So nice to hear some positive ideas about Gary. Stop focusing on all the blight and start clearing it out so a positive regeneration can start to take place. Government and private partnerships are essential. Despite a history of corruption we can't assume or accept that it it has to continue.

Hmm, so I'm wondering what came of this. Because, 5 years later and almost nothing has changed. I know because I have family in Gary.

Crossroads/Paloma Creek, TX is a complete 180 degree turn from GI. Here you will see men working construction every day while in Gary building just sit

There are some positive aspects in Gary,it has some beautiful beaches,Indiana Dunes National and Miller Beach the most expensive neighborhood where the average home costs only $95,000.It's lost most of it's industrial base but the City is alot cleaner because of it.The City is very affordable compared to Evanston, anyway, definite potential.

While you're at it, Peter, how about a revitalization for Gary's neighboring city, Indiana Harbor (East Chicago) as well? It was a wonderful city at one time.

I've watched a number of videos about Gary. I'm not from that part of the country, so don't get the whole racist thing. After Karina we had people in busses lined up here in Salt Lake City. How can we help.? It was probably a coulture shock lol. Here if you want to learn a trade, its here for you. Eelectrician, mechanic, carpenter, or truck driver, like me it's all available. Nobody goes hungry. We have to many sources for food for that.

By the way, I'm sure they didn't move back. Unless it was for a cause of some sort.

Sounds all well and good, but what are you going to do to get rid of the gangs, drug dealers and thugs? You think they are just going to leave and say bye bye?

What has been done since this video?

At the end of the day, I think people just just want a good clean, safe environment to live and raise their kids. I think people want to work. And provide. I also think drug dealers have fallen short on thier potential. In my opinion it can be done just as legally as illegally.
