The people of Gary that I have met while visiting are very kind and generous people who seem to have been caught in the middle of industrial and political chaos!

Mayor Prince, I hope you do make a difference. Good Luck on that. I remember my Dad taking me with him mid 60s to a friend of his and having breakfast near 5th and Broadway. I am 68 and white, I just despise the fact of what Gary used to be then and now. My hats off to you if you can turn Gary around.

I grew up in that town myself. I’m almost 70. I remember it for what it was. I still go there doing business with the truck salvage businesses. I cruise through the whole area for old times sake. There ain’t no part of that town I’m scared of. If you’re up to no good, it’ll find ya…..

Since 2020, more than 200 buildings have been demolished in the city of Gary, Indiana... In the past, the National Guard helped save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars, by assisting with demolition... To tear down all of the city’s abandoned buildings, it would cost more than $100 million... The city should have access to those funds from the State, through the $1.2 Trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, passed into law during 2021...

This is great... A MUST SEE... I SEEN THIS AND IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT THE DRUMMER JOHNNY JACKSON STORY!! I loved it...

Sad that your story was an example of pure laziness.
Using stock footage, instead of new.
In which the majority of those buildings you showed had already been torn down. Perception is sometimes the result of inaccurate reports by the media.
    Do better Indiana public broadcasting...

Gee you sure could use a reading/spelling lessons from one of those well trained Democratic teachers.
Your personal stupidity and lack of education shines through in your post.
maguh🤪 isn't a movement ol' girl, it's a misguided poison followed by a throng of low information lemmings.
As for the Steel city, it's location and positive direction are a bright spot in terms of the future.
The republican takeover of the schools here was a total failure however, with lower test scores and graduation rates than ever...

I highly doubt the mayor and his wife are actually riding bicycles through the city.
