari 308 is now double the price of when it was new.
Come on Top Gear. You should not need to be told that Ferrari have never had a V6 in a production car. This is the first. The Dino 246gt was developed by Ferrari but was never badged Ferrari by the factory. The later Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino, was a Ferrari Dino but was fitted with a V8. History is important, especially when you are arguably the leading motoring show. This is the first ever Ferrari with a V6 engine.
A V6 that produces 654 hp. I mean bloody hell, V6 or not thats a lot of power and then you add in the electricity, and remember the price, only 230,000 pounds to start, the competition are gonna have to do better if they want to keep up. Thank you Ferrari for once again innovating and pushing boundaries. Long overdue
The reason they have that see through bubble over the engine is if it were metal or carbon it would rise above the body lines and look terrible. So its a way around the problem of the drivetrain being too tall
General Motors Developed V6 engines that propelled Indy Race cars north of 230mph (average). To the point the Americans were building V6 engines that would later become the staple platform for Formula 1.
I wish Ferrari would make a new entry level car, the new Dino perhaps. Something really small, light, simple, cute, 450bhp V6, less than 1000KG, old school manual gearbox, no silly buttons and lights on the steering wheel, no hi tech touch screen display bullshit, good old fashioned buttons, dials, etc! Something like a cross between the Porsche Cayman, Lotus Emira and the original Dino!
Presumably there's small print in the manual that 800+ hp is only available when you have juice in the batteries. Do more than one lap flat out and surely your times get worse even with some regen, downside of hybrid. And not crazy about "sunglasses" rear lights.
I love the look of it. Performance wise, I'm undecided, t renders the F8 Tributo.. a bit pointless? The 296 *could* be the replacement for the F8 in the future. But now, just after 2 years, with not that far performance and price gap, it almost though Ferrari want to silently kill the non-hybrid mid-engine supercar line-up. geez remember pre-2008 when we can just call them "the V8 Ferrari line-up"?
I think it looks fantastic, but at 300k before options it’s another irrelevance that doesn’t really advance the game. Just another Ferrari number to be collected. I wish a commercial case could be advanced for a run of new Dinos - V6, 450 BHP, 1100 kilos, £150,000 and a manual option. I know, I know…. but I did say ‘wish’. I was writing as the video concluded… it seems that happily I’m not alone in my wish.
Proving again that we have passed peak Ferrari. Performance that's irrelevantly fast on modern roads, a horrible sounding six instead of an eight and maintenance costs that can only by eye wateringly absurd. 15 mile electric range that is completely pointless to anyone other than perhaps an EU regulator. An inferior car to a 458 in all the ways that matter.
Your comment is irrelevant, you are not Ferrari's customer and you never will be even if you wanted to. If you want road-relevant performance, buy a camry. Dino was a V6 and was a classic, the number of cylinders don't make the car. Porsches made legends from 6 cylinders. There were legendary F1s that had used 4 cylinders. Sound and looks are subjective, performance is not. It's either you are fast and agile or you are not.

The challengers refreshed look had the headlights that also had a hole to cool the car that was before the McLaren 720s
Wow that the same color as mine....great
Imo this car looks really good, but it would be better with the iconic long headlights. Also this car kinda reminds me of the 2008 California

Italians know Very good how should look like a super car
10:39 why is there an SUV inside a Ferrari Dealership ?
Because they sell and service Maserati...
Badass car, cool, manly and retro design, a bit 80's, just this colours combination doesn't do it justice, in fiorano red or black would be awesome.
Frank Stephenson made a few tweaks to the design and let me tell you, I wish frank designed it.
I dont. Frank didn't take into consideration packaging, or the fact Ferrari simply didn't want to go with round lights.

@@carlad2640 Frank is right, Round light are essential to Ferrari. This looks like a copy of the Corvette C8.
@@777jones c8 looks like a partial copy of the r8. this ferrari have little in common with the c8 imo
Only had an hour but still up to par with what we have come to expect Jack, well done team this looks like a little corker.
Man Hammond would fit perfectly in that boot...
I have more and more respect for the NSX everyday.
The NSX also looks better
I love the exhaust location, but not a fan of the large singe outlet. Much rather see a nice triple.
The reason they have that see through bubble over the engine is if it were metal or carbon it would rise above the body lines and look terrible. So its a way around the problem of the drivetrain being too tall
Lovely footage of it on the SP49 between Alghero and Bosa in Sardinia. Arguably the best driver’s road in the World.

I dont know man, SF 90 looks better. This car has bit of crude looks compared to other Ferraris.
General Motors Developed V6 engines that propelled Indy Race cars north of 230mph (average). To the point the Americans were building V6 engines that would later become the staple platform for Formula 1.
The first car that pioneered the Air intake in headlight thing was the Dodge Hellcat in 2015. 720S came in 2017
The 458 had that with the headlights and so did the Chiron a while before the 720 existed.
Meanwhile Lamborghini is still launching"special editions" of the 10 year old Huracan.
Lamborghini has become a joke
You mean Aventador but ok…
Well, Lamborghini is that V12. What do they do now?

@@niandra92 Ferrari are still making V12 cars in addition to future-proofing their lineup, you know that right?
CNC: hi Doug we have Lamborghini for you
Doug: a Lamborghini please
Long gone are the golden days we live in a world where Ferrari makes hybrid cars. I miss the cars of old.
P4 Icona V12 with around 850 bhp(looks like the 333 P4) coming out in november.
YOU ARE RIGHT, SF 90 KINDA LOOKS MEEEEEHHHHH...🐐🐐🐐🐐
I love this new 296!!
Presumably there's small print in the manual that 800+ hp is only available when you have juice in the batteries. Do more than one lap flat out and surely your times get worse even with some regen, downside of hybrid. And not crazy about "sunglasses" rear lights.
Nice! Manually adjustable seats and steering wheel. No need for excess motors and excess weight and more things that can go back down the line.
Finally, the V6 grandchild since the Dino

Never mind the fabled manual gear box, did I miss the bit where they demo the gear shift?
Almost all companies trying to do something new with their design, while Porsche be like - naah we good mate
Is he trying to sound like richard Hammond? I can’t stop hearing it
Market cannibalization may occur because of this car. People won't buy the more expensive models when they get everything in this Ferrari.

Shouders are not at the back.... You might mean "hips"?
love the asseto fiorano
Delightful as always!
But.... Touch-sensitive controls? Oh dear....
So much better looking than the SF90, especially the rear! Reminiscent of the Dino and 250 LM.

Best Ferrari design ever made
That car is SCREAMING for single round taillights. Frank Stephenson did a redesign on it and his small changes make a huge difference.
